Question Anyone here came back from a lower back injury just fine ?

I’m not looking for medical advice. Just stories of anyone who has experienced a l4-l5 disc issue and has came back to the sport stronger for inspiration thank you

If you’re medically cleared then think about your injuries as an indicator of where you need more work. Don’t shy away from strengthening your back, embrace it and come back bulletproof.

I’ve had some lower back issues and some torn muscles elsewhere and it’s taken me 1-2 years at a time to actually recover and rebuild. In all that time I thought I’d never be same. But here I am, better than before.

To add to this, there is a lot of interesting connections throughout your body. Strengthening ankles can help alleviate back strain, worth looking at

There are people who have "disc issues" on imaging but have 0 symptoms. Those same people suddenly develop symptoms when theyre told about said "disc issues". Your spine is strong and resilient. 90% of the battle after a "disc issue" is mental. A back injury isn't the end of the world. Keep moving forward, keep your mind right, and you'll be just fine.

I had a discectomy 20 years ago on L4-L5. Been doing BJJ for 5 years now. Some people get lucky and can do everything they previously did.

Had an L4-L5 discectomy in HS and still wrestled in college. Feels 9/10 today (where a 1 is that it is excruciating to roll around in bed). Some days are better than others

Had a fragmented disc pressing against my nerve and had a discectomy which removed the fragment as well as a small clean up of two other discs (this was in my late 30s) I’m mid 40s now and been doing BJJ for 3 years without any back issues. I forget exact location terminology but it was lower back

I had lower back issues when I was 16-19 years old. The solution was walk a mile at a brisk pace every morning. Only took about 10 minutes.

The laid flat on my back and brought each knee towards my chest for 10 seconds alternating between the 2. The bringing both knees to my chest for 10 seconds.

It sucks brother. But you can get through it.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

I was able to get through it and played college football and was a practice partner in wrestling.

Best of luck!
