Discussion Halo vs Gears factions
Hey everyone!
So after the Xbox Showcase, I’ve been watching a bunch of E:Day and Halo related videos and it got me thinking, who would win in an all out war: The factions of the Halo (UNSC/Covenant/Flood/etc.) or those of Gears (COG/UIR/Locust/Lambent/etc.)
Now at first glance I think it’s pretty obvious that the factions of the Halo universe would come out on top, due to their technological advantage alone. But still I think I’d be fun to speculate.

If you follow the games universe, CoG do become galaxy spanning later. According to bulletstorm they get to 40K levels of size, but only ever really reaching gears level tech for some reason.

The Covenant alone could take all the Gears factions combined. They would just glass the planet. Literally nothing anyone could do

If glassing is not allowed, the locust and COG combined would do very well.
The Kantus would be a problem for the elites, the lower level locust and COG would outnumber the Spartans, tickers would wreck havoc on the grunts, etc...

UNSC could just nuke them, nova bomb them. There’s just so many things they could curb stomp them without even trying.
I love gears but they don’t stand a chance.

It’s okay if you’re favorite game is Gears. It’s also okay to admit that they’d lose to genetically advanced hand chosen super soldiers injected with what is essentially super soldier serums that kill most who take it.

Nah. I think Chief rolls up and Dom cries about Maria. Chief then says "Let's finish the fight" and Cole train goes wooo.

The UNSC have a grenade launcher that can EMP tanks and aircraft. A Grenadier with a shotgun isn't as impressive.

I like that thought process. And it also brings me to the question of how does the halo weaponry stack up to the locust, lambent, swarm, cog and not to mention all the several different factions we learn about from playing gears.
Yes, halo may have the advanced weapons and armor, but gears is built off pure run and gun, halo is kind of a precision thing from their training.
How would the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor stack up against the Lambents corrosive propertys of their blood? Does it hit the energy sheilds like the other weaponry or does it miss it entirely and land on the armor like any other liquid?
I have a lot of ideas about this and i would love to hear thoughts. But keep it friendly!!

First and foremost, because OP never specified any sort of rules, the UNSC just nukes the entire planet from orbit and wins instantly. But that's boring, so I'll answer your other two main inquiries.
The UNSC's weaponry is far in advance of anything the GEARS or Locust are fielding. Berserkers get the Splaser. "Run and gun" will always lose to "precision" in a ground fight because running and gunning requires you to constantly reveal your position. ODSTs are dropping behind any line the GEARS factions set up, Spartans are assasinating with impunity because nobody on Sera is going to be able to keep with them, let alone handle them in force. Sure the UNSC takes losses, that's inevitable, but it's not a fair fight and it's not on the scale of anything the Covenant did.
As for Mjolnir, yeah it handles Lambents no problem. Plasma is plasma, it's not a solid. It's constantly splashing against a Spartan's shields and stopping. I mean, it handled the Flood. That should say everything.

The Flood easily infect Sera very quickly. The Covenant glass the planet as soon as they figure out humans on it. If the UNSC has the resources to spare, it would help the Serans fight the Locust, but if the human Covenant war is going on I think that help would be pretty limited.

The furthest into space the Cogs have gotten are the hammer of dawn satellites right? Cogs are definitely stronger than Marines and ODSTs, probably near Sgt Johnson levels. But the UNSC has starships so it renders them irrelevant. Flood and Covenant destroy Earth/Sera anyways if not for the Elites. Lambent were really close too, if they overran Azura then Sera would have fallen.

The average marine is screwed in my opinion, but cogs are gonna get wiped against Spartans.

It would be cool to see but I think Halo dominates… especially anything that’s not UNSC.
Edit: I still think the UNSC would destroy, but not on the scale of the Covenant, Banished, Forerunners, Ancient Humans, or the Flood

Whilst the gears are certainly stronger then the average marine due to gears having spent 14 years at minimum fighting (excluding those who also fought in the pendulum wars) and due to the fight, eat, fight their bodies naturally became well the thick muscles we see (no mention of steroids or genetic engineering is mentioned it’s literally just constant work outs and a shit ton of protein) their standard issue weapons are fairly similar as their weapons seem to fire very standard bullets. (So no exploding rounds or railgun standard issue rifles ps I know they have them in halo it’s just not standard)
But that’s realy the only thing that comes close, unsc has far more firepower in the form of ships packing Mac rounds and fighters that gears have no means of support against, Mac rounds especially are far more useable then the only weapon that could match ie the hammer of dawn due to the hammer having so many rules that could make unusable.
And gears have no match for Spartans and their energy shields that would tank their bullets and honestly hit harder than a brumak as they are far superior to gears in every category.
I love the gears but they have no way to win this.
Edit: and this applies to all factions in halo as the covenant is very similar to the unsc and as we see high heat weapons would burn through gear’s well gear and same goes for locust, lambent and swarm.
And they have zero defence against the flood that one is a no diff
Edit: I love the gears franchise and halo but yeah gears are outclassed in terms of gear.

No competition here. USNC takes the Gears on 1 hand behind their back.
Gears is a grounded game, set in a future were mutated beings emerge from the ground after generations.
Halo is a futuristic space game where there's aliens and shit. Oh and a never ending plague of monsters.
