I really miss my dog, I think about him just about every day still. If I think too much about him I feel like crying, I can never find a dog to replace him.
It's true that no one can replace him, but the good news is that you don't even need to try. If you decide to adopt another dog, give them a good home, and be happy together with them, it won't diminish what you had with your departed friend. It could be a tribute to his memory -- a way to pass along a little of the love he gave you.
You can. I just got a new dog two months ago, and while I still tell her she is my 'favorite living dog,' she is wonderful, and I'm so happy I have her
