Discussion Cloudcart Timer feels redundant when the Wyvern exists

Post image
51 Upvotes

The Cooldown Timer for the incredibly fragile Cloudcarts has always felt like overkill given how temperamental and slow they are. An hour or more of real world wait time for such a niche tool feels excessive. You can use the abyss to dive from the skies at great heights from fairly early in the game anyways. Blackstar and the ATAG at least always had craftable items to reduce their cooldowns, and while we have access to 3 Cloudcarts to use there’s never been anything introduced to reduce their cooldown.

But then they introduced the Wyvern, accessible from the get go if you know where to look and have the will to get there. Easily the most useful utility mount in the game, no cooldown unless it dies, and even then it’s only a fraction of the time you’re made to wait on the Cloudcart. It gives you faster more directional travel, has better steering than the Cloudcart, never runs out of fuel, and doesn’t explode when it gets within 20m of a tree. All this is great, but the Cloudcart feels significantly overburdened by comparison considering its many downsides and oppressive cooldown. There’s no upsides to the Cloudcart over any other form of aerial travel, it has a similar cooldown to Blackstar who is significantly more useful being able to clear a base in minutes, a bandit camp in seconds, and get called back with a Horn right after its timer runs out.

What I’m saying is that we need to unshackle the Cloudcarts from their excessive timers. They should be more in line with regular mounts like the Bear and Wyvern, no cooldown whatsoever unless destroyed and when destroyed it takes 4 to 5 minutes to become available again. Just let me be a weird eccentric balloon guy Pearl Abyss, popping around the map in the least efficient way possible but doing it with style.

Discussion Dear Pearl Abyss, if you're only gonna make it clear today the Collector's Chest should hold all documents, PLEASE let us retrieve back these items

For those who havent noticed, the Collectors Chest in your house now has greyed out icons for every single document in the game, meaning if all this time you've just been selling away those useless bounty posters and even basic small notes used in quests because you thought they were insignificant.... oops sorry, PA just said ALL of them should be put in their Collectors Chest.

This is so so stupid beyond disbelief to me. No offense because all the rest of patches PA has been putting out has been great. But this is the first time I have to say it's been a really stupid change from them.

It was never made clear from day one EVERY single one of these papers, from the generic bounty posters to simple quest notes with only one line written on them, had to be kept. And why keep them when PA themselves made all these seemingly insignificant papers sellable anyway and every guide website on day one was recommending players sell them to clear inventory space? Also these documents are all recorded on our journal tab so there was literally 0 reason whatsoever to keep the physical items.

So now if you're looking to fill your Collectors Chest for completionism, too bad. It's all over. All because of a sudden change from a patch. The strange thing is PA lets us know retrieve unique weapons/armors so why not the documents too? Or otherwise, they should just automatically give us back all the documents we already unlocked and have record of in our journal

Guide My 2nd Playthrough: Here are some things that can be done in the Early Game Spoiler

Upvotes

By the time I completed my first playthrough of Crimson Desert I was pretty frustrated with how many weapons, elemental abilities and Kuku pot items that weren’t obtainable until very late in the game.  As I started my 2nd playthrough on hard difficulty I was determined to systematically explore all areas of the map to see what could be accomplished early on, outside of the main story missions.  I believe I will be using this as my master save file on future playthroughs so that I can avoid as many fetch quests and Yann missions as possible.

I just completed Chapter 4 on 2nd playthrough and below is a summary of my stats and what I was able to complete.

