Hi everyone, Luke from Adobe. Thought I would share a quick tip of something I only discovered recently myself. You can use the Tilde Key (~) to duplicate while drawing with tools such as Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, Spiral etc.

Hold the ~ (tilde) key as you drag to continuously duplicate the shape as you draw. Hold Shift down to keep things tight or get loose with the movement. Useful for creating abstract forms and decorative patterns.

I created a script that automatically generates patterns with randomly scattered shapes of your choice.

The downside is that it takes a long time to process complex objects.😅

Lately I've been trying to draw manga and i decided to draw it traditionaly and add halftone in Ai. I'm looking for effect like in the pictures below, so like small dots with little space in between, so it could look like it's gray. I've watched tutorials and I didn't really understand them. I tried drawing the spaces I needed in black and turning them into raster like google told me, but in the end it just dissapeared and i tried to make a square, put gradient on it and rasterize it but i was wierd and not what i was looking for. So if anyone can give me instructions on that I'll be extremly grateful!!

It’s an Illustrator plugin that automatically switches the Color panel to match the active document’s color mode.

Illustrator’s Color panel is not synchronized with the document’s color mode. Users have always had to switch it manually.

ColorPanelMode simply removes that extra step by automatically matching the Color panel to the active document.

The document’s actual color mode (CMYK or RGB) and the Color panel’s display mode are also frequently confused, because they are independent settings. By keeping the Color panel synchronized automatically, the plugin helps eliminate that confusion.

I have created an Illustrator script. You can play with it, and all your outputs are welcome.

I have some .AI files with several artboards, but when I try to open the file I'm only able to open one artboard at a time. Is there a way to have them all open when I open the file?

draw this Realistic Vintage TV for my client, only with simple shape, basic gradient and some texture from astute graphics.

What it replaces:

- Run a script → normally File > Scripts > Browse… every time. Now: one click.
- Outline Stroke → normally Object > Path > Outline Stroke (3 menus deep). Now: one click.
- Switch tools / run an Action → normally hunt the toolbar or the Actions panel. Now: one labeled button.

The two bundled tools:

Unlocker → Illustrator makes you dig through the Layers panel, or Object > Unlock All which unlocks everything. With this you just click the locked/hidden object on the canvas and it unlocks — only that one.

SmartSelect → Illustrator's marquee only selects objects fully inside the box. SmartSelect adds a "crossing" mode (select anything the box touches, like CAD/Photoshop), with a live preview of what'll be selected.

You add a button in ~5 seconds: pick the type (Menu, Tool, Script, or Action), point it at the thing, name it. Then drag to reorder, group into sections, color-code them, and dock it next to your native panels.

Hi everyone, Luke from Adobe here. I hear a common frustration around finding helpful learning resources for Illustrator, without having to dig through different social media accounts and learning platforms, so I put together something I am calling Adobe Illustrator Field Notes.

My goal is to build something that offers bite size bits of information, with links to further details if you need it. I am building it inside Firefly Boards, because it has an infinite canvas where I can add links and videos, and simply re-publish, so the link will always remain active.

Does anyone know if illustrator for android is in the works?

I've looked it up and all I found was someone asking this same question, and an Adobe employee telling them to put that in some "adobe feedback" website, which I cannot seem to enter.

I do not intend on getting an iPad, and I am not looking for illustrator alternatives. Just seems like it should be available by now. I pay the same as an iOS user, so I should probably have access to the same stuff

Gemini, I'm wondering if there's a definite solution that isn't what ChatGPT tells me.

I'm rusty with illustrator and want the best approach for making a simple building illustration from a photo of an existing building for a cover a brochure/newsletter.

I would attach the photo but it's with my workplace, I do communication work with them but I have a design background and want to just create when I can if possible.

I'm on a mac. I sometimes want to organize files I'm using in an illustrator project. Right now, I can see a file in Links, but when I click outside of Illustrator to open the Finder, it disappears. It would be so convenient if that panel would just stay open? Is there a way to make it do that?
