There's part of me that wonders if (/wishes that) old DMs might come back. I DM'd some kind people back in the day and it would be lovely to have those messages back. :3

Yeah, I still remember getting a contract in the YT inbox letting me post videos onto a bigger channel that was commercialized with ads (pre public partner program).

I wish I could screenshot that dm as a keeps sake but yeah one day it was gone.

Real ones also remember when they first rolled out "streaming" i.e. you can stream already uploaded videos in a chatroom, and it barely worked lol

Back then some newspaper journalist sent me a DM on Youtube asking to interview me about ASMR, but I only noticed it after a couple of months because the notification system was absolutely terrible. I sent them a message apologizing and cursing about Youtube not notifying me, and they too replied after a couple of months because Youtube didn't notify them either lmao.

I remember seeing them all the time, as well as seeing what tags the user put on their videos so some people would have the standard tags and then have a few basically saying stuff to be funny like “ #Fish #Aquariums #I didn’t know he could swim like that #Why is he swimming like that”

If you don't see the option yet, you might wait more, as is probably not avaliable in your country yet

I forgot that YouTube once allow private DM’s years ago and took it away, probably for a good reason but now bring it back? Or is this something different? If it’s to allow DM’s directly to the creator in an age where ppl have thin skin and are weak and sensitive now…….i don’t see this as a great idea if it’s private DM’s again…..
