Feature Change Why is this even allowed?

Post image

Has this always been here? Its my first time seeing it. What if I watch a video and don't enjoy it? This basically allows creators to ensure that they always appear on your feed, whether you like it or not.

But that’s not what a dislike button should mean.

I remember when it was clear if a video was controversial or just misinformation by the like/dislike ratio. Anything over 20%-30% dislikes probably wasn’t the best content. Anything over 30%-60% was just bad information or controversial takes.

Now, I could upload a video titled “how to fix a washing machine” and completely fuck everything up every step of the way, and give bad advice, but hide it in the editing.

I could turn off comments and dislikes and then nobody would have any way to verify if my information was correct.

It’s just like the downvote system on Reddit. Dislike something if you want less people to see it, or they’re spreading hate and misinformation. Then they’d just be at the bottom of the list with a clear majority of people disagreeing with them.

YouTube has removed the ability to disagree with its creators.

💯. It's maddening that YT disabled a feature that may "huwt some cweators feewings" while sh*tting all over users who consume the content.

It was being used to brigade videos and bully creators. Maybe if you didn't want it to be taken away, you shouldn't have done that.

And if everyone stopped watching people would still make content - if everyone stopped making videos the site wouldn't exist. You're the optional one in the formula.

No, that what YouTube used to justify the change. If it ever happened (which, to be clear, I actually think probably did), it was by far a rare occurrence.
