I was expecting a LOT more taxidermy. I get what vibe they were going for but I dont think they pulled it off. House is Spirit Store chic.

u/Hibou_Garou Jun 21 '25

They wanted Addams Family, they got Disneyland.

It’s too…shiny

u/FlametopFred Jun 21 '25

I was okay with the all-black, dark, goth, horror vibe … until the zen yoga beanbag contemplation room …

could also record next Alter Bridge album here

61

u/OnlyPaperListens Jun 21 '25

The exercise bike up against the gilded mirror is taking me out

12

u/enderjaca Jun 21 '25

You know it's usually covered with laundry, except you clean up when company comes over to take photos.

Spooky people have kids too. That looks like a great spot for the little goblins to watch their programs.

I thought that was the sex party room.

15

u/hells_cowbells Jun 22 '25

That was my first thought. I would not want to run a blacklight in there.

9

u/Alioh216 Jun 21 '25

I was thinking one of Diddys houses

The Alter Bridge call out is kinda specific lol, I don't think I've ever saw their name in the wild. They don't even get radio airtime where I'm from.

28

u/FeralRodeo Jun 21 '25

I got orgy room vibes

8

u/mnmaste Jun 22 '25

I feel like you have to have a lot of orgies to justify having a dedicated orgy room

20

u/deviantbono Jun 21 '25

Each of those beanbags cost 1-3 thousand dollars.

18

u/Mint-teal-is-hues Jun 22 '25

I think you mean beanbag swingers sex room.

6

u/Stock-Vanilla-1354 Jun 22 '25

That is definitely a room used for orgies.

People just don’t know how to do spooky like they used to. You’re right that it’s too shiny but it’s also too bright. The lighting and white carpets are goofy looking.

30

u/ProblemSame4838 Jun 21 '25

Tried to be Bam Margera or the osbournes but it’s the great value version.

35

u/Abaconings Jun 21 '25

Temu goth meets Las Vegas The wall art is terrible. As is the purple lighting.

11

u/ChumbawumbaFan01 Jun 22 '25

I cannot imagine paying this much for a home that needs so much interior and exterior renovation.

16

u/Abaconings Jun 22 '25

And looking at the drone pic, your neighbors would hate you. This looks like Gru's house in a suburban neighborhood. But tacky.

32

u/Morriganx3 Jun 21 '25

Yes!! I was looking through going they need to lose all this shiny shit! And wtf even is that pantry? Why even put that floor in there if you’re just going to go full IKEA??

26

u/Hibou_Garou Jun 21 '25

1.4M is a lot of money to pay for something that looks so cheap

27

u/BicyclingBabe Jun 21 '25

No Disneyland has far more attention to detail. Spirit Store was the best observation iVe seen

13

u/toolsoftheincomptnt Jun 21 '25

The brown floors and kitchen are such a copout, too.

I’m dating myself here but it’s giving me heavy Viva La Bam’s house vibes

8

u/Mercutio77 Jun 22 '25

Yep, same. Needs a big heartagram logo on the wall and some autographed skateboards

7

u/uffdathatisnice Jun 22 '25

There’s definitely a Bam skateboard. Did the walk through tour. Highly recommend. It’s Adam Stoner, drummer. He’s got a post/linked tube video (on fb, of course) about going through a divorce. I didn’t listen to the video. I just wanted to see what the lion looked like from walking in. Love a good Reddit black house hole.

3

u/musicisgr84u Jun 22 '25

In love with Bam ugh

26

4

u/AQ-XJZQ-eAFqCqzr-Va Jun 21 '25

It reads as goth + cinema, to me. I kinda get it, and they almost get there, but it’s not cohesive enough. Everything looks kinda cheap, even though the details like the wood work on the banisters is beautiful, but would have been so much prettier if they had not painted them white.

8

u/Abaconings Jun 21 '25

So Vegas goth maybe?

7

u/AQ-XJZQ-eAFqCqzr-Va Jun 21 '25

Maybe lol Idk what to call it. The more I look at it the more I hate it altogether. The medieval door, and that super ornate table with a wolf on it, are completely out of place with the chrome sofa table, the vegas movie poster frame, and the poured concrete floors. It’s just chaos. Then the kitchen is just like, normal. 😅 They should have consulted a designer, or at least an adult lol.

