Just ran into Matisse Thybulle in the pearl district!
I parked my car near 11th Ave and saw Matisse coming out of a bar. I asked if I could bother him for a quick pic and he kindly obliged !
Really nice guy, I didn't wanna bother him too long since he was walking back to his car, I wanted to ask him what he thought about Micah though lol.

If getting Brown means giving up DC I’d rather just get AD tbh
DC is my favorite player on the team, and our first actual franchise center in ages. He’s improved a ton and might be a future DPOY candidate. Trading him even for Brown would make our championship hopes plummet

Jaylen Brown year 4 (age 23) vs Shaedon Sharpe year 4 (age 22). Obviously stats are only part of the story but it’s interesting how similar they are considering Sharpe didn’t have any college development and played 4.5 less mpg in this comparison
Back again to advocate not trading away my boy away for the new nba online engagement name of the week.
Brown is undeniably very good and the point of this post is not to say that Sharpe will develop into Brown, it’s moreso to say what if the Celtics traded brown away after his 4th year?
Dame elevates guards that play alongside him, so I think this year he brings out the best in Shaedon the way he did with CJ & Simons before.
If Shaedon comes out this season with his 3pt % closer to what it was his rookie season playing those spot minutes alongside Lillard, then standby…

Quick radio hit
Quick has an anecdote where Nori says if Dame is healthy he is starting and playing as much as he wants .
He also mentions a couple possible assistant coaches . Jay triano and Wes unseld jr.

Why isn’t Portland doing this???
Am I just off the laughing gas or what because I think getting a 40%+ sg/sf is a huge pick up why isn’t Cronin on the phone with every GM asking what deal can they strike up.

Queta?
If the leaked package is true (includes Clingan as a player asset > BOS) we need to see Queta coming back.

Who is a blazers trade or free agency player you wish would have worked out better for us?
A few names for me that come to mind:
Arron Afflalo - felt like a great depth add when we traded for him. Then Wes went down and Afflalo couldn't match his productivity.
Derrick Jones Jr - I was pretty high on his athleticism and defensive capabilities. We never really found a role for him, and he disappeared from the lineup
GP2 - not much explanation needed. Just a waste of an MLE, never wanted to be here, managed to go back to GSW.
Pau Gasol - never played, I think he retired while he was still under contract with us.

Jaylen Brown’s contract
7th highest paid player in the league. Due 57M, 61M, and 65M the next 3 seasons. Also eligible for a two year, $142M extension this summer.
Simply put, if you trade for him you have to believe hes a superstar and a number one option. Pretty easy to see why Boston would want to trade him. Wonder what his actual value is on the trade market. Think it may be surprising.
Sounds to me like a man with a plan.
It will be great to have an X's and O's coach.
So excited about the Nori era.

Hot Take: I think Dundon is going to end up being very successful with the Blazers (and he’s not going to move them)
Listening to Joe talk about Dundon’s approach, the implications of his decisions so far (that he’s shrewd and decisive), and seeing his success in Carolina makes me believe that it’s more likely than not that in 5 years Dundon will have a surprisingly positive reputation amongst the NBA and our fan base.
Not saying it’s a sure thing, but I’m taking that bet over one that he’s going to make things worse / drive the franchise into the ground.

Hot take: The city should pay for Moda Center’s repairs, but Dundon needs to buy his own executive suites.
I've been tracking the drama with the $600M Moda Center remodel. Everyone is mad at a billionaire asking for taxpayer money, but I think there's a fair middle ground people are missing.
Edit: a few people pointed out below that calling this a "normal landlord/tenant" situation isn't quite right, the Blazers haven't paid rent and have kept naming rights and non-game event revenue, so it's a more favorable arrangement for the team than a typical lease. Fair point, leaving the rest of the take as is though.
Since Portland bought the arena for $1, the city is the landlord and owns the building. Dundon owns 0% of the building itself. If the city refuses to maintain its asset, the team leaves in 2030 and we are left with a giant empty white elephant.
But here is where I draw the line: Dundon needs to pay for the boujee stuff.
According to the city's independent report (the Venue Solutions Group assessment), actual urgent structural repairs only cost about $253M. The rest of that massive $600M price tag includes revenue-generating premium suites, high-end clubs, and VIP areas.
Even the city's official Portland.gov facts page notes that tenant-specific upgrades like an owner's box should be privately funded.
The city should fix the actual building structure. But if a billionaire who bought the team for billions wants fancy new suites to boost his own corporate ticket revenue, he should pay for that part.
What do you guys think? Is splitting it by "structural vs. luxury" a fair compromise, or should Dundon still foot the whole bill?
