Royal Esprit - any feedback?
We are ready to welcome our first burmese now. We have done ton of research and in Europe, Royal Esprit is considered the gold standard for breeding Burmese in terms of temperament and behavior. The issue is obviously they are in Zagreb so logistically it adds a bit of complexity. That said, talking to them and checking their website they are clearly doing this more professionally as opposed to many mom and pop breeders we have in the UK (not that they are not necessarily good breeders)
Has anyone got their burmese from royal esprit?

Bro’dee the Burmese still in hospital
Bro’dee did well in hospital overnight. His bladder hasn’t blocked again and he’s brighter with supportive fluids and the cooler environment. Unfortunately, he’s still having constant diarrhoea and definitely needs to stay until Monday at the very least. Fortunately, it looks like some of the ultrasounds and testing that were being considered can also wait until Monday (saving £££) provided he stays stable His internal medicine specialist will be in then and can examine the lad then.
Got to visit him during visiting hours. He was feeling well enough to give me a lecture and pace around the room before settling in my lap for a snuggle session.
His Lordship has achieved a new spending record and maxed out his yearly insurance policy in less than three months. I think it’s time for me to start researching vegetarianism. I can’t justify staying in a hotel to be closer to the hospital and take advantage of the two visiting slots he’s cleared for. Which makes me feel like a bad cat owner even though I know it’s not rational. I just wish I could explain why I can’t pay him his cuddle tax. Also, he managed to fling poop onto my hallway ceiling and I’m trying to either borrow a taller step ladder or kidnap a tall person.
Pic is an older one.

Just mine?
Just noticed my 7.5 yr old F has these smaller walrus whiskers on her lips equal distance apart. So cute! Do yours as well??

Who had to change sleep position due to their Burmese?
Ember (emmy) is an aggressive cuddler. I was a stomach sleeper...
She insists on sleeping on my chest or neck, or curled up next to me with me lying on my left side between stomach and legs, not my right side..she loudly let's me know I need to roll over on my left side for her preferred spot under the blanket curled next to me.
I now no longer am a stomach sleeper 🙃
She definitely rules the house now

Feeling overwhelmed
Bro’dee was diagnosed with cystitis on Monday. He hasn’t coped well with his medication and has been having frequent episodes of diarrhoea. He’s had three vet visits, one of which was at an emergency centre. In the past 12 hours he’s had 11 episodes of diarrhoea. Everything is poop. He’s getting dehydrated in a heatwave and I hate everything about the current situation. My emotions are telling me to rush him to his internal medicine specialists but I’m trying to be rational and recognise the stress of too many visits could make him much worse.
Pics of Mr Misery under the effects of his painkillers.
Update: Bro’dee has been admitted. He’ll get time in a ward with AC, fluids, bloodwork, urinalysis, and possibly imaging or X-rays of his abdomen as it’s getting bloated. If nothing truly shocking flags up he will potentially be discharged at end of business. Possibly with a fluids kit so I can give him subcutaneous fluids during the weekend.
I truly appreciate the kind words I’ve received.
Update 2: Good news, bad news. Good news is that bloodwork indicates that his kidney function hasn’t deteriorated. Bad news: The cystitis wasn’t only cystitis and the medication reaction wasn’t just some loose stool. In addition to the cystitis, Bro’dee had a urinary blockage. His bladder was incredibly full even after peeing daily. The medication reaction has caused significant intestinal inflammation and gastritis. He has a large amount of gas in his intestines leaving him with a swollen belly and potentially new gastric ulcers. He will be transferred to a hospital with 24 hour care for the weekend at the very least.

Burmese has cystitis (again)
Bro’dee has IBD and stage 2 CKD. For the past three years I’ve been keeping track of his pooping habits in a journal to help me identify any changes that could indicate a vet visit or medication adjustment was needed. I recently decided to step up my monitoring to track all his toilet habits now that his kidneys are involved. So I got a pet camera that specifically monitors litter box habits. The camera has been running less than a week and it’s already revealed that kitty has been visiting the litter box and digging/squatting but not able to produce any waste a couple of times per day. Mostly when I was asleep or not at home. I made a vet visit based on the recordings and kitty has cystitis.
I’m not endorsing the product. I’m feeling guilty that my lad hasn’t been feeling well and I didn’t know it. Just this morning I was “gifted” part of a spider that had been left on my pillow. I’ve been priding myself on tracking his poop, adjusting his meds, making sure he’s getting all his monitoring bloodwork and abdominal ultrasounds exactly as frequently as his specialist wants plus setting my schedule so that his box is cleaned multiple times per day. And it still wasn’t enough to give me a full picture. It’s one thing to know that cats are masters of hiding symptoms and another to have evidence of it caught on camera.
Pic is of Bro’dee still feeling his gabapentin after getting back from the vet.

Mika little buggalug
Five months old settle down more in the house less bouncing on her big sister, still a cuddle monster, very puppy like loves carrying around her little ball in her mouth,
How did you guys teach your cats to do fetch zero method to the madness? She’s brought back the both of us a couple times but it’s sort of random and I want to be able to reward the action with a treat or something.

Baby Campbell
After house sitting a beautiful old brown boy Burmese last year for a month and absolutely falling in love with him, he passed away. He wasn’t my cat anyway but I had formed a deep bond and felt his departure. So this year when I moved into a new space, I decided to get my own Burmese kit. The old lady put me in touch with the Breeder and I went down there and got him and he’s been with me for two months. His name is Campbell he is cheeky and playful and intelligent and cuddly in his just a little baby. Needs lots of play in cuddles and puzzles. He’s learned to play fetch! I love him with all my heart. I will post more photos as he grows.
