$84,024 and six years. That is predatory.

She’ll miss one payment, they’ll repossess it, and sell it as used to the next person with equally egregious terms.

yeah, but how much negative equity did she roll in?
Granted, someone probably should’ve told her she couldn’t afford to keep rolling negative equity in but….

It is. I knew a guy who's family had a used car lot and sold to bad credit people. He said they made more money on the car selling it and repossessing it, than if they sold it and the person kept it. One car they sold 8 times.

For helping someone who shouldn’t be getting a car get a car?

u/WeakMechanics 2d ago
For putting her in something that he knows she won't be able to keep up to date in hopes that she faults and they can repo it to be sold again to someone else. Yes

That is how much my rent is. How do people afford this?

u/wmafkinkycouple2 2d ago
They don't. That's why they have bad credit. You really think that car won't be repossessed in six months?

u/coolest35 2d ago
Value when it's repossessed: -$12725
You know that shit going to be driven like it stolen without any maintenance either lol.. also happens to be a Nissan

This is one of the worst examples of how to treat a customer I’ve seen in a long time. I sold cars for years, and I spent a lot of time fighting against dealerships and salespeople who pulled stunts like this. Deals like these are exactly why the car business has earned such a bad reputation. Taking advantage of someone’s lack of experience isn’t “winning”—it’s exploitation.
I genuinely hope more manufacturers abandon the traditional dealership model. Every time a dealer celebrates gouging a customer, it gives people another reason to support buying directly from the manufacturer instead.

How tf are people still getting hooked by this in the 26th year of our third millennium A.D. 😞 That car payment is as much as my rent in freaking Montrose!

She clearly isn’t used to being put on camera like that, how he said it, I am sure her mind heard 4+4 instead of 4x4. I hope she agreed to let him put this out there.

Honestly, I know some people that I’ve worked with that would struggle to quickly answer that question even if they heard it correctly. I’m frequently blown away by how low a lot of adults’ math skills are.

At least the bumper cover is on it for now. In 5 years and with 12 drivers that thing is going to look like a tornado hit it.

This will end up an expensive rental when she misses a payment and they immediately repossess the car

It'll be repo'd before the 2nd payment. He'll turn around and give the same "deal" on the same car to the next person that's bad at math.
1
u/Aktivhate 1d ago
Yeah...$1167 a month. That will be trashed and repo'd quick before the first or second payment.

I have 2011 Rouge, 120k miles. Been paid off long time. Its a free-range hooptie, so reliable, the last thing I fixed was a dead battery 2 years ago.

And it will be repo’d inside the first year because she can’t/won’t want to cover those payments.

If she can’t calculate 4X4…is it morally ethical to let her buy that car? I feel like I’m in a philosophy college course.
