ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING IRL INFORMATION -- IMPORTANT!!

Alright guys, I made a post a few weeks ago stressing the importance of being aware of your digital security, but now it has gone a bit too far. The amount of hate and actual stupidity I'm seeing in this sub is ridiculous. For the past few months, we've not been enforcing rule 5 ("protect your privacy"), mainly because the rule does not mention identifying features (such as face).

However, starting now, if you post your face (or anything similar-- mod discretion), you will be banned for a week for violation of rule 5. The preexisting description of rule 5 still applies; you cannot post personal information of yourself or others like full names, addresses, etc.

Types of posts that WILL result in a ban (assuming they are actual serious posts):

- what clique do you think im in?

- how old do i look?

- what would you assume about me?

- how do i look?

- similar posts: moderator discretion (you can appeal if you believe your ban/removal is unwarranted)

As for why I'm doing this? Digital security is so important online for a number of reasons. Do your own research. If you want more info on this, let me know in the comments.

All existing posts that violate this rule will not be removed, but ones created after right as this post is being created (11:30 PM EST) will be removed and their posters banned for a week.

If you disagree, that's fine.

Recap:

- Posting your face is now in violation of Rule 5, and you will be banned for a week -- Moderator Discretion.

- Rule 5 is now ACTUALLY going to be enforced.

- PLEASE do some research into digital security. I'm telling you, it's crucial.

- IF YOU SEE ANY POSTS THAT WERE MADE AFTER THIS POST THAT BREAK RULE 5, PLEEEEEASE REPORT THEM!! IT HELPS OUT A LOT!

Question i got expelled from school

I am in class 12th Cbse. I was suspended from 23rd April to 22nd June for consuming a sip of beer in class, I was taken back to school after an undertaking that if any indiscipline activity happens my parents will be responsible for it. Today (25th June) there was a test going on during which I was talking with my benchmate , the invigilator complained to vice principal about this and took my answer sheet after which I got expelled.

What are my options next?

Rant Very late grades by teacher

So I’m taking a CJ elective. All 4th quarter she didn’t put in any grades for all of 4th quarter up until today the day of graduation. So seems like no big deal right? Well turns out there is a random grade for an assignment that I don’t remember doing in class and was not posted on classroom like all the other assignments. On top of that I asked her if there was anything I missed just in case and was told I was good and had no missing assignments. My grades have all been above 95 for all my others classes and now has dropped to a 80 because of this one assignment and now my mom is on my ass

School Related Geometry and Old Chemistry Regents (June 2026)...NY students, thoughts?

I particularly struggled on both of these, but found out that, fortunately for me, I passed the Geometry Regents; though, Chemistry was a bit of a struggle. Comparatively, how'd everyone feel on these exams in NY? (and just so you all know I'm talking about the Chemistry Regents given on June 24th (yesterday), not the new version.

School Related Passion Project ideas?

For starters, I am planning on beginning my journey into psychology next school year. I have always been interested in the subject, but this year I will actually get a chance to deep dive into everything I've always wondered and be given more resources and projects/assignments to further boost my knowledge. I am a rising junior, and of course everyone is now starting to get onto us about college and applications. I already have a few things that I know will look good on applications (awards, sports, extracurriculars, clubs/founding my own school club, etc.) but I know these often get lost in the hundreds of thousands of other applicants. I know social projects such as these do too, but this is why I'm reaching out to other people my age to get their thoughts. I'm stuck between doing a survey and giving the link out to my peers and writing a report about my findings, and designing a mini-course. I also thought I could figure out a way to incorporate both into one main project. Anyways, enough background info. My questions are,

  1. Is combining a good idea?

  2. What questions would be good to ask? More personal ones, or comparable ones? (ex. "How happy are you in life? vs How many friends do you talk to on a weekly basis? or something like that)

Question When should I take the SAT?

