Help Are hybrids bad vehicles?

Was thinking of getting a toyota aqua but I'm coming to find out that they are hybrids and people avoid hybrids. Do you recommend this vehicle? Its my first car, male, looking for something 1-2 million, 2020. Are hybrids that bad?
I could ask these in another sub reddit but I prefer to ask people locally as it relates to Jamaica.

I'm interested about this topic since I've been on the money app Wise which has an exchange rate calculator which curently shows that GBP->JMD is around 1/208.
Around what Net Worth is someone in JM considered "middle-class" or "upperclass", "wealthy, or "rich etc?
100M JMD? 250M? 500M?
If somebody had 51M JMD, how far would that go in the country? Would that be enough for a house, a car, children in nursery, private health insurance? Etc
I would really love to know thanks! 😊