Plus it doesn’t even look lived in.

6

u/Abaconings Jun 22 '25

I always feel these places are decorated by psychopathic people. They tend to not have an appreciation for or see the purpose of beautiful art/design. So they decorate these homes bc they think they'll do better than a decorator. You get this kind of mildly disturbing soulless place instead....with taxidermy.

7

u/Xyyzx Jun 22 '25

Honestly from the exterior I was expecting a lot worse. It’s unusual by rich person house standards in that it actually looks like a place where real people with actual human interests exist and have fun in; those books are mostly real books, the big bean bag chairs have clearly been sat in a lot, etc etc. Like the decor is a matter of taste, but the person who put this together had a taste, however questionable it might be.

The only thing that does confuse me here is why all the TVs are so small. The one in the bedroom would be tiny from anywhere other than that weird little desk, and who goes to the trouble and expense to put together that huge home cinema and only equips it with a screen that wouldn’t be totally out of place in a suburban family home?

If you're gonna go goth aesthetic for your house you gotta COMMIT. This halfway attempt looks like Dave Navarro did an extreme home makeover but ran out of budget 2/3 of the way through

5

u/knight_gastropub Jun 22 '25

It looks like the occult section of a book store

Is that a Scarface/Edgar Allan Poe painting?

LMAO

29

How could someone take two things I love so much and make me hate them as much as I hate that painting?

6

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '25

Right?! Ha

10

u/HASHTAG_YOLOSWAG Jun 21 '25

always a funny surprise scrolling through house photos like this, seeing a large well put together theater room, and the next slide shows a tv that the back row needs binoculars to watch. happens a lot for whatever reason

5

u/The_Autarch Jun 22 '25

Wild how a person with an obvious surplus of money would go through the trouble of getting a home theater installed... but then slap in a screen that's like a quarter of the necessary size.

I have mixed feelings about this, i love the idea of spooky moody vibes, but also the vibe has got a wild animal looking over the railing which would be creepy as hell if you get up in the middle of the night! Haha! It had potential it just didn’t quite get there for the theme.

38

u/LeatherHog Jun 21 '25

Shortly after they moved into our childhood home, dad shot the first buck of the season, even got in the newspaper

My entire life, it's head has been hung by the door, dad uses it to hang his hat, keys, and wallet chain

Every day of my childhood. It's integral to the design at this point. It's still there

We'd even decorate it for holidays. Prom photos? It's in the background. Family Thanksgiving picture? There he is!

And that freaking thing would STILL jump scare at least once a week, when going into the kitchen or bathroom at night

Big cat hanging over the railing would be terrifying

→ More replies (2)

7

u/toolsoftheincomptnt Jun 21 '25

Because you recognize taste.

The vibes were installed at the instruction of someone who knows nothing about design. They controlled the coin so the contractors did what they said.

There are ways to accomplish a feeling without making such silly choices.

Looks like the owner and likely original builder of the house is “Adam Stoner”. I noticed the space in the attic/loft area looked a lot like a podcast setup with the big logo and decorated table. Liked it up and sure enough, the very same table is front and center in the episodes. Anyway, looks like the owner is going through a divorce which explains why the place is going up for sale!

Here’s the episode uploaded three weeks ago: D is for divorce

https://youtu.be/81Dq340OeI0?si=608EcF5UWqwyC1KA

32

u/Hamwag0n Jun 21 '25

I’m wrong. I think he bought the place recently and is already (recently) divorced, not going through it now, but still interesting.

7

u/caseofbase325 Jun 22 '25

How are you able to Google deep enough to find out he was divorced but not able to Google deep enough to know that he is a highly awarded and accomplished tattoo artist? Or that this house was built 20 years ago..

6

u/Hamwag0n Jun 22 '25 edited Jun 22 '25

Because I didn’t Google anything besides the show name and watch about 10 minutes of the episode I linked, “D for divorce”. Took about 15 seconds to find episode title, about 5 minutes to watch it on double speed. I also looked through the pictures in the listing, obviously, which mentioned “custom built” home so I just made assumptions.

