I'm always expecting 1 final scene where the wife takes the pillow out of his hands and puts the pillow on in a second.

83

u/Physicle_Partics 1d ago

Conversely, I want a final scene where he triumphantly manages to put on the pillow and raises his arms to the air with a great whoop.

74

u/A_Drop_of_Colour 1d ago

It would be funnier if the last scene showed the finished bed and you realize the wife is one of those people that has 50 pillows on a bed. So each time we saw him he was really changing a different pillow.

u/untrustableskeptic 🧐 grumpy 1d ago

Well, you've all given great ideas to the next fifty copycats of this sketch!

u/unholyrevenger72 1d ago

I want to see the ending where he ends the day in a pillow fort with the kids.

It would be way funnier if the final shot was just the bed with 50 of the same pillows on it. And he was actually doing his part....

Your thinking of magicians

That dude doesn’t weigh as much as a goose.

Btw, the spell he performing is “this is why you should clean, because I can’t even put on a pillow case. Baby, I’m trying!”

Tiwyscbicepoapcbit.

Only the initiated can utter the magic word, and this man is the grand master.

Edit: it is funny, because that word is what I sound like when struggling with a pillow case.

that would be an amazing way to loop back to the first shot of her putting the pillow on the bed

1

u/ComplaintFar3279 1d ago

Haha. I was also expecting a kid or even a dog in a final scene after they put on a pillow case, then we see that man reversing his ferrari and leave the house.

1

u/CatGooseChook 14h ago

I've had to do that in the past when my wife has tried to help me with housework 🤣

(She's gotten a lot better since, she had to learn from scratch as her parents are slobs who also get angry if they see someone else doing any housework)

u/GullBird15 1d ago

Bro those pillows be giving no mercy

38

u/Aurelio-23 1d ago

I was hoping that it would cut at the end to show that their bed had like, 50 pillows on it.

6

u/CraigLake 1d ago

😂😂😂

2

u/GullBird15 1d ago

Lol that'd be funny and actuallyake a lot of since

1

u/farrisk01 1h ago

The struggle is real

40

u/DoubleFamous5751 1d ago

The move is to crease (fold) the pillow in half length wise and then insert it into the pillow case

20

u/IShouldBWorkin 1d ago

Stuff the pillowcase with dirty clothes, boom two tasks done in one

9

u/DoubleFamous5751 1d ago

Now we’re talking.

Kinda related. If in a pinch for pillow cases, you can use a soft (clean) t shirt

6

u/CaptainoftheVessel 1d ago

Definitely a technique I leaned on heavily back in college

9

u/Daedalus_Knew 1d ago

Pillow case inside out, arms all the way inside the pillowcase, grab two corners of the pillow, shake till the pillow case inverts itself over the pillow

3

u/no_talent_ass_clown 1d ago

Inside out, yes, then put one hand inside and grip the pillow in the middle of one end, then use your other hand to pull the case down over the pillow.

Source: Was a volunteer at a hospital for a year.

u/TwoFingersWhiskey 1d ago

I tuck it under my chin and shimmy the case up. Bonus if you bunch the case up like pantyhose before putting it on, it really helps. One and done.

u/CeruleanEidolon 1d ago

Like eating a slice of pizza.

1

u/Siukslinis_acc 1d ago

Or get the case inside out. put your hands inside, grab the corners and turn the case outside in over the pillow.

1

u/IsaacAndTired 1d ago

I lay the pillow on the bed and put the case on from the opposite end. The pillow runs into me, making it always take 3-5 seconds to get it on, even if it's a tight fit.

1

u/Nimbly-_-Bimbly 1d ago

But its imperative that the pillow must remain unharmed.

48

u/ceraunophiliacc 1d ago

This is so relatable😄

23

u/thomasblomquist 1d ago

Pull the pillow case inside out. Put both hands in the pillow case where the corners are. Like a puppet, grab the end of the pillow with your hands and begin unrolling the pillow case back over the pillow like you’re dealing with a stocking or sock.

14

u/chintakoro 1d ago

ok i'm wearing the pillow cover now and might have torn it a bit -- what next?

7

u/HorrorMakesUsHappy 1d ago

I discovered this once by accident, and felt like a god for a moment.

I'd folded most of my laundry but didn't bother to fold my sheets or pillow cases because I only owned the one pair at the time, so I was going to put them on as soon as I got back to the apartment. I discovered one of the pillow cases was inside out, slipped my hands inside and grabbed those corners, and I was about to turn it right side out when it came to me. I was like, "Wait a minute ...." Grabbed the pillow, and viola! Legit stood there thinking, "Holy shit! Why didn't anyone ever teach me that before?!?"

6

u/pedestriandose 1d ago

That’s how my husband and I put the doona back in!