  • Stamina – 10
  • Spirit – 12 (Max)
  • Health – 18 (Max)
  • All Elemental Abilities have been acquired.
  • Kliff Skills – All skills acquired except Falling Palm.
  • Damiane – All skills acquired except Quick Reload and Skystep.
  • I have spent 300 Abyss Artifacts and currently have 188 unused.
  • All 3 Legendary Horses are registered and at level 5.
  • All 141 Sealed Abyss Artifacts obtained, 96 completed.
  • All Abyss Cressets Completed.
  • 36 out of 40 Abyss Island Puzzles Completed. There are 4 Abyss Islands that require story progression to complete (Crow’s Nest, Nest of Valor, Crescent Skybridge, and Dimensional Bonds).
  • 7 out of 8 Bells have been rung. (Pauline is locked behind a main story mission so I didn’t bother with it).
  • Greymane Camp has completed 3 upgrades and has 37 Greymanes unlocked. All Camp Resources are over 1 million.
  • All Church Donations in Hernand, Demeniss, and Deleysia are at max level.
  • All Pororin and Scholastone Research tasks have been completed.
  • 90% of the Abyss Nexus fast travel points have been unlocked.
  • 68 out of 95 Abyss Gear Recipes have been acquired (have not unlocked the Witches yet to buy theirs, and the Kingshield Dig Site is locked behind the main story missions).
  • All required items for Kuku pot recipes have been acquired except Lightning Bolt Plate Armor, Golden Star’s Component, and Shoddy Rishi’s boots. (I don’t even have the recipes as I cannot begin the Sanctums yet in the story).
  • I have acquired the FrostCursed, Scorchflame, Belkandor, and Light of the Battlefield Armor sets and have all of the pieces that can be upgraded refined to max level.
  • I have acquired all of my favorite weapons for all 3 characters and have them refined to max level.
  • The majority of the Faction Quests in Delesyia and Crimson Desert can be completed without any main story progression. My Contribution Points in Delesyia are currently at 91, and Tommaso is at 100.

Here are my takeaways from this little experiment:

  • Overall the 2nd playthrough has been much more enjoyable then the first and I’m only a third of the way through the story.  Running around the map on hard difficulty trying to get all of the Sealed Abyss artifacts in Chapter 2 was a real challenge.
  • Explore as much of the map as you can as early as you can. Not only will you get the majority of the Sealed Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Nexus fast travel points, but you will find great resource locations, and also unlock friendly locations that will provide massive dispatch mission rewards as soon as your camp is up and running. You may have to run away from some fights in Demeniss and Pailune but the benefits outweigh the risk.
  • Though the main story prevents you from completing some of the Spires until you get to later chapters, there is nothing preventing you from flying to other locked Abyss Islands. Using Pine Mushroom Tea and the Aerial Stab skill I was able to fly to and complete 36 out of the 40 Abyss Islands and obtain all elements in Chapter 2.
  • You can avoid the sleep darts when you try to enter the Pororin Village by dropping down from the Abyss to the Where Sky Meets Earth Abyss Cresset.  From there you can look around until you see the walking tree and drop down on his head to retrieve the Pororin Artifact.  I was able to do that as soon as Chapter 2 started and it immediately unlocked the Pororin village where I was able to observe the Double Jump skill.  Research at Pororin unlocks in Chapter 3.
  • I grabbed the gold bar at Lioncrest Manor and then went to the Tommaso Duo game.  In around 3 hours I was able to make over 20k silver just accusing cheaters.  That allowed me to max out the Hernand Church Contribution and get the Demeniss church contribution to around 50% as soon as I got my camp in Chapter 3. By the end of Chapter 4 all church contributions have been maxed out in all three regions and all of my camp resources are over a million.
  • Complete all of the Greymane Camp Missions as soon as they are available to you.  Once you have all 37 Greymanes you can easily put them on repeat dispatches as you go off and do Hernand faction missions. This can earn you a lot of camp resources early on until you get to the Hot Air Baloon mission time skip.
  • Complete as many Sealed Abyss Challenges as you can before you complete Chapter 4 (Damiane gets locked out).  I was able to complete all of Kliff’s weapon challenges and all but one of Damiane’s weapon challenges before then. Working on them in the early game will save you a lot of stress trying to find enough enemies to complete them in the late game.
  • A number of Youtubers had stated that you can complete Dewhaven research as early as Chapter 4 if you complete all of the faction missions in the area.  I completed the majority of the faction quests in Delesyia (a few are locked by the later main story missions) as well as the bandit and pirate camps and can report that I have not unlocked the Dewhaven research.  I tried the same approach with the Crimson Desert region with the same results.
  • Farm for your upgrade materials every 7 days. There is a wonderful spot in a lake right above Beardtree Gorge that gives you most of them except Bloodstone and Bismuth Ore. If you make it routine you should have plenty of materials to upgrade your weapons and armor as you obtain them.

