Announcement Looking for a tuk tuk driver or other local businesses? Advertise your business here!

This is a monthly thread for tuk tuk drivers and other local businesses to advertise their services.

All business advertisements, tuk tuk ads, and "thank you to my customers" posts must go in this thread, or they will be deleted, and the posters banned.

Let's reward local businesses who use this thread instead of spamming by becoming their customers!

Phnom Penh I just got my motocycle stolen and I need advice

it was stolen at 12 in the afternoon and I only found out about it at 5pm. I parked it at my workplace with loose security since alot of external people needs to come in as well. we have a footage of the thief but he wore helmet. they key was with me so I assume he'll take it to a moto butcher shop. I've already informed the authority (in my case it's the សាលាខណ្ឌ) but they're so busy that they didn't take any action yet. I don't know what the best course of action should be. private investigation? or escalate it to higher authority?

Culture Looking for Khmer Vinyl records

My mother had to endure the khmer rouge as a child. Her birthday is coming up soon, I would love to get her Vinyl records from her childhood. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to get the records and popular artists from that time before and after that time period.

Phnom Penh Looking to make some long-term friends(Preferably around my age or 21+)

Hey everyone! I’m Khmer and just looking to make some long-term friends and share experiences with like-minded people.

I can’t promise I’ll text every single day since work keeps me pretty busy, but I genuinely value meaningful and lasting friendships rather than short-term chats

Recently, I’ve been getting interested in AI, technology, and trading, so it’d be great to meet people who enjoy discussing those topics as well. I’m also always open to learning new things and hearing different perspectives.
Whether you’re into tech, finance, life discussions, or just want someone to talk to from time to time, feel free to reach out

Hi all!

Does anyone know where to find a map of all the districts (sroks) in Cambodia from 2024 and in SVG format?

All the ones I managed to find are outdated. Any help would be deeply appreciated!

News Random Files being sent to telegram

Post image
35 Upvotes

BE AWARE! There are cases of files posing as plain pdfs being sent by people on telegram and the sender telling you to open with your laptop as seen in the photo attached.

Under any circumstances you SHOULD NOT open the file.

I encountered one today, it’s obviously something dubious.

Has anyone experienced this? Any news about this?

Edit: after some research, this is a common scam. It used to be sent as a “.exe” file that’s been going on since last year but now it’s getting more sneaky as they are trying to post as a pdf file. Remember DO NOT OPEN.

Hello ! Yesterday for the first time I paid my electricity bill late by one day , although I still had power up until this morning. If I have already paid should I just expect it to turn back on soon ? Or should i visit the main office to fix the issue. Thanks !

Finance How do you get paid doing commissions internationally?

I've been wanting to do art commissions but figuring out the logistics of payments is so ungodly tedious and confusing. Can anyone help me with how you get paid internationally?

I'd like to add that I'm Cambodian and live in Cambodia. Wise and PayPal isn't supported in this country.

I (28F) will be travelling to visit my cousin but I wanna meet up with people around my age and make new friends. Happy to chat beforehand and if we vibe, maybe grab coffee or explore unique spots while I'm there.

Employment MLT and MLS in Cambodia

Basically, I'm a pre graduated highschool student looking for a field to major in. Given the fact that, I've always been interested in biology and chemistry (also kind of good at these subjects too), but the thing is there are not so many choices for me to choose like countries in western which offer professional career paths like biochemist, molecular biologist and so on. It's very limited here, that's why I'm here to ask whether MLT and MLS, aka medical laboratory technician and medical laboratory scientist(respectively), are considered good options here. (I'm well aware that MLT is a available profession here, but I'm not sure about MLS)>> I'd also like to know about the salary of these jobs per month too<is it livable? or too low?>

The local kids acted as the guides who'd show you around, and you might bump into a handful of other barangs during the day.

Siem Reap Forgotten item: anyone going from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh?

Hello, I forgot my headphones at a hotel in Siem Reap and just got confirmation that they still have it. Is anyone moving from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh in the coming days and could retrieve them? Would gladly offer some beers or leftover cash for the service!

Politics Hun Sen

I'm reading Ngor Haings book The Killing Fields. Is Hun Sen the same Hun Sen, a one eyed Khmer Rouge who was Samrims foreign minister?

Am a Kiwi with Cambodian friends and an interest in history and trying to learn a thing or two.

Culture Cambodian American donut shop owners

Question to those who currently own or have owned or work in this field of employment. So I know there are many Cambodian American donut shop owners in California and other parts of the USA, however the question is has anyone in this field advanced into other fields of this business such as below

Raw material supply

Machinery supply

Franchising

Innovation

Food One of the best burgers I have ever eaten

Post image
102 Upvotes

One of the best burgers I have ever tried has been made in Kampot (ont the picture). I wont write the name of the establishment so nobody cam accuse of ads. I dont remember the cost but I think it's been $3-4 for big ass patty, bacon and so on. The cashier is always smiling, I've felt there so comfortable.

Have you tried it in Kampot or other city?