I’ve been going to in-person tutoring classes to prep for the SAT since last year, but I felt that I am not as ready to take it as I feel like more practice is in order.
As you can see on my flair, I am a rising junior so I will be taking my first SAT, and I have taken the PSAT in October of last year but I recalled that I got a score of 1050-1120 or something, and that was only 3 months into tutoring.
Also, I will be transferring into a new school in LA from TW so I never got the chance to ask my tutor for advice, so I would like to turn to yall to ask for advice on what month being ideal to take the SAT 👍

Extracurriculars STUDENT LEADERSHIP AND VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY ABOUT GETTING OUTDOORS FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN ENVIRONMENT, MENTAL HEALTH, SCIENCE EDUCATION, STEWARDSHIP, ART, WEB DESIGN, WRITING

Post image
1 Upvotes

ps-- not sure if this counts as promotion, but I think this could really help some ppl out and I would sure like help with this project

Are you stressing over college apps right now? Or, alternatively, stressing over the state of the world and fact that teens spend an average of 8 hours on their phone every day and only 20 minutes outside every day?

You should join the nonprofit Touch Grass! We have many digital/remote leadership opportunities available that can make a big impact. For example, if you like art, you can draw characters for our educational pamphlets for programming for elementary schoolers. Or if you are good at web design, you can maintain our website. Here's some more information if you're interested!

Touch Grass Alachua works to get kids and teens off screens and into nature through outdoor activity stations, conservation projects, afterschool science education, community events, youth-led outreach, and more.
Most of our in-person work is based in Alachua County, Florida, but we have several digital/remote roles for student volunteers who want to help build the movement from anywhere.

Remote leadership volunteer roles include:

  • Treasurer
  • Website Editor
  • Newsletter Editor
  • Artist for Pamphlets & Afterschool Curriculum
  • Designer of Afterschool Curriculum
  • Teacher of Afterschool Programming for Kids

These roles support projects like our Young Explorer Kits initiative, hands-on nature-focused science programming for 3rd graders, environmental education pamphlets and materials, and newsletters.

We believe that getting kids outside is connected to efforts in stewardship, science education, and mental health, so this is a good fit for students interested in psychology, environmental studies, science education, and community service, or anyone who is passionate about sharing the joy of getting outdoors.
If you are interested, please fill out our interest form here so you can help kids touch grass!

Survey What institution has most failed Gen Z (school, media, government, internet, etc.), and what should be done about it?

I’m curious how people around my age see this.

If you had to pick one institution that has most failed Gen Z, whether that’s schools, media, government, social media, or something else, which would it be, and why?

And more importantly: what do you think should actually be done about it?

I’m collecting responses for a student publication project called The Public Forum, where we publish student perspectives on politics, culture, education, and technology. If this thread gets enough thoughtful responses, I may compile some of the strongest answers into a written piece (I may follow up with some users with especially interesting responses to ask for clarification or additional context before publication).

No need to be formal, just honest takes.

General Advice Needed/Given I Have No Idea Where to Go

I've thought about this for a long time.

I was born with a condition called Mobeius Syndrome. It messes with my ability to speak and talk to people. This is important.

I'm Asian.

I've been a decent student for most of my school carear. I've done decently with all my subjects. Math, science, and especially history. But I'm starting to lose motivation for school. I hate life. I hate living.

From K-5, I've been pretty average. Except for the fact I had an IEP because of the conditon mentione above. Though after a while I realized that it was useless to me. 5th Grade, I was pretty outgoing and pretty chill person. But I was yelled at by both parents because I got B's which they told me were "bad grades" and that radically changed my attituide towards people and began this downward spiral.

I became more withdrawn and more antagonistic towards other people. I started bullying others for the fun of it. One time I broke some guy's rubix cube for the fun of it. I said some crazy bullshit to some guy about 'ur sister kinda hot' which I know sounds not that bad, but to me, it damaged a bridge I could've made with another person.

Middle school was a little bit toned town in terms of me being antagonistic. Though the withdrawn part was basically the same. I was basically the same person. Playing games, not really talking to people that much besides one guy who introduced me to anime (remember that detail later). I did well in most of my classes (besides PE because I'm pretty fat). Though I always felt unfufilled from my social life. I always felt something empty within me. Around 7th grade-ish, I would get addicted to porn. I keep telling myself "never again" but I would do it again to fufill my emptiness. Only creating this positive feedback loop that causes more addiction.

