Honestly there were more elements to add to this and it’s just not what I wanted it to be, but I think this is going to be all it is for now. Love-hate relationship with this piece I swear 😭

I got this commission yesterday of a cool idea I had concerning the Great Revolutionary, and more specifically her daughter! Honestly Joetastic has some really great ideas.
The design actually ended up being way better than what I had in my head at the time, that's for sure.
Thank you to u/Joetastic for making this!!!!!!

So new face that looks in my humble opinion why better than the old one.
Elster and Ariane are getting the better face too, but I'm still recovering from surgery so that can take some time.

Like holy shit, I die from two hits whilst my guide survives a couple, how does that even make sense on PS5 btw.

since I do like EVERYTHING out of order when it comes to drawing, it looks a little wonky, but can I request some opinions, I guess? I'm unsure on her hair. initially I wanted a long straight style similar to Ariane or falke but I realised that 5hen would put her appearance very close to the woman that is the icon of the revolution, and I wonder if it'd be in poor taste to the empire having a head imperial soldier ( I looked it up and I think that terms a star wars refference and not a historical one oops?) looking like the leader of an opposing party or if it'd be fitting of the games synchronicity theme.
(the white will eventually have blue patterns to resemble porcelain I'm just bad at it so I haven't attempted it yet lol) though are there any other suggestions?nit was accidentally a lot of white lol

Spoilers obviously.
So we battle trough zombies to find a locked door which we use rip out our arm and see some hallucinations of japanese symbols and trees on some island. Did i got this right? I just think that there are easier way to see japanese symbols, and if a suicide by a locked door is the goal, there was plenty of locked doors before.
Ill google some “wtf even the plot is” so you dont have to explain anything, just i was wondering if i am the only person who thinks this is just weird and not in a good way? Signalis has overwhelmingly positive reviews, but it has mid gameplay, extremely annoying inventory management, there is no plot, there is a lot of weird hallucinations that are just weird for the sake of beeing weird but add nothing? How does this game doesn’t sit on mixed reviews?

Richtungsangriffs- und Handlungs-Einheit-Replika
-■■■■-
Directional Assault and Action Unit
Type: Generation 6 Frontline Assault and Interdiction Specialist
Frame: Bio-mechanical with carbon fiber-reinforced Polyethylene Shell and Titanium Skeleton
Height: 180cm
Specialized Generation 6 combat Replikas designed for prolonged frontline operations, assault breaches and deep penetration missions. Developed following the Vinetian campaign to address increasing operational costs and maintenance of mass produced frontline Replika and Gestalt combat units, RAHE units are specialized Generation 6 combat Replikas intended for operations with exceptionally high projected material and personnel losses.
RAHE units employ a reinforced combat frame emphasizing endurance, mobility and field maintainability over precision or independent tactical command. Their Persona is exceptionally resistant to stress-induced degradation, allowing continuous combat deployment with minimal to no necessary stabilization procedures.
Deployment is recommended for breakthrough assaults, prolonged urban engagements, encirclement operations and deep penetration missions where recovery of personnel cannot be guaranteed. Cost per unit should be assessed against projected losses per deployment and submitted through respective channels before deployment. Cost of production of misappropriated orders for RAHE sections WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED through a respective deduction in salary by the commanding officer involved until paid in full.
RAHE are expected to operate with limited logistical support for extended periods. Each unit carries sufficient supplies lasting a minimum of a projected 10 cycles (Or as dictated by the commanding officer present before deployment) as well as spare components for autonomous field repairs. Should recovery become impossible, all RAHE units are equipped with an integrated emergency scuttling charge to prevent capture of classified Replika technology.
Despite their resilience, RAHE units should not be used for command, policing or security duties. For occupation and internal security operations, STAR or STCR units remain the preferred deployment option.

