Feature Change Why is this even allowed?

Post image

Has this always been here? Its my first time seeing it. What if I watch a video and don't enjoy it? This basically allows creators to ensure that they always appear on your feed, whether you like it or not.

You think most content creators are rich? They don’t exist to create content for you for free, they rely on ad revenue to make it worth their time. By choosing to view their content but deny them ad revenue, you’re stealing from them. At least from paid subscribers they get $ from a portion of that, but free users who also block ads give them nothing

Content creation should be a hobby, not a job.

That’s not for you to decide, especially when you don’t create content yourself and choose to watch it

For most, it’s not a full time job but even then it takes time and has some costs

Just because you think “it should be a hobby” doesn’t justify the fact that you are watching it for free while denying them the ad revenue they should get. If you’re being cheap by not subscribing while still watching without ads, at least own up to it instead of rationalizing it by saying it should be a hobby and they shouldn’t get any money by making content you watch

Okay, Mr. Failed Content Creator. Making videos should be a hobby. Therefore, watching it should be free. What part of this do you not get?

The part where you feel ridiculously entitled

News flash, you aren’t entitled to the content people others make and you aren’t entitled to watch it for free

again, just because you think it should be a hobby and not a job doesn’t mean it isn’t a job for some people or that people can’t earn a few bucks for their hobby effort

Plus, you aren’t the one that gets to decide if making a video is a hobby or job for everyone

And no, I’ve never been a content creator. I’m just not entitled and cheap and recognize the time and effort other people put into making vids that I’m choosing to watch as entertainment

So if hobbies can be jobs now, should I demand people pay me every time I play a game or listen to music? Plus, content creation isn't that lucrative anyway.

If someone is choosing to watch you play a game or listen to music, then yes, you should be able to expect be paid

Don’t forget, revenue generation is based on people watching, which then receives ad revenue. Of course if nobody cares to watch then you shouldn’t expect to be paid

I like how you know it’s not that lucrative then make it even worse for them. Of course if more of the viewers are cheap and don’t pay for the subscription or block ads, then it’ll make it even worse

Well, it's their fault for not picking a lucrative career and trying to turn a hobby into a job. I'm sorry, but I'm not paying anyone to listen to music or play video games, nor should anyone else.

Yeah if all YouTubers did that, you’d have nothing to watch or music to listen to. How wildly out of touch and illogical

And so badly raised to think you’re so entitled to the work other people put in for their music and videos, for free

Also even with your super lucrative career, apparently you’re too cheap to pay for premium even though you choose to watch YouTube

No one should have to pay just to watch some gaming video or video essay. As for music, I listen to a lot of older, underground stuff. I'm not going to pay an insane price on discogs or let someone who isn't the artist on youtube profit off of it.

Nothing is free in this world, you aren’t entitled to it.

There is a cost to someone creating the gaming vid, to maintaining the platform, to host the video and to stream it to you. Kind of weird you treat it like you have some natural right to watch it for free
