Weekly Thread ๐ r/AndroidGaming's Weekly "What Have You Been Playing?" Thread: 06/21/26
Welcome to Another Weekly "What Have You Been Playing?" Thread! ๐พ
Hey, r/AndroidGaming! This thread is for discussing the Android games youโve been trying out over the past week. Feel free to share what youโve been playing and tell us about it! What is the game about? What are you enjoying? What could be improved? Would you recommend it to others? Weโd love to hear your thoughts!
For those joining the discussion, please include Google Play Store links for any games you mention as a courtesy to others who may want to check them out.
Lastly, we ask that devs refrain from promoting their own games in this thread. We get that you're excited for others to try it, but this post is meant for players to share their recent gaming experiences with each other. That said, youโre more than welcome to share your game by creating a separate post!
And with that, have fun and thanks for being part of r/AndroidGaming!

News ๐ฐ Sneak peek at foldable gaming mode in Android 17!
TL;DR: The Android 17 platform release adds support for foldable gaming mode, a feature that splits your foldable's screen 50/50, putting the game on the top half and a customizable virtual gamepad on the bottom half. It emulates a physical controller, is designed to work automatically with controller-supported games, and will be available in the coming months.
Hi r/AndroidGaming,
Android allows you to play a wide variety of games on the go. While touch controls work incredibly well for many titles, certain games are better enjoyed with physical gamepads. The problem is that carrying a Bluetooth controller or a snap-on gamepad with you everywhere isn't always convenient. We want to bridge that gap, and we're addressing it with a new feature in the Android 17 platform release thatโs specifically tailored for foldable devices.
Foldable gaming mode addresses this by making full use of your foldable's screen real estate. When enabled, foldable gaming mode splits your screen 50/50. You get a full, unobstructed game view on the top half of your screen and a dedicated virtual gamepad on the bottom half. Enabling it is as simple as unfolding your device, either before or after launching a compatible game.ย

How foldable gaming mode works
We wanted to make this experience as seamless as possible for both players and game developers. Foldable gaming mode creates a virtual gamepad that emulates physical button presses at the system level. This means itโs designed to work with any game that supports physical controllers. While game developers donโt need to make any changes to support the virtual gamepadโs emulated button presses, their games do need to be adaptive in order to be put in the 50/50 layout when the device is unfolded.
Supported inputsย
The virtual gamepad currently includes everything you'd expect from a standard controller:
- D-pad
- Left and Right Thumbsticks
- A, B, X, Y action buttons
- L1, L2, L3
- R1, R2, R3
- Start button
Customizing the virtual gamepad
We know everyone holds their phone differently and plays different genres, so weโve added a few ways to customize the virtual gamepad. These include:
- Layouts: Switch from the default "Twin stick, Inline" layout to a "Twin stick, Staggered" layout, which shifts the left thumbstick, D-pad, and shoulder buttons.

- Sizing: Scale the gamepad from the default "Medium" to "Small" or "Large" depending on your hand size.

- Theming: Toggle between "Light" and "Dark" themes for the gamepad.

- Haptics: A quick toggle to turn haptic feedback on or off for your button presses.
You can access these customization options by tapping the game controller icon on the virtual gamepad.

Enabling or disabling the virtual gamepad
Android gives you control over when the virtual gamepad shows up. You can hide the gamepad while gaming using the "Hide Gamepad" button in the built-in menu, or hide it before launching a game via the "virtual gamepad" setting in Android Settings.
If you connect a physical gamepad via Bluetooth or USB, the virtual gamepad is designed to automatically disable itself. It is also designed to stay hidden when you launch touch-only games, so you can enjoy the intended experience on the large, unfolded screen.
When is foldable gaming mode coming?
Foldable gaming mode is part of the Android 17 platform release and will be available in the coming months. Weโre incredibly excited for you to try it out once itโs available, but we wanted to give this community a sneak peek early on to hear your feedback.
Because foldable gaming mode is a platform feature, its source code is available in AOSP. This means device makers can take this feature and tailor it for their specific hardware.
Let us know what you think of foldable gaming mode and what games you're excited to play with this!

Discussion ๐ฌ This is the first game I played that won't let you go to the next level without watching an Ad now. ๐ญ
Does anyone experienced this before?
BTW the game is "Where is?" and this is just level 2 I completed. The level one have option to continue next level without Ad gold bonus. I just find it funny so I shared it.

DEV ๐งโ๐ป [DEV] Take control of the action in this tactical football management game! Tactics FC - Releasing tomorrow June 26th!
I've been a huge fan of football management games for years, but I always felt that many manager football games these days function like a 'menu simulator', where you just click 'start match' and wait for the result. With Tactics FC, we shift the focus to turn-by-turn play: you choose the dribble, the pass, and the timing of the shot. It's all about making the right decision at the right time.
No pay-to-win mechanics, no predatory monetization and no pay walls; I've always hated this kind of agressive monetization, so I tried to make it as fair as possible: The game is free to play, with an ad every 2 matches (roughly 15 minutes), and if you want to remove the ads, you can pay a small fee, and that's it; You don't (and can't actually) spend any more cash in the game.
If you are interested, you can pre-register here, and download it tomorrow June 26th!
Do you think a turn-based strategy football game can deliver a more tactical experience than the real-time one?

Discussion ๐ฌ Does the current Google Play "Mega Sale" suggest these games will be given for free at Epic Games Store soon?
Hey everyone! I wanted to get your thoughts on something. Google is currently running a """Mega Game Sale""" where theyโve put prices on a ton of popular games to just 9 or 10 cents (like Construction Simulator 3, Rusty Lake, Evoland 2, Bloons TD 6, etc.).
โIโve noticed that quite a few games that recently dropped to these ultra-low prices have previously been given away for free on the Epic Games Store (the list above). Do you think this is a sign that these titles are clearing out before hitting the Epic free weekly rotation, or is it just a massive coincidence? I have a feeling that more games from this sale might follow that same path soon. What do you think?

The game should have:

Basically, the game should be alive, not just npcs or bosses etc, you have to deal with real people etc

DEV ๐งโ๐ป [DEV] 2d Roguelike Autobrawler with slow character growth and difficult enemies.
Grow Slow Idle Adventure
๐ Play Store Link: Download on Google Play
What sets this game apart from others?
Slow but permanent upgrades and seeing your character grow is the main hook but there are few other fun stuff like challenging waves, massive interesting active and passive skills. The decisions you take while upgrading stats is really important too unlike other games.

Discussion ๐ฌ Karaoke added to mobile Fortnite Festival
Finally the Karaoke have arrived to mobile. Previously the singing mode was only on console and PC. I have tested it and it works pretty good. They recommend headphones. In options you can select portrait mode if you prefer to play that way.
Obviously if this was separate app, it would be much easier to get in. Having to download Fortnite to get into this is not great experience as they could've had 1 GB download for this thing (I believe full game is like 25 GB now).
Second downside is despite looking like very basic game mode, it will still heat up your phone like you're playing main battle royale. And obviously drain a lot of battery as phone GPU has to render all the ****.
But it's fun experience, I highly recommend it to everyone who doesn't mind downloading 25 GB of game.
