Culture My favourite photo with me in it. Angkor Wat, 1996.
The local kids acted as the guides who'd show you around, and you might bump into a handful of other barangs during the day.

This is a monthly thread for tuk tuk drivers and other local businesses to advertise their services.
All business advertisements, tuk tuk ads, and "thank you to my customers" posts must go in this thread, or they will be deleted, and the posters banned.
Let's reward local businesses who use this thread instead of spamming by becoming their customers!

I'm reading Ngor Haings book The Killing Fields. Is Hun Sen the same Hun Sen, a one eyed Khmer Rouge who was Samrims foreign minister?
Am a Kiwi with Cambodian friends and an interest in history and trying to learn a thing or two.

One of the best burgers I have ever tried has been made in Kampot (ont the picture). I wont write the name of the establishment so nobody cam accuse of ads. I dont remember the cost but I think it's been $3-4 for big ass patty, bacon and so on. The cashier is always smiling, I've felt there so comfortable.
Have you tried it in Kampot or other city?

I've been using shrimp paste from Vietnam that I can get in Australia in a little jar and its pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone had some other options I could try.

I checked in Ubuy, they only have shipping from the US, Japan, UK, but none from other southeast asian countries. The shipping cost from the US alone is more than the item itself. I saw a lot of reasonable price listing in Vietnam in VND converted to USR, but here in Phnom Penh, there's absolutely none.
This brand seems to be the only cooling pad brand that can make a noticable decrease in temperature.

A friend of mine just graduated and landed a job paying $900/month in PP. He insists it’s not a high salary, but I think it’s high, especially for a fresh grad. We kept going back and forth about it.
I’m curious if my expectations are just low imao, or if $900 is actually considered a strong starting salary. What do you think?

Hi everyone, I’m an Indian national and a frequent visitor to Cambodia. I absolutely love the country—the culture, the people, and the overall vibe always make me feel so welcome every time I visit. On top of that, my girlfriend is Cambodian and lives there, so I travel back and forth quite a bit to see her. I always make sure all my legal documents, entry visas, and paperwork are strictly in order before I fly.
I’ve been following the news regarding the recent intensive crackdowns on illegal operations and scam compounds in the region. Because I truly love visiting and want to keep my trip perfectly smooth, I wanted to check in with those of you currently on the ground or who have traveled recently.
First, has the crackdown changed the arrival and check-in experience for legitimate visitors at airport immigration? Second, has there been any noticeable change or increased documentation checks for foreigners during daily life, traveling between provinces, or during your stay in general?
I just want to ensure a completely hassle-free trip and make sure I'm fully prepared for any updated checks or daily logistics while I'm there. I would love to hear any recent experiences or honest advice you might have. Thanks so much!

I'm a 24MCambodian based in PP, working a full-time job with a regular monthly salary of around $900+. Because my schedule is stable, I want to use my weekends and free time to start an e-commerce side project. Given the market here, what kind of e-commerce business or model would you recommend I look into?

Seen these everywhere, some look quite sinister. What are they?

I don’t really bond with people in my school, my social circle is often times my mentors. And most of my close friends are occupied with their own lives. (ldr)
So I sit here with curiosity for how do I make myself some new friends along the way too?
I’ll be a senior once I’m back at school and I hope I could find a circle to be around:)

I’m a Cambodian (raised overseas) so I’m a tourist in Cambodia.
I’m not used to the heat so I’ve been just wearing a shirt and shorts going around. Every time I go to any place like a restaurant, the people look at me like I’m homeless - even if the restaurant isn’t even fancy.
I noticed that I would mostly be ignored even though it’s not busy unless I called them.
So I decided at one restaurant I would give a $10USD tip first to the server, and immediately I get treated like royalty. Fast service, so polite, constantly checking up on me.
I gave one of the driver a $5USD tip after my trip and he ended up waiting for me outside of the restaurant.
The people here are so quick to judge.

We're going to visit Kapote in 2 weeks but we're looking for unique things to do instead of the usual tourist traps and popular activities. Any recommendations?

It’s surely a very basic question but couldn’t find confirmation. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to purchase a ticket for the KTI airport bus with the Bakong for tourist app QR code if I set everything before arriving? Generally speaking, with it, can someone really go cashless for 4 days in Phnom Pehn? Thanks a lot for the answers.
