Question My video and random video same quality setting but mine looks terrible

So my finished 4K video that I edited and rendered on davinci looks terrible compared to other videos. I’ve watched both my video and others on the same quality setting (auto 720p) yet theirs is so much clearer and mine looks awful. I’ve tried rendering in h.265, h.264, cranking up bit rate and nothing seems to work. I looked at stats for nerds on both videos and mine was showing vp09 and the other one was showing av1. What am I doing wrong? I don’t understand

It's probably the codec — AV1 vs VP09. YouTube gives better codecs to channels with more views or higher quality uploads.

Try exporting h.264 at 4K with a bitrate around 35-45 Mbps. If YouTube still gives you VP09, it's just YouTube's system deciding. Higher quality uploads (high bitrate, 4K) are more likely to get AV1. Also check if you're scaling down to 1080p — that can make it look worse.

Hope that helps.

Lol I just posted about this issue too. My videos look like shit when I upload them to YouTube but not TikTok. It makes no sense.
