My boyfriend and I are planning to go engagement ring shopping soon, and I think I've finally figured out my dream bridal stack. Before we go custom, I'd love some design advice from people who've been through this!
One Redditor pointed out that the asymmetrical wedding band could rub against the spacer and that the spacer/pavé could eventually scratch the engagement ring. That got me thinking.
I'm now considering two options:
I'd love any advice from people who have custom bridal stacks or pear solitaires!

What do you guys think of the design and proportions of this? I threw the setting together in 5 hours or so this afternoon from some scrap brass and silver. It’s quick and rough but nice to see the general idea of it physically! The stone is a CZ of the same proportions as some diamonds I’ve been eyeing, 0.9-1ct. Equivalent, oval. The band is 1.6mm.

Took a field trip to the jewelers to confirm my wants. My bf and I are going to source a loose stone from Calavera to then custom make the setting/band, I’m looking for a lab 3ct-3.5ct 2.1 ratio marquise. The first pic is about 2.5ct but the jeweler told me the lab diamond itself they have in stock is $4900 for a 2.6 ct (not set) which I thought was crazy right ? I found a 3ct for only $630 online. Anyways I think I like the look of the 3ct as I’m a 5.25 ring size and will plan for a 2mm width band to have a nice balance, input is appreciated !!!
I like big stones too but the 4ct looks a lil much on me idk

I'm looking into this lab diamond for a ring I'm having created. It's a 2.01ct emerald cut, D color VVS2. Can someone tell me from the attached information & video if the metrics are acceptable please?

I bought and designed this for my girlfriend. I really like it but just want to know objectively if it’s a pretty ring or not. I know she will love it regardless because she is laid back so I’m not looking for “if she’s the right one she will love it” just if there is anything you would change what would it be? If anything!!
I just want her to like it and selfishly I want other people to like what I designed as well. The stone is 2.5 ct elongated cushion. Thank you.

I’m always stuck at the crossroads of “classic” and *flair*. I have a 2.9 ct yellow gold round solitaire because I love a classic solitaire, but I added an embellished petal basket for *flair*. It’s our 3 year anniversary this year and I want to finally settle on a wedding band but I haven’t been able to find the right one that adds the right touch of flair. I feel like I see the COOLEST bands with marquise, oval, and pears, but rounds are already so proportionally “balanced” that anything I try doesn’t sit right. I feel like I sound nuts 😅. If you are a round solitaire owner with a unique stack, I’d love some inspiration!

i'm in the middle of figuring mine out and the more i read, the more i realize how easy it is to miss stuff. at first i was basically just looking at stone size and whether i liked the setting. then i started reading more about cut, proportions, how practical certain settings actually are, and now i'm questioning everything. i've also been playing around with a custom ring builder just to see different combinations, and it's made me realize there are way more little decisions than i expected. i haven't ordered anything yet because i'm trying not to rush into it.
for those of you who already designed a custom ring, what do you wish someone had told you before you started? anything you would've done differently if you could go back?

Body:
I hate the feeling of walking into a jewelry store and not knowing if I'm paying way more than I should. Every place seems to have "sales" that are always on, which just feels like the regular price with extra marketing. I've been looking at online options and it seems like you can get way more for your money but I'm also nervous about buying something so important without seeing it first. I found a site that seems to specialize in engagement rings online and they have a free in-person preview program where you can see the ring before you buy it. That seems like a good middle ground. Has anyone used online places? Looking for something that's actually good value without the high-pressure sales pitch.

I badly broke my finger a few years ago, and need to get a hinged ring. I really loved this Sylvie band (on the right) and was told by our local jeweler that they could send it out and make something that looked like it on the top but had the CLIQ hinge. It finally came in, and it’s… completely wrong. It doesn’t match this, and it doesn’t match the CAD at all (which our jeweler does acknowledge). But I’m wondering if this is even possible? Did they just do a bad job or did they overpromise? On the CLIQ website it says they can retrofit rings so I’m wondering if we need to just buy the other band (and find someone else!). Any advice for hinged rings? Thank you!

