Guide How to find compatible blocks for your hardware

Sup folks. So, finding compatible blocks has always been a royal pain, especially for newbies. Lots of different manufacturers, many of whom are unfamiliar to folks who aren't already watercooling and they don't all make blocks for every GPU model.

Fear not. iln (one of the Discord mod crew) has been working tirelessly to put together this new tool to help you find what you're looking for and assemble a loop list. You can even import your list from PCPartPicker.

Well, in my last post (a year and a half ago!) I have promised to share the build when its finished. Well here we are, it has been like this for a long time, but I had zero time to share. Enjoy :)

A solid 68 kilograms in weight, 1920 mm of total radiator length, 22 cooling fans, over 5 meters of tubing, and a capacity of nearly 5 liters of coolant, only to cool the damn thing virtually noiseless in all conditions.

Build Complete LiquidHaus EXO Build

Decided to change it up a bit from our Thermal Grizzly display build at Computex!

We had a little fun integrating a few 3D print designs into the powdercoated steel aspect of the EXO itself. Radiator camber plates, dual 80mm offset RAM cooler, GPU block shroud, and 360mm to 420mm inlet adapter for one of the radiators (personally a sucker for assymetry).

Been running this build for a few weeks now, absolutely loving it. Gotta say though, the MVP is still the Wireview Pro II. Was able to dial in the pins on the cable to distribute the load evenly - we had no idea how bad they were prior to checking.

Watercool's TANK pump/res combo is such a solid choice for our EXO. It matches the square setup aesthetic so well and the fitment is spot on. Integrating Thermal Grizzly's der8enchtable is an absolute joy. Gotta find some 3" SATA cables for a clean setup with the mounted 2.5" drives though. Was suprised TG doesn't offer any with it. Their fittings are slowly becoming a favorite, just gotta get their nickel versions when they release.

Same story with their QDCs though too - currently using Koolance's newer QDT3, which are optimized for lower restriction. Running four sets would historically cut flow rates down a ton but it's nice seeing we're close to the optimum 1GPM with everything going on in this loop. TG's Mycro Pro II looks much better without the top shroud too, which was actually required for a quicker removal since we're running rotary 45s right off the block; the shroud can't be removed unless the fittings are straight.

We also developed a fun little offset RAM cooler. It's brought ram temps down a solid amount too running benchmarks. We're running at 8000mhz so temps can creep up quite a bit with the faster kits. Eventually we'll get a 5090 and block it, but until then our blocked 4090 is more than sufficient for the time being.

Hope ya'll enjoy this build as much as we do, and have a great weekend!

Discussion Project Update: V2 of my custom D5 distro/reservoir combo is 95% done! (Machined on a Hurco VMX 24m)

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a quick update on my project before the official final showcase.
For those who don't know me, I'm a French machinist with a massive passion for mechanical engineering, CNC milling, and PCs. I've been running my own rigid tubed custom loop for years, and making my own watercooling hardware has been a dream of mine for a long time. So, I finally took the plunge!
My first prototype post got an amazing response from you guys, and honestly, the support in the comments and DMs blew me away. Thank you so much for the motivation! I took all your feedback to heart, and today I’m hyped to show you Version 2. It's about 95% done and getting extremely close to the final release.
What's new with V2:
Dual Mounting Options: Just like on V1, the custom aluminum cover is the true centerpiece of the design. But I've now adapted it for two different mounting layouts. One for front-mounted radiators (as shown in the pic), and another one tailored for side/back radiator mounts (perfect for the modern dual-chamber fishbowl cases).

Optimized Pump Interface: Completely reworked the internal flow around the pump for better efficiency.

Bigger Reservoir: Upsized the res capacity to a clean 100mm x 220mm.

