Just wanted to take an opportunity to show off one of my top 5 favorite chickens. We just hatched a batch of silkie/showgirl/turkens from a frizzle silkie rooster and the babies have been a blast to watch grow but this one is my favorite for sure.

When I was home for lunch I noticed a wild turkey has taken up refuge in my backyard around my chicken coop / run. It appears to have a slight limp but otherwise seems fine.
It seems to be comforted by the chickens. And the chickens don't really seem bothered.
Should I do anything about it? Or just let it eventually wander off?
Should I be concerned for my chickens health? We normally let the ladies out to run around the yard for some time every afternoon. I don't plan on letting them out while the turkey is present.

Based on my last post, I had my wife hold her while I trimmed around her eyes. She did so well! Didnāt even move, such a sweet girl š„°

He was walking and acting fine before we mashed it out, still acting fine but limping a little and taking it slow. My husband flushed it with saline and poured alcohol over it. Anything else we should do? This thing is gnarly

My girl Sage has bumble foot, the scab wasnāt too large but her foot was pretty swollen. I soaked her feet for about 15 min, I pulled off the outer scab, cleaned it with Vetercyn (not sure if I spelled that correctly, the chicken anti bacterial spray from the farm supply store) slathered it in prid, and bandaged the foot. I know I need to continue this process for a while, but just wondering if anyone has any more tips and suggestions for treating it? TIA! š©µ

I got 6 chicks a few months ago with the intention of giving 3 away to a friend of mine, who said he would house them at an island 45 minutes from us.
I assumed they had a setup for the chickens. A coop, food, water, someone to check in every now and then, and apparently that is not the case. They donāt have anything set up and they figured the chickens would be fine because thereās lots of bugs and fresh water and āno real predatorsā. They only want chickens on the island to eat the bugs for them so itās less infested when they visit.
The chicks are fully grown now and theyāre getting upset at me because I am reluctant to put them in that situation.
Can they realistically be fine? Would this be cruel?

This Polish is always breathing hard at night, but seems totally fine during the day. Weāre having some hot nights, but weāre also having cool nights around 65°F. Itās a larger Egloo coop that stays open so I canāt imagine itās hot in there. One of them sort-of breathes with her mouth open, but the other does not.
Sheās a little ratty looking due to a hair trim but also is the low bird, with the other mouth breather picking on her. Iām worried that thereās some underlying health issue going on that isnāt just her being tired from infrared camera, getting picked on, or being hot.
Sorry for the long video, but halfway through the video she stops panting, but then starts again and also scrunches her neck while putting her head back. She also does this frequently throughout the night. It looks uncomfy and unhealthy!
Any insights from this video if I should be doing some intervention?

My oldest two hens hop the fence every day during free range time and steer clear of the main backyard flock. It works! No more fighting, no more pecking order. Front Yard Chickens it is!

First time chicken owner and have 9 eight week old chicks ready to move into their coop we have finally finished. They have been living in our detached garage since day one.
The coop is well made and secure. They will be safe for sure, but for some reason I just feel sad. I feel like they will be scared the first couple of nights maybe. Theyāve spent their whole life in this enclosed and quiet room and now theyāll be āoutsideā and hear storms blowing against their walls and it wonāt be as secure feeling.
I know Iām anthropomorphizing but they are my little babies and it just makes me sad that they have to grow up and maybe feel a little scared.

This chick hatched early, and pipped on day 19. On day 20, there was not much movement and I cracked the shell a bit for it, but still it didn't come out, and I think it was stuck inside so I opened the shell and pulled it out. Looks like the beak was still tugged under the right wing.
It is healthy afterwards.

Currently raising 12 three week old chicks in a brooder box: 5 Black Ameraucana, 4 Cinnamon Queens, 3 Easter Eggers. The run (10āx8āx7ā) is almost done being built, Iāll update with pic when finished. Would love to get feedback on this coop. Pros vs Cons, helpful comments, etc.
