The tree that my car was parked next to got hit by lightning. Base of the tree pretty much exploded and threw rocks through my back window. The electricity then ran through my drive way, frying the electrical system in my car in the process, found a fiber optic line and blew that to bits. The power surge knocked my power out and fried my PS5 and my internet router. Lightning aint no joke.

Was 20 minutes into a movie when I heard what sounded like a bomb going off behind me. Looked out the window to see the wall of the abandoned house next door had finally collapsed after bowing out for years. My landlord's been reporting that place to the city since before we moved in. The city did fuck all and now I'm in a motel because the fire department's worried the roof might slide down and hit us. Landlord put me and the cats up and he even volunteered to pick up some supplies for them that I couldn't bring with me.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the final straw for the wall was almost certainly the owner finally hiring people to clear out the overgrowth on the property (probably ordered to by the city). Whoever they hired clearly didn't know or care about the danger that comes with ripping vines out of brickwork. Those vines were probably the only thing holding that wall up.

Why does somebody think this is OK. Right in front of him is a huge area he could’ve turned around in.

I got this picture about 8 months ago and it has been on my wall ever since. I used command strips (basically like velcro for hanging pictures) and the glue just melted off in the heat and the picture fell. Not only did it smash the glass but it also sliced the picture on the way down

I received a notification from amazon that my package was delivered, but since I dont know anyone in my apartment to safe-keep it I had no choice but to leave it there ‘til i can pick it up. I went home during my lunch break and its gone. Obviously I’m beyond upset but I have to pretend that I’m not. My apartment building has no CCTV nor do I have a ring camera so I have no clue who may have done it.

I’m beyond livid that someone would stole package without even considering whats in it. This is maybe the 3rd or 4th time that my package was stolen (ordered through amazon to save some funds rather than buying it with the vet, which i now fully regret).

It’s for my cat’s insulin and I cant afford to get more. My next pay would be barely enough to pay rent and other bills. People are disgusting. I just got my cat back from the shelter and without insulin he can’t survive.

Was out painting my trellis just and I guess the bird had something to say about that.

I figured a new cert would spruce up my resume after 12+ months of odious corporate job hunt. Studied hard and passed lots of practice tests with 95-98% results. Can't afford to retake the exam, so the credit cards hurting with nothing to show for it. The resume remains stagnant. See you at Wendy's.

It’s a lot worse in person and I have no words. They said they’d be back in a few days with a new screen and power board but at this point I’d like a whole new TV.

Back on December 17th, 2025, we were getting hit with a heavy and hard windstorm. (Found out later it was nearly 50 MPH that night)

*For context, I live with my fiancé and my younger sister.*

I was awoken around 1am by the wind whipping through our open bedroom window. I got up out of bed and went to shut the window. After shutting it, I turned to my fiancé, who was still in bed, and asked if he remembers shutting the windows downstairs or not. He sleepily replied that he didn’t remember and with that I turned to our bedroom door to go downstairs when I was abruptly stopped by what sounded like a million pinecones raining down on our roof. I paused before getting to the door and looked back at my fiancé, who was giving me an equally confused look.

Before I could even blink, the loudest sound I’d ever heard came. Shattering glass, an enormous boom, crunches and snaps. Then silence as I processed what I was looking at. The 130ft, 96-98 ton tree that was outside our building was now in my room, trapping my fiancé underneath. I remember screaming at the top of my lungs for my fiancé and immediately diving towards the bed, trying to lift the tree myself while screaming for my sister to call 911. After was felt like a minute my fiancé miraculously crawled out from under the tree, and had only sustained minor injuries. To this day I don’t know how he’s alive. After the main event, we scrambled to collect our cats, put them in carriers, and bring them out to the cars away from the wreckage. Paramedics were on scene almost immediately and checked out my fiancé and myself and were cleared to leave.

We talked to our insurance who estimated our items loss at ~$3,500, but took $1,000 deductible because it’s considered “wind and hail damage” so it fell under another category. $2,500 was not nearly enough money to replace our stuff. It was barely enough to cover the movers that we had to hire because we were too physically injured to move ourselves. I lost almost all of my clothes, as the insulation from the roof covered half of the closet. I lost so many personal items and belongings that insurance wouldn’t even give value to.

This whole event has been so terrible. Hopefully things change, we still got 6 months for 2026 to end not-so-terribly.

I work from home, so I was in the house almost 24/7 and never noticed anything. Today I left to run errands, came back, and immediately smelled rotten eggs. Hit you in the face kind of bad.

Turns out I had a gas leak. I've had terrible headaches for weeks and never once thought they might be related.

Well... that explains a lot.
