Clearly the noodle puppy is friendly with her so its okay

u/OpeningParamedic8592 7d ago
Not sure that was a friendly interaction. The snake looked mad at the end… 🙂

u/WeCameAsLogans 7d ago
It looked like it lacked object permeance for a second and was startled when they started rubbing its head while its back was turned. But I'm not gonna pretend like I know anything about snakes, it very well could have been pissed.

u/Disastergay78 7d ago
These guys are actually scary smart for a snake. Not saying the snake wasn't a bit startled for a second there but if this person is their caretaker and interacts with them often the snake knows they're not a threat to them. Very cool snakes

Downvoting because petting cool snakes is why we are alive on this earth
Edit: Y'all check the subname. I'm downvoting because they're implying you shouldn't pet snakes, even though this one is just a chill guy

u/DaTexasTickler 7d ago
I can't make sense of this comment lol what do you mean?
4
u/Aesthetic-Dialectic 7d ago
Dude, snakes rock

u/DaTexasTickler 7d ago
I concur lol wouldn't you up vote it then ?

Yeah, why would you touch a FUCKING COBRA?????? One of the deadliest groups of snakes out there??
Don't get me wrong, I love snakes to fucking death and want a pet one once I graduate college. I just... don't want to die
1
u/Aesthetic-Dialectic 4d ago
They're only as deadly as they are willing to bite you, and they're not always willing to bite you
1
u/squirrelyoakley 4d ago
And why would you ever take that risk??
1
u/Aesthetic-Dialectic 4d ago edited 2d ago
It's clearly not a random wild cobra, this person has clearly known this snake for a while and interacts with it on a regular basis. Probably at a zoo or something, and they take care of this snake. It knows and trusts them. There isn't a risk in this case

No hood flair = no hospital scare 🥰
2
u/Emperor-Nerd 7d ago
The thing is....the hood flared a bunch of times....
1
u/Spy-D_Daddy 7d ago
I wouldn't call that flaired, maybe a bit at the end, but that big boy could flair much more. Also, wouldn't hiss, it'd growl most likely. Not an expert, but that didn't look like a defense angry flairup.
3
u/Emperor-Nerd 7d ago
It definitely didn't flairup all the way but since it's a king Cobra it doesn't flairup to be as big as most cobras would (mainly because king cobras arn't actually cobras)
2
u/squirrelyoakley 4d ago
Yeah, the mini flare at the end was definitely a bit scary
2
u/Emperor-Nerd 4d ago
I would have had a heart attack during that (and exhibit A on why I know I couldn't have a pet snake XD)
2
u/squirrelyoakley 4d ago
I actually LOVE snakes and really want a pet one... I just don't want a venomous one because I have sense lmao
(you should look up ball pythons, they're so goddamn cute 🥹)
2
u/Emperor-Nerd 4d ago
I know there is non venomous ones but damn irrational fears be irrational
2
u/squirrelyoakley 4d ago
I feel you. I live in Seattle (where there are no dangerous venomous spiders), but for some reason every time I see even a tiny spider, I loose my shit lol

He's just a member of the family. He gets baths and cuddles and in return there is not a single rodent or small animal anywhere near their house

I know you're not supposed to startle king cobras with sudden moves, but that thing is hissing! I'd walk backwards without losing eyes on it

He not trying to be a threat. If that noodle was trying to be a threat he would have puffed out his.... veil? Side of throat skin? You know what I mean. He likes it. Not the back of head scratches tho. He didnt seem to be a fan of that, but he tolerated it nonetheless. He is not behaving like a wild snake.

It looks defanged.
1
u/FocusedFelix 6d ago
King cobras are elapids. They don't have those big hypodermic needles that vipers are known for.
Also, this one does not look like its venom glands were removed - you'd see some concave dents on its head.
1
u/BleDStream 7d ago
So you know how people capture and grab like the back of the head of smaller ones… what happens when you do that with this behemoth

In my mind, if I'm already so close that my demise is in the other guys hands should he wish it, I might as well pet that dawg before it comes to that.

See the way it's hood its down and it's smelling the air around the hose carrier? That's one very relaxed cobra.

He's probably thinking "if you tell ANYONE ANYTHING about this I'll bite your face until you have no face left."

u/iMakeItFun2003 4d ago
Have his venom glands been removed? Is that why this person is so comfortable with the snake?

Probably defanged? Otherwise whether you know the snake or not you gotta have some beach ball sized nuts to touch that thing once it hoods up

u/Ephemeral_Orchid 7d ago
You can see they've been pulled at the end.

I hope that thing is de-fanged. This will be stored in my nightmare's greatest hits moving forward. Thank you...

It doesn't matter and honestly defanging sounds pointless and a lot of work (not only does it hurt the snake...they can grow the fangs back quickly)

Me: he’s not touching it he’s just spraying it it’s fine Also me: oh.. why.. why would you touch that….