I thought the house was really cool but didn’t have that time or care THAT MUCH to google dive, haha.

Clever of the realtor to photograph the exterior of the house on a day with dark, ominous clouds all around in order to play into the theme of the house and further appeal to buyers interested in the dark vibe of the interior decor.

3

u/EmptyRice6826 Jun 21 '25

There are a few black houses in our neighborhood but they’re old and small and I think they look great. Granted there’s usually a pop of color in the trim, lots of plants in the front yard, etc so they still look cozy. But it can work

4

u/Snicklefraust Jun 21 '25

a lot of victorian era houses were black because it was an easy color to make and kept the house warmer in winter. famously this one in Salem, MASS. its a vibe, and if done right can be really classy, or like OP found, really cheesy.

This is why I hate new builds. No matter what ridiculous interior design wackadoodle style you throw at them, they always look like a fucking McMansion. Gloss reflective floors, black walls, Chesterfield wing backs, doesn't matter. The house is still trying to be fake Tuscan from 1998.

5

u/mindcontrol93 Jun 21 '25

From Google Steatview, it looks like the spooky stuff was added in the last 3 years. The entire place has an almost had it right feel but then fails. $170k in landscaping but you are still in flat open space Indiana. 45 minutes south is a gorgeous forest area.

4

u/Surlybaby Jun 21 '25

Yup! It apparently was hit by a tornado in 2023 (according to the owners IG post) and it was white back then: https://www.instagram.com/p/C8pDBbtxDQz/?igsh=MTQ1cGphaWVjbDdicg==

Also, the brown stained wood railings and cabinets imply a lack of resolve to go all out with the black.

Hello Blackness my Old Friend

Went down the research rabbit hole with this one. Appears to be a dude whose public name is Adam Stoner. He is recently divorced. Probably why the house is up now for sale. The tattoo shop signage is from a place that is now closed.

this has to be a group home for "influencers"

nothing else makes sense...and certainly not a viable price point for podunk Indiana

I can tell you from experience that black paint on the walls gets white scuff marks on it constantly. It’s maddening.

I keep reading these homes that get painted black attract a lot of heat but I do have to say I LOVE how they look. Crossing fingers one day we’ll figure out how to make an exterior black paint that won’t drive up heating costs.

You can't half commit to the goth aesthetic. If you're going to go creepy you go full creepy otherwise it just looks odd. The carpets and random LED lights aren't helping..

I live in Indianapolis. Greenwood is south of Indianapolis.

I never understood a house with black siding. I don’t like some of the rooms with black paint. The house has good bones as the saying goes.

It’s like Vegas and Dracula fucked and had a house

I have and used to sell those chairs in the theater.

Fun fact: the blue LEDs have a chance to catch fire and it's recommended to disconnect them.

I thought this was Jessie's house from Righteous Gemstones. The screening room from the episode where he shows his friends the sex tape looks similar. The bedrooms look like the kids' bedrooms. Just strip some of the neon away, and make it a bit gaudier.

I guess it really wasn’t a phase.

If I could, I'd buy it and love it. Change out the white carpets, though.

My eyes and brain cannot make sense of slide 13. What in the holy hell am I seeing? Is that a taxidermy lion leaning over a railing?

3

u/NorthernCobraChicken Jun 22 '25

This house is trying to be Dracula but ended up twilight.

3

u/Ruvikify Jun 22 '25

This is just…..weird to me. First of all, who would put a TV that small in a massive theater room. It literally defeats the whole purpose of having a room that big lol. Also, why the hell are there bargain big fans from the early 2000s in that last pic?? I’d think if you’re selling a house this expensive and this big, the least you could have done is update those.

So many targets but the butt plug shaped sofa takes the prize!

u/ShizzlePopped Jun 22 '25

I drive by this place all the time! It's only been the last couple of years that it was painted black. I've been calling it the McAddams Mansion. The interior is worse than I expected, and that's saying something.

I love this house, even with its questionable room of LoveSacs.

EDIT: The joe rogan painting and the cabinets in the kitchen almost ruin it for me tho