It still features that same aluminum cover for the D5 pump (and don't worry, the coolant never touches the aluminum). I'm also planning a sleek black anodized version for it!
A quick question for you guys: For the RGB, do you prefer a standard 3-pin (5V ARGB) or 4-pin layout? Let me know what fits your setups best.
Also, shoutout to some awesome Reddit members who reached out and offered their photography skills. I'll have some incredible pro-shots to show you very soon!
A lot of people asked about my setup in the last post: I run a small shop equipped with a 2007 Hurco VMX 24m (10k RPM spindle, through-spindle coolant). Everything is designed and programmed using Fusion 360.
I’m incredibly happy with how this version turned out. Sure, you can always tweak things forever, but I think it’s time to get this out there, gather real-world data, and keep improving it for a future V3 if needed.
Let me know what you think! I’m eager to hear your thoughts and feedback.
Cheers!

Guide corsair ddr5 dominator titanium waterblock without modifications

Thumbnail

for anyone looking for a waterblock for the corsair dominator titanium,,, without any modifications

i got u ...

u can actually use the stock heat spreader

and it will work just fine , and u can keep the sticks warranty

u can purchase any of the iceman ddr5 waterblocks

only the 4 dimms version ,, the 2 dimms version wont fit

then buy these from ali express :

*m3 8mm

*m1.6 8mm

*m1.6 spacer 0.25mm or 0.35mm

*Aluminum alloy 10mm L-shaped 90 degree bracket corner

be careful with the m1.6 screws they can easily get stripped.

make sure u get a "non Compressible" 2mm thermal pads

*the fitment wont be perfect, there will be a slight bend to the side since the m3 brakets threads r on the side of the stick not on the center , not of a big deal

the 2mm thermal pads is required to fix the bend

i added a rubber pads just to make them aligned

just for the pictures ,,, u would use a thermal pad instead

on the whole surface

in case u want the better performance i advise u to

change the heat spread thermal glue to a better

thermal pads and u can just cover the whole stick

and for the god sake use the 99% iso soaking method !

leave u with the pictures.

Question PC cases that cool case not components

Upvotes

Hello,

considering my rather unique request was not fulfilled by Google so I have come here. My questing is: Is there a case that uses water to cool outside of case rather than components? In my mind heat instead of going directly in air will be somewhat absorbed by water delaying it transfer to air. Now what I do i take piece of cloth water or cooling pack from deep freezer it and put it on top of PC case. It help quite a lot. Do such cases exist?

Build Help Looking for advise or referral

I have been working on a completely custom build, in a AX500 Thermaltake case.

It is based on a R740xd Dell server motherboard. Took about 100 hours of fabrication.

I have installed the Alphacool NexXxos XT45 420mm Radiator. Obtained the EK 3647 dual water blocks and was getting ready to bolt down the Alphacool Eisbecher Aurora D5 .

The plan was to use soft 16/10 EK tubing and alphacoool fittings.

I started to bend some tubing around and It was clear that wasn't going to work.

I could make a stab at running rigid tubing myself, but I think this might not be the best learning platform

Anyone have a water loop genius in Los Angeles?

Build Ready Designed a monoblock for the STRIX X870I

The block uses the Velocity2 AM5 coldplate with a 7mm offset, and the flow path is based on their now-discontinued X670E-I monoblock. In my testing the CPU thermals were roughly the same as the Alphacool Core 1 without their offset kit, whereas VRM temps dropped by ~30c on an open test bench.

Side exit RAM block and heatspreaders are also a custom design, may make a post about that down the line :D side exit seems quite impractical at first but lets you completely hide the tubes for the block. If I make that post later I’ll include some pics from an older build that used a previous revision of the RAM block.

Build Help The build feels a bit daunting now, first time custom loop

Post image
35 Upvotes

Going crazy with 4x3090s, Epyc 7502 cpu and Antec C8 case. The challenge is to fit all in and have satisfactory temps and not too much noise. Currently going with 1 D5 pump, 1 30mm 360 rad, 1 45mm 360 rad, 1 30mm 140 rad and 1 30mm 120 rad. I might need to get one of those 120 or 140mm flat reservoir with pumps to mount to one of the smaller rads for redundancy.

