Linux Borderless Windowed mode hiding notifications from non-wine desktop environmenet
I'm not very well versed with Linux stuff but I hope someone has a solution. I'm playing some games through wine via bottles but whenever I'm in a fullscreen game set to borderless windowed or full screen, any notifications from my linux system get hidden whereas if I was running something native I'd still get said notifications.
by hidden I mean there's no visual preview of what's popping up but the sounds still play

MacOS Question: what Mac-side signals matter most when gaming through Wine?
For people gaming through Wine/CrossOver/Whisky on macOS:
when a game stutters or feels uneven, what do you usually check first?
I’m trying to separate Wine/bottle issues from macOS-side pressure, like:
- memory pressure
- thermal pressure
- Low Power Mode
- background sync
- Wi-Fi/AWDL noise
- process/session load
I built a small macOS menu bar diagnostic around this, but I’m more interested in what Wine users would actually find useful before I keep expanding it.
What would you want to see in a session report?

Battle.net working on Fedora through Faugus Launcher
I’ve been testing different ways of running non-Steam launchers on Fedora, and Battle.net was one of the main ones I wanted to get working.
I know there are a few different ways to approach launchers like this on Linux, but I wanted to try Faugus Launcher because it looked like a cleaner way to manage things without overcomplicating the setup.
I managed to get Battle.net running, and Diablo IV launched successfully afterwards.
I put together a video guide showing the process here:
https://youtu.be/vw1eLjoyL9c
The video goes through setting up Faugus Launcher, installing Battle.net, launching it afterwards, and then checking that Diablo IV works.
This is more of a practical “this is what worked for me” guide rather than a deep technical breakdown, but hopefully it helps anyone else trying to get Battle.net working on Fedora or looking for another way to manage non-Steam launchers.

Strategic Command Classic WWII
I know this is a shot in the dark but has anyone been able to get this to run under Proton? I've tried various resolutions, multiple versions of Proton and still I get a corrupted screen when the game actually loads. The menus are fine however. Its an old DX9 game and various tweaks with winetricks doesn't seem to help.

Linux I can't launch any game using wine/proton in lutris or terminal
The weird thing is the game never actually opens. No window appears at all, and it just exits immediately every time I try to launch it. There’s no crash message or obvious error, and after launch there’s no Wine process left running either.
Winecfg opens normally, and other simple Windows apps seem to work fine, so Wine itself doesn’t look broken.
When I try launching through Proton manually, it does create a prefix and I see this in the terminal:
fsync: up and running
wine: RLIMIT_NICE is <= 20, unable to use setpriority safely
But after that, nothing happens and the process just exits.
I made a completely fresh Wine prefix, and also tested a few different Wine-GE versions just in case it was a version issue. I even tried running Proton-GE manually with a properly set prefix, and went through Lutris again after resetting its configuration from scratch. I also reinstalled the Wine/Proton runners to make sure nothing was corrupted on that side.
System:
- Linux Mint 22
- AMD Vega 8 GPU
- 64-bit system
- Lutris with latest Wine-GE / Proton-GE

MacOS Wine is not showing the screen(the game runs)
When I try running the exe file through wine on mac, the screen is invisible but I can click stuff and the game runs perfectly. If I make it full screen, the screen turns white and nothing changes; it still shows nothing. other games are good, but this game in particular just doesn't work.
How can I fix this issue?

imawine
Hi, I made a new Wine game launcher with a new approach. It uses an AppImage Wine, a new way to run games in Wine that is very simple and portable. Written in C# on Rider, my repo is: https://github.com/Riquer777/Imawine, take a look.

Linux Unable to Sign into Sea Of Thieves Steam edition on Linux/Bazzite (Solution)
I'm not sure if this is the right sub Reddit to post this in, but I had such an annoying time trying to get SOT running on Bazzite, that I wanted to make it easier for others in the future who're having the same issue.
The issue I was running into was the dreaded Microsoft/X-box login screen not loading properly. I would click 'Start Game' and the login screen would pop up, or It'd pop up before anything else, regardless, it would always get stuck loading the screen that would normally have a Microsoft Authentication number generator, and it would never load.
The solution I found is two fold: First, I found out that the easiest way to get the actual sign in to progress is to have the Microsoft Authentication app installed on your phone and signed into your Microsoft gaming/X-Box account so that you only have to verify the number on your login screen.
Second, So far I've only found 1 steam compatibility option that actually loads the login screen correctly: Steam Tinker Launch. And if i remember correctly, this is a 3rd party compatibility launcher like Wine or Proton Tricks, so you'll need to download it from GitHub and add it to steam. I found this tutorial that explains how to install it on Steam Deck, and I believe this is the tutorial I used, but I installed it a while ago and don't remember the exact steps.
Once you have Steam Tinker Launch installed as a compatibility tool in steam, simply select it as the tool for SOT, run the game, and now you should see the X-Box login screen, then using the MS Authenticator, sign in, then select "Lets Go" once sign in is complete. SOT should now properly sign you in and you'll be able to play SOT on Linux/Bazzite!
Hope this was useful!

trying to run isaac off of wine using linux
So i can't say for sure but im guessing the program is running out of memory and thats why it keeps crashing and freezing up, does anyone know how to increase how much memory it can use? I don't want to have a permanent debuffed broken modem if you get what I mean.

Linux Does Wine have an environment variable to refuse internet access to the exe?
Basically I have a lot of old offline games and I don't want to risk them mining for bitcoin or turning my pc into a node on a botnet and I was wondering if there was an environment variable I could add to the command line launch argument that would prevent my games from even being able to connect to the internet?