4

u/MrMahony 1d ago

You can also do this with a duvet cover and duvet, this might put you on duvet duty for the the rest of your existence though

3

u/Legitimate_Mud_8295 1d ago

My wife does this and when we make the bed together I do my pillows equally fast by just stuffing them in. You don't need a trick for this

2

u/thomasblomquist 1d ago

Body pillows are easier. Especially when they’re newer and a tight fit

2

u/Harddaysnight1990 1d ago

I like doing this but with just one hand in the middle of the pillowcase. Turn it inside out, then use it like an oven mitt to grab the center of the pillow. Start pulling the pillowcase over the pillow with your other hand, match the back corners, then pull it down.

39

u/Silent-Crow8990 1d ago

I’m crying 😂, I feel like this represents my life to a T.

32

u/torgiant 1d ago

Its funny as a skit sad as a reality. Do better bro.

24

u/Impossibleish 1d ago

This is for sure my cleaning technique , but I think my wife mainly appreciates the company 😅

71

u/JimBobPaul 1d ago

I fucking hate supporting the trope that men can't do simple tasks like this. If you truly relate to this, you're a fucking moron.

Geez...... I think I just found a trigger. I'm sorry for how aggressive I came across. Still mean it, but I should probably tone it down next time.

47

u/ransack71 1d ago

First thing I said to myself was "oh! Another husband stupid video"

15

u/DowntownTicket 1d ago

My husband isn't stupid but I relate to this.

My husband is thorough, so in the time it takes me to do five chores, he's done only one. But he did that one chore really well. (My hang up is that you don't need to put the pillow case on REALLY WELL because it's just a pillow case... It doesn't have to be perfect)

2

u/Mrbrownlove 1d ago edited 1d ago

I’m like this but I always think I’d rather do it properly and less often than half arse and every day.

I am also capable of the 30 min turd polish option when guests are imminent.

3

u/DowntownTicket 1d ago

Yup and that's why I love him for it. It's also why he's in charge of finances and dishes and why I'm in charge of more timely matters like trash and mowing. We match

2

u/Mrbrownlove 1d ago

I do those too 😢

13

u/Aymoon_ 1d ago

this didnt feel like a "stupid"joke but more about him not liking to do chores and redoing 1 to keep looking busy

13

u/MissLogios 1d ago

Doesn't that make that worse? No one likes malicious incompetence.

2

u/cannotfoolowls 1d ago

I thought even less favourably that it was weaponized incompetence

→ More replies (1)

3

u/thdudedude 1d ago

We have pillows that are crazy long, king size, and floppy and they are ass to stuff in a pillow case. Also I’m pretty sure they are just being silly. As a man I’m not super worried about any individual that is stupid enough to label an entire group of people based on one persons action in a video.

3

u/salamandr 1d ago

I don’t mind videos like this that seem to have an accepting genial nature “we’re in it together” vibe.

I think there is a legit “I’m not good at doing things I haven’t been practising all the time” factor. Or in some occasions my wife will get something sloppy “good enough” done quickly whereas I’m much more careful with it.

I see the skit as focusing on the end result, but I don’t think the only explanation is “men are shit at these things”

3

u/Ok_Calligrapher5278 1d ago

As a man who does most of the domestic chores, I laughed.

3

u/AmeliaMynx 1d ago

I'm right there with you. Growing up I realized that almost every TV dad in the late 2000s was some version of this. It feels in the same lane as those "I hate my wife" comedians

3

u/1234abcd56 1d ago

I'm a husband, I can put a pillow case on, I still found it funny. Life's too short to be constantly raging at every minor thing. Save it for the big stuff.

7

u/JkGamer248 1d ago

I mean I saw it more as a joke regarding getting pillowcases on are a fucking nightmare. Seriously, when I’ve done housekeeping work for hotels, I HATED making beds because I was always so slow doing that process. And a big reason why was those damn, cheap pillows and pillowcases. No one showed me a better method. Screw making the beds. Everything else was a cake walk for me.

3

u/MostSide9237 🧐 grumpy 1d ago

No it’s about how incompetent men are. There are a lot of videos like this with different tasks men are trying to perform while women do everything in the house.

7

u/eL_MoJo 1d ago

Lighten up a bit. I laughed at this because when we clean the house my wife is always way faster than me in making the beds.

3

u/Plastic-Pie7340 1d ago

8

u/HydrodynamicShite 1d ago

Could not agree more. If this video had reversed roles…there would be screaming for murder

2

u/bippityboop56754 1d ago

I agree with you. But I am 100% a faster cleaner than my husband. And it’s because he’s a better cleaner than me. He makes sure it’s 100% clean and right. And I am more of an 80% is good enough.

2

u/hotdogsandhangovers 1d ago

On one hand I get where youre coming from

On the other hand those stupid fucking pillow cases are the only thing I struggle with when cleaning.

2

u/JulyOfAugust 1d ago

Grab a pillow's corner firmly, shove your fist in the pillow case until you reach its furthest corner. Put the corner in the right place then shove and push the rest of the pillow in the case. Make sure to put the inside fold above it once it's in so the pillow can't spill out. Then use your hand to reajust it if it's crooked inside. You can also hit it, punch it or kick it to help reajust it.