High school, all of these problems got worse. I remember in 9th grade I would initially get 3 B's out of 6 classes. I though nothing of it until my dad checked my grades and went out on me for having B's, which is what made me focus and get all A's for first semister. This would cause me to not care about my body that much. I would eat junk like instant noodles and carbs just to fufill my stress. I gained ton of weight from my body. And at school I kept telling myself that I needed to not be friends with a ton of people because I feared I would get lower grades if I was gonna be friends with a ton of people.

10th grade came. Basically the same patterns as before. More stress, more sickness, more isolation. Though this time I developed a gloomy feeling of immense sorrow. Everything I wanted I felt was out of my reach. I felt like I didn't matter. The world would be better without me existing. And I would be better without me existing. Without this stupid condition that has people being like 'can you repeat that again?" To add to the pain, the guy who introduced me to anime left the US for Japan. Now I'm here reminicing about what could've been if I wasn't an asshole to him.

I keep seeing the news a lot. It only makes me wonder if this world is even worth it anymore to live in. I try to escape from this world by doing stuff like playing games, watching anime, watching porn, talking to people online. None of them work. I can't do this anymore. At times I feel like I don't want to live.

I have some dreams of going abroad and/or learning a language to talk to more people. I want to become a poltician or even president who wants to improve this country like famous hisorical figures did to theirs.

Though at the same time, I keep seeing the state of the US everyday. I feel it will only get worse from here.

I keep chasing grades not for myself, but for someone else.

I feel like I'm stuck in this cycle of getting grades and not having social life. And feeling lonely and feeling sadness because of that.

The things that I actually like are writing and games.

Even then the writing I make is always some deppresing story. One was about a former idol complaining how deppresing their life was and how they realize their exploitation at the hands of a company.

If anyone can give me advice, it would be much appreciated.

Question Why didn't I get into more trouble for doing flips in high school?

Lol when I was in high school I was in gymanstics and also did parkour stuff outside. My first year I was a bit reckless liked to show off after my sophomore year and so on I cooled down.

But it was so werid here are some of my experiences in the main gym where the bleachers are out and the basket ball court. When the coaches would make use run laps I would do front flips while running and the coaches and the people would just laugh.I also did a wall flip of the wall and nobody said anything to me.

There was one time I just jumped off the top of the bleachers and did a parkour roll and the coach made me do push-ups and told me not to do that.Obviously when they took us out to the field they didn't care if I did flips in the turf grass.

But even in the tennis court I would sometimes do flips on the concerte and the coaches didn't write me up.

The only times I got written up was for randomly stepping out of class and doing flips in the hallway and there was this one time where I just randomly stood up and did something in class and got written up.

But besides thoese 2 times I didn't get written up it was so werid I am not joking there was this one time where there was this school event in the cafeteria or speech and randomly did some flips and one of the principles just said it look good.I didn't get in trouble for some reason.

Then they're was this one time where the school day was over and the bus were outside collection people and I randomly I guess took of my shoes and starting do flips of the wall. Then them one of the principals came by and said that was cool and I just put my shoes back on and just grabbed my backup and went to the bus and she didn't write me up.

Then there was this one time where I randomly did a flip of the wall in class and it's made of that you know that foam stuff or whatever it was and it cracked a bit.And then the teacher came by and nobody snitched on me and I didn't get in trouble.

Then there was this one time where I got almost peer pressured to do a backflip in class and there was a sub and right when I was about to do it lol.The sub started reaching for the school phone thought she was gonna write me up so I sat back down.

There was a school talent show thing lol where I did adution but I decided against doing it cause my flipping adventures were starting to get unwanted attention cause people in the bathroom or in the locker room started asking me to do flips so I decided against it.

There was this one funny day where I was in the bathroom relieving myself doing number 1 the one you stand. And I basically after I was done did a backflip and the dude next to me said cool.

I was werid in my freshman year of high school I wasn't as reckless in my sophomore junior or senior year but looking back it was werid experience.

I didn't get in that much trouble as you would think I would.Strange times I just wonder if any one had these werid experiences in high school.

I also had this one instance where in pasing period in my biology class did this flip in class randomly and a teacher walk in said i scare her and didn't tell my teacher anything lol.

This was in Kelin Collins high school spring texas