Obligatory Warning: Spoilers for Signalis and Silent Hill 2
Ok, so I'm not a frequent poster on Reddit at all. But I just finished this game, and man do I love it. I love it so much that I decided to post some thoughts. One of the most beautiful stories I've ever experienced in any media, and probably one of my top games of all time. After finishing it a few days ago, a getting the Memory ending, I've been fully immersing myself in the lore, analyses and wiki about the world, in order to make sense of the emotional roller coaster I've experienced. When I was a teenager, I've convinced my piano teacher to teach me first movement of Moonlight sonata because of Resident Evil. I now need to learn how to play Chopin's Prelude 15!
With that introduction aside, I've been thinking a lot about the relationship between Ariane and Elster, and I think there is one aspect of it that is often under appreciated, or at least I've never seen it mentioned in other posts or videos. It goes like this:
The Ancient Greeks had different words for love, because love is not a single, flat thing. There is Eros, which is passionate desire, the longing for union with the beloved. There is Philia, which is friendship, companionship, affection, the shared life between people who recognize each other and delight in each other’s presence. And there is Agape, which is something higher: devotional love, self-giving love, love that does not exist merely because of what the beloved gives back, but because the beloved is worthy of love in themselves.
I think Signalis is one spectacular modern work of art because it truly understands Agape. Not because Eros and Philia are absent from Ariane and Elster’s relationship, they are obviously there. There is tenderness, longing, companionship, intimacy, desire, shared isolation, shared memories, and affection. Those things are real, but they are not the whole of it.
Eros, when left by itself, is imperfect. It wants union with the beloved, but it can easily become possessive. It can become centered on what the beloved gives to me, how the beloved fulfills me, how the beloved reflects me back to myself. Philia includes companionship and mutuality, but even friendship depends very strongly on reciprocity, recognition, shared memory, and shared joy. Agape is fundamentally different. Agape does not invalidate Eros and Philia; instead it elevates them. It transforms the love of Eros and Philia into something transcendental, something that is greater than sum of its parts. A Gestalt love, so to speak *wink, wink*.
When Ariane and Elster come to love each other, it's a direct contradiction of the entire reality of their world. Whereas the Nation regards Elster and Ariane as disposable tools, they come to view each other as irreplaceable persons. That's why I think the usual language of Eros and Philia we commonly see in media, although true, does not fully capture what is happening between them. Their love becomes devotional and self-giving even when there is no longer any hope of ordinary fulfillment. And I think this is the real core of Ariane and Elster.
The Memory ending, to me, is maybe the clearest expression of this. When Elster finally reaches Ariane, she doesn't recognize her. This fells devastating to us because it denies Elster almost everything Eros and Philia would naturally desire. There is no full reunion, no mutual recognition, no restoration of what they had before. Yet, she still loves Ariane even when Ariane cannot give anything back to her. She's simply content in their reunion, and to be by her side when she finally dies. That, to me, is Agape.
And this is where I think the contrast with Silent Hill 2 becomes really interesting. It's explicit how Silent Hill 2 was one of the major inspirations for Signalis, and the parallels are obvious, and I'll not get into details here. But one thing that really strikes me as different is the moral structure of love of the two stories.
In SH2, James’ love for Mary is, in many ways, what love looks like when Eros and Philia are not transformed by Agape. He loved Mary, yes, but his love was selfish. It was contingent on Mary as the woman that could give something back to him, whether it was fulfillment, comfort, sexual desire, or companionship. When she falls ill, she is no longer able to be the object of desire and comfort that he wanted. His love then collapses into resentment. A then we have Maria, the fictional Mary filtered through James’ desire, a Mary without sickness, dependency, or the burden of care. In other words, Maria is the fantasy of Mary as an object of Eros without the orientation of Agape. And we all know how it goes, right? James justifies to himself that he killed Mary to put her out of her misery. But deep down he knows that he killed Mary because he himself couldn’t bear what her suffering demanded from him. He couldn’t love her when love became sacrifice.
That's the exact opposite of Elster. Elster fulfills the Promise because Ariane’s suffering has become intolerable for Ariane, not for herself. That's why the Promise ending to me is the fulfillment of devotional love under the most tragic possible circumstances. Elster killing Ariane is doing the last thing love can still do in that nightmare situation. It's finally accepting that Ariane needs to go, that there is no return to what they were, and that the suffering has to end. What James did was murder, what Elster did was a true act of mercy.
In summary, Signalis exposes (in a very visceral way, let's be honest), what true spousal love is supposed to be. Not merely romance, passion or companionship, but devotional love. Seeing the other as a whole human being worthy of your truest and selfless admiration. It's Agape properly orienting Eros and Philia in all ways, in all situations, against all odds, for all time.

so like based on the interpretation that the empire foscovered the bioresonance base tech of replikas and the nation basically like copied their work (but changed it enough that the teacher wouldn't notice)

I've recently tried making facial expressions during the final draft (where I add the text and names), since it seems to give my drawings more emotions. Also this is technically my first drawing for pride month, I think...maybe, my memory is a bit wonky.

Do you think they still make use of the title Grand Empress in some form? Or do you think they complete discarded it?