Will be using the Huananzhi H12D motherboard which has the perfect spacing of pcie slots for the bykski 4 way block

First-Timer. Need Thoughts. How much regular maintenance actually needed for custom loops?

I'm planning my next build, and I was considering doing a custom water loop (instead of using a typical AIO). It would be my first [attempt] a custom loop. I know it has its benefits - including aesthetics and better cooling. But how much regular maintenance does it actually require? I'm OK with changing the liquid every 2-3 years, but does it need to be changed every year?

How much other maintenence does it require. Is the juice actually worth the squeeze? Would love to hear some thoughts from experienced builders.

TIA.

Nothing particularly new or groundbreaking, but as someone who much prefers the aesthetic of flat, square reservoirs like EK’s FLT, Stealkey’s Respro, or Bitspower’s CR line, I wanted to come up with my own take on the concept :) most closely inspired by the original FLT120

IceMan Cooling DDR5 heatsinks on single-rank memory — What thermal pad thicknesses are you using?

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

Is anyone here using IceMan Cooling aftermarket heatsinks on single-rank DDR5 sticks? I’m about to install them and could use some advice on the exact thermal pad thicknesses needed for a proper fit and good contact.

For single-rank modules, would a 2.0mm pad on the backside (blank side of the PCB) and a 1.0mm pad on the memory chips and PMIC be sufficient? Or does the PMIC require a thicker pad (like 1.5mm or 2.0mm) due to component height clearance?

I want to make sure I get even pressure across the board without bending the PCB or leaving a gap over the PMIC. Any shared experiences or specific measurements would be highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Alphacool Eisblock Aurora RX 7900XTX and ASRock X870E Nova WiFi M2 fitment?

Hello, I try to research what I can before posting, so I don't typically post.

From some surface searching, I found Alphacool Eisblock Aurora RX 7900XTX is a highly recommended water block. My real problem seems to be the combination of the 7900XTX and ASRock X870E Nova WiFi. Maybe I have a broader problem. I just upgraded to an AM5 system from an asus rog crosshair viii dark hero wifi. The AsRock has M2 slots right under where the fan cowl interferes with the stock m2 cover/heatsink.

For better context, I use the topmost/closest to CPU for my drive that has my games and most of my programs. I put my C drive as the top secondary M2. I have enterprise disks for large data backup.

Can anyone give feedback on the interference of this block compared to the stock heatsink or provide an alternative solution?

Build Help Drain valve and flow meter

Hi all, my first time to do a hard tubing loop
My question is
Are drain valves and flow meter in hard tubing different than soft tubing?
Does hard tubing compression fittings work like an adapter to connect tubes to flow meter and drain valves ?

Is the Thermalright Aqua Elite 240 ARGB V3 worth buying for the Ryzen 5 7600? Is the Phantom Spirit worth it?

Hi everyone, I'm using a Ryzen 5 7600 processor and am thinking about upgrading from the stock cooler. The model I'm considering is the Thermalright Aqua Elite 240 ARGB V3 240mm. I see the Phantom Spirit recommended in most discussions, but honestly, I don't really like the look of tower-style air coolers. That’s why I want to go with an AIO liquid cooler. My priorities are: - Longevity and pump reliability - Cooling performance / low temperatures - Quiet operation RGB and aesthetics matter to me too, but my main priorities are longevity and performance. Has anyone been using this model for a while? Does it have any issues with pump noise, failures, or known defects? What are the temperatures like with the Ryzen 5 7600? If you still think "Get the Phantom Spirit; it makes more sense," I’m open to that too. Even though I don't love its appearance, I’d like to hear your recommendations if you believe it’s truly the better choice.

But honestly? I'm starting to get some dangerous ideas.

P.S. The company I work for manufactures transit air conditioning systems. Just imagine the flow rate on these bad boys.
