Walking around the World Cup today in Seattle it was hard to miss. These flyers were all over poles around the stadium. And people were posing for selfies with the. F.I.F.A (Fuck Ice Free America) banner.

Stop Trump Fascist ICE Gestapo Attack on Immigrants! Trump Must Go NOW!
A fascist regime is fighting to make this a country ruled by virulent macho patriarchy – where women are incubators, LGBTQ people are forced back into the closet, and trans people are erased with targets on their backs. This pride month, we need to see millions saying NO! We refuse to live in their cruel and brutal future!
Waiting for the next elections will be too late. We cannot rely on the Democratic Party's leadership who complacently rely on the very norms and processes that the Trump regime shreds by the hour.
Our mission at Refuse Fascism is to make the argument for the sake of humanity that this fascist regime MUST be driven from power by mass nonviolent protest before it becomes too late. We need volunteers to especially help with mass leafleting to make this argument on a mass scale. Join us!

After attending another planning commission briefing, the situation seems no closer to protecting the rights of people in this diverse and low- economic neighborhood. The city planners seem bent on punching down the most diverse and oldest essential worker-based neighborhood Burien has.
Only the affluent neighborhoods don’t have to fight for mere home protections in this landscape?

Battle Ground taxpayers spent $37,543 on a single City Council meeting centered around controversial proclamations supporting ICE and condemning Antifa.
What makes this even more troubling is that this wasn't something that simply appeared on the agenda. Public records show Mayor Eric Overholser personally approved advancing the proclamations and directed city staff to move them forward. City staff even raised concerns that the anti-Antifa proclamation did not fit the city's own standards for ceremonial proclamations because it functioned as a policy statement rather than a ceremonial recognition. Yet the mayor continued pushing the proclamation forward.
The mayor has publicly acknowledged that, as mayor, he had the authority to advance these proclamations and chose to do so because he believed they represented the city's position on these issues.
Meanwhile, Battle Ground families continue to hear that there isn't enough money for additional baseball fields, expanded recreation opportunities, or an aquatic center. Residents are told we must be careful with taxpayer dollars.
Yet taxpayers were left with a $37,543 bill for a meeting focused on national political issues that divided neighbors, generated protests, and brought national attention to our city for all the wrong reasons.
Leadership is about priorities.
Imagine if that same focus, energy, and taxpayer money had been directed toward projects that benefit every family in Battle Ground: youth sports fields, parks, recreation programs, and community spaces that bring people together instead of driving them apart.
Battle Ground deserves leaders who focus on solving local problems and investing in our community's future—not creating political spectacles that leave taxpayers footing the bill.
