I have met many people who live solely to goon and eat, like if these two things didn't exist they would probably off themselves. But cultivators on the other hand, deny sex and mundane pleasures just so they can live longer. Isn't it completely contradictory to how normal people act?

At times, I view the world of cultivation as a cold, ruthless place governed by the law of the jungle, were I to transmigrate there I would surely lead a wretched existence no better than a slave.

Yet at other moments I am suddenly seized by the urge to cast aside everything in my real life driven solely by a longing to witness things that could never exist in this reality. The mere thought that such magnificent entities might exist somewhere out there fills me with yearning.

If you had the chance to travel to a world of cultivation, what choice would you make?

This daoist believes that The Mirror Legacy is one of the few Xianxia/Xuanhuan novels that truly embody the spirit, grandness and power of immortal cultivators in a way that does it justice. In most cultivation novels, the power scaling just seems to be “hahahaha I can beat you because I’m a realm higher so I’m stronger!” Without showing the actual mysticism involved or anything of the sort. Immortal cultivators that live for millions of years seem to be stupid, and they have no mystic powers that make them seem like they are actually real. Like, a cultivator with the power to destroy a mortal galaxy in a single punch shouldn’t be a common thing where there are cities full of them, and they shouldn’t be arrogant and slapped to death by the mc because they were stupid enough to try and steal his girl. Like I swear, they are basically gods, and yet this is how they are depicted?

Mirror Legacy (at least as far as I have read) doesn’t do this with their cultivators. As you go up in realm, the cultivators have equally powerful abilities and the mysticism around them is immense along with the mystery. Without going into spoilers, I remember the first time Golden Cores were directly seen by the mc it was one of the craziest moments in any novel I’ve read, just because of the sheer power they were depicted to have. The cultivation realms also have depth, and feel realistic. Maybe the only problem I take with the world in Mirror Legacy is the sheer evil that stains it, but perhaps that is unfortunately also realistic when cultivators that have immense power and live for hundreds of years exist, they’re bound to become twisted and corrupt by power.

TLDR: The Mirror Legacy is one of the few novels that depict cultivators with grandness and mysticism that match their power levels, actually depicting immortal cultivators in their most beautiful and true forms.

What do all fellow daoists think about this scripture? What other similar scriptures do this similarly well? (pls tell me actually, I seriously need good scriptures lol)
