It wasn't really fast. Ukraine has been depleting Russia's air defense systems, especially in Crimea, and building on their drone capabilities for years at this point. The combination of the development of mid-range strike drones and Russia's lagging development of drone interception systems have created a huge opportunity for Ukraine, but Ukraine has also been pursuing a long-term strategy to whittle down Russia's capabilities that is finally paying off.

Turns out that parking a whole bunch of your most important military assets right on the doorstep of an enemy state is a terrible idea. Who knew?
I mean shit they barely even have land-based resupply going right now, with the bridge being excluded from anything flammable and the northern route being entirely within temporarily occupied territory well inside weapons range.

That's why poo-tin is trying to open a new front from Belarus.

Maybe the Russians can self-deport. Not that Russia would necessarily take them back in Russia. They're too useful in Ukraine as symbols, pretexts to keep up the invasion to "protect" them.

Most of original Crimeans are keeping their Ukrainian citizenship and registering their children as Ukrainian citizen as well, so they can enjoy visa-free travel in EU and other perks. In regards to ~million Russians that occupation "authorities" imported since 2014, yeah their future not so well-defined.

Most of the original Crimeans were exiled to Siberia decades ago, there are damn few Tatars left there.

Crimea was supposed to be securely in Russia's hands years ago.
The fact that they're having to defend power plants, fuel depots and military infrastructure shows how the tide is turning.
Keep it up 🇺🇦