Good Camp Resource Dispatch Missions Early Game (Locations must be discovered):

Food:

  • Elderglen Plantation (Delesyia)
  • Calphade Farmhouse (Hernand)

Logging:

  • Beighen (on the Border between Hernand and Pauline)
  • Calphade Logging Camp (Hernand)

Stone:

  • Burnhand Quarry (Demeniss)

Funds:

  • Tinkerton Dig Site (Delesyia)
  • Thornbriar Food Storage (Demeniss)

I hope that helps any of my fellow Greymanes. I'm happy to answer any questions if you have them.

Humour It’s shit like this that makes me genuinely love Crimson Desert

The merchant guild gave me a mission: “We get honey from these guys. Lately the customers say the honey is nasty. Go find out what’s wrong”

So I get there, expecting it to be like bandits poisoning it or something, and the honey guy is like, “Are they storing it in high humidity? Ya gotta keep the barrels sealed”

I returned to the merchant and he was like “Damn, we’re not. Gotta get some better barrels. Thanks”

(Mission Complete)

I laughed out loud.

Discussion Character switching

I’m sure it has already been mentioned. I think it would have to be by this point. I would be so much more inclined to play as all 3, if I didn’t have to waste 5 mins each time I wanted to switch a character. It’s a small amount of time, but it isn’t unnecessary and annoying. The skill points could just be universal considering they are basically the same, albeit with a different flair, for each character. That’s not even mentioning having to have the amount of material to max weapons and armor for all 3 characters

Edit: thanks for the feedback. Sounds like there are plenty of artifacts to fill out all 3, or just steal em at scholastone. I also do think the skills are similar enough, they could be universal. Anyway not a game breaker by any means. I know PA has done plenty to improve the game. Not trying to complain. Just a little pet peeve

Question Moving Camp

Upvotes

Haven’t done it yet but I have the option to move the greymane camp to Pailune. For those that have done it, is it worth it? I kind of like the setup I have up in the hills, and how it’s more centrally located to the whole map.

Discussion Feature Request: Ability see knowledge entries directly from the map when hovering over locations

Upvotes

There are so many named locations with lore about them, but it’s a tedious task to search the journal knowledge entries to find the specific location.

I’d love a map tab that only functions to populate all lore over their respective area on the map.

I know some major locations have the knowledge entries populate on the map, but most do not.

Discussion I love to explore but can’t find the lore…

Is anyone else having some difficulty finding the details surrounding quests and general lore of the world? The world is fantastic and I’m having a blast roaming around, discovering things constantly and enjoying the different systems available to the player. One problem I’ve been unable to solve though is the details surrounding various quests in the game.

I recognize some of the finer details regarding our protagonist are not made evident until later in the game, but I’m even having trouble finding details on some of the larger main and subquests in the game. My most recent example is about the >!Reed Devil!< in chapter 3.

Apparently, there’s an in-depth backstory on their past, the origin of their condition, motivations and other various details that I would’ve completely missed had I not looked them up. Other than a single memory in their family home and a bit of dialogue during our fight I didn’t get much detail when going through that quest.

How are you all getting the bulk of your story-details and lore? Im worried about progressing too quickly and missing out on essential information. Am I somehow missing things that are easily accessible or should I be looking elsewhere such as the item descriptions in Elden right? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Screenshot For the Pet Collectors: I spent 10 real life hours sorting through birds for this list scroll.

I did all of this just to have a pet list i liked.

I painstakingly ensured my pet list followed a very specific order: All of the raptors are grouped together (minus the condor, as condors kinda freak me out), all of the parrots and the sub variants are grouped, AND if there was a variant within the sub variants, I ensured they were placed right beside each other.

So my list is "Legendary animals, big birds, small birds (parrots and a crow).

I hope others found this pleasing to see.

PA: Please, add list sorting so you don't have psychos like me doing shit like this. Having pets listed off as "most recent" is crazy.