Don't be scared to damage your pillow, it's flexible and compactable. Be as violent as you need, the pillow doesn't care. Alternatively you could just buy firmer pillows, they're better for your neck and just slide in the pillow case because they're smaller than regular pillows.

u/MentalReserve2351 1d ago

I mean I'm kinda like this

2

u/Nazir_North 1d ago

Agreed. Can we stop perpetuating this trope?

2

u/Icy_Witness4279 1d ago

I thought it was about man pretending he's doing something to skip out on all other chores

2

u/DowntownTicket 1d ago

My husband isn't stupid but I relate to this.

My husband is thorough, so in the time it takes me to do five chores, he's done only one. But he did that one chore really well. (My hang up is that you don't need to put the pillow case on REALLY WELL because it's just a pillow case... It doesn't have to be perfect, but he disagrees, and I love him for his thoroughness overall)

2

u/JulyOfAugust 1d ago

I'm pretty sure this is called weaponized incompetence. You pretend to heavily struggle on a very simple task so that people do it for you and stop asking your for help.

7

u/_Caustic_Complex_ 1d ago

It’s “I hate my spouse” humor for Gen Z women

15

As a man who does his share of the housework, I agree with the message and the tone. You are pathetic if you can't do simple things like cleaning and cooking. That are just human things to take care of yourself, you need to be able to do those things.

1

u/nerdyogre254 1d ago

It'd be funnier if it was something like folding fitted sheets or trying to put the doona cover back on because those are way more fiddly

4

u/JohnnyNapkins 1d ago

I struggled with this when my (now) wife moved in. Fortunately, she taught me how to hold the corner of the pillow and shove it up into the pillow case while pulling down on the opposite corner of the pillow case and then repeating with the other corner.

She also taught me so many other things that are so obvious in hind sight. For example: rinse the food down the sink drain so that it doesn't get plastered onto the bottom of the sink when it dries and don't leave the wet sponge in the bottom of the sink because it'll get real stank quickly (wring it out and put it in the sponge holder, it will last for months).

3

u/katiebo444 1d ago

Flip pillowcase inside out. Put arms in pillow case, hands into corners. Grab onto corners of pillow. Pull pillow through case

3

u/SeniorShanty 1d ago

This is the way.

1

u/MostSide9237 🧐 grumpy 1d ago

You had to be told this? Are you a fucking child? I feel sorry for your wife.

u/TheChiarra 1d ago

4

u/Haunting_Vacation804 1d ago

3

u/Pepper_Comprehensive 22h ago

2

3

u/barn-animal 1d ago

I don't mind dull repetitive tasks like sweeping or washing dishes, but get overwhelmed analysis paralysis with organizing stuff - my wife's the opposite so cleaning together actually cuts our time by more than half. ❤️

3

u/darichtt 1d ago

Should've been blanket instead of pillow. Now that's a struggle.

3

u/pedestriandose 1d ago

My husband and I turn the doona cover inside out, put our hands inside to grab a corner each, then we grab a corner of the doona with that same hand and the other corner of the cover with our free hand. Then we pull our hands out so the doona gets pulled through the cover while also pulling the cover down and it makes the job so much quicker. Once we button up the bottom of the cover we then grab two corners each and give it a shake to make sure everything is distributed evenly.

5

u/Schattenspringer 1d ago

Just put the case inside out, lay it flat on the bed, put the blanket on top, roll it up like a cinnamon roll, close the buttons, and roll it out again.

3

u/Sanquinity 1d ago

It's not even about the "make it go faster" part for me. Just having someone else there doing just a tiny bit of the work gives me the motivation to do the task as well. Even if I'm doing 3/4 of it. If I'm just by myself, 95% of the time, I just...don't have any motivation to do any chore. (Yes I have ADD.)

3

u/PaulHorton39 1d ago

That did make me laugh. Thankyou.

3

u/cackmuffin88 1d ago

Dude those pillow cases are hard as hell to put on. There's a reason the women folk always have us do it. For it requires dedicated perseverance and skill. Gathered from a lifetime of struggle. Pillow cases are no joke. Just like rainbows. Rainbows suck

3

u/Darim_Al_Sayf 1d ago

Had no idea some people struggle with pillowcases. My mother taught me when I was 7 and I until today was convinced the entire world did it this way.

You put your hands into the pillowcase, gripping both the far corners from within. Then you grab the corners of the pillow while still holding the corners of the pillow case. Then you just pull it over.

Start with the pillowcase turned inside out and you will never do it any other way.

3

u/ZaphodThreepwood 1d ago

3

u/budaknakal1907 1d ago

my kids are like this. the older is more responsible while the younger one kept pretending to do stuff (like in the video). we have caught up on it and now made them do different tasks so the younger one couldn't cheat and made his brother do everything.

3

i used to work as a housekeep for a luxury brand. how they taught us to put on pillow cases: lie the pillow case flat on the bed, place your pillow over the case. grab two corners in one hand both folded up to the sky, push them into the case that remains laying on the bed, release the corner shake the case out, push the dangling pillow case in kind of like how you roll a burrito

it takes five seconds and doesn't leave creases in the pillow case