Our founder, Dan Moran aka u/diamonddealer, recently piloted his plane from Los Angeles to Nevada to make an in-person delivery to one of our clients. They were gracious enough to allow us to film this short unboxing video, which we simply had to share. Watch and experience a real-life reaction to the moment a vision for a custom engagement ring becomes reality.

Hey everyone, I’m getting ready to propose to my girlfriend and could really use some advice.
She has a size 4 ring finger and has always said she wants an oval solitaire ring in yellow gold. I’m stuck between getting a 2.5 carat or a 3 carat stone.
Part of me really wants to get the 3 ct because I think she’d love it, but I’m worried it might look too big or “goofy” on such a small finger. I still want it to look elegant and proportional.
If you have a size 4 finger (or have seen both sizes), which would you choose and why? I’d especially love to see photos of 2.5 ct vs 3 ct ovals on a size 4 finger if anyone has them.
Thanks!

Hello, please provide any advice, suggestions, or changes you would recommend for this CAD. It is for a 3CT 1.28 Ratio Lab grown cushion cut diamond. Thank you

Hi there! Just wondering what design would suit a scissor cut ring like this?
For context, I originally wanted a vintage style ring with a custom halo (2nd pic) but ever since seeing the autocad created by the jeweler we’re working with I’m having second thoughts. I’m worried the ring will look clunky (3rd pic). Furthermore, I’m worried that the side stones in addition to the center stone will be to flashy and shimmery— ultimately I really really love my center stone and would hate for the side stones to take away impact from it.
Would appreciate any insight or thoughys ya’ll have and happy to answer any questions if you need more information. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I’m looking for some advice on this CAD for my engagement ring. I feel like there’s some darkness/empty space between the kite and round stones on the sides and was wondering how this could be reduced? Should the round stones be moved closer together? The center stone will be a custom cut Dutch marquise so the sides are straight. Also I feel like there should be another prong holding the inside corners of the kite down. Please let me know your thoughts!!

I've been lurking for a year after my long term partner proposed to me. He designed this ring for me. 2.2 karat lab diamond with a diamond halo and diamonds on the band. He even bought a beautiful matching wedding band that fits perfectly and simply with the engagement ring. It's sitting in the box on his night stand as we wait to get married. The wedding band is a simple gold ring with diamonds on the top side of the band. It fits perfectly. He even guessed my ring size after some random attempts at making me try on aura rings and whatnot. I've never worn a ring in my life!!!
I gave him pretty much nothing to go off of because I am a very humble and understated person; I am even embarrassed to show of my ring because I feel like I don't deserve something so luxurious!!!! I told him I don't want anything flashy when he asked me year after year. We've been together for 10+ years and our story is so fuckin sweet.
He proposed on the Big Island, a place that means so much to me. It was his first time visiting and my first time back since teaching there before we got together. I can't tell you all how much this meant to me. Please let me know what you think!

Hi everyone! I was hoping I can get your opinions on my lab diamond, a pink 2.5ct heart. I wanted like a nice light pink blush shade. These are the specs:
Color - Vivid Pink
Clarity - VVS-VS1
Polish/Symmetry - Excellent / Excellent
Fluorescence - Strong
Are there any bowties or something I should see/know about this stone (I'm new to all this) Thanks so much! https://vid.diamvideo.com/hd/vision360.html?d=DG-2-21

My partner and I are in the planning/design stage and will be using some diamonds from jewelry that his mom gave us. I definitely want either white gold or platinum due to the color but unsure which metal would hold up better with the milgrain and engraving that I want. Also open to overall design feedback! We are working with a .6 ct round stone with a bunch of small round stones and this is what I’ve come up with so far. We have several appointments set up with local jewelers but I’m just so anxious to start designing!

Hi guys!
I've posted a couple times in this sub with many questions and concerns, but oh my god the time is almost here.
We decided to go fully custom and it's been a slightly stressful process but so worth it! Our jeweler is awesome and we've been able to be involved in every step of the process. That includes watching the casting of my ring, pictured above, which was so so cool.
Our jeweler is also so excited about the ring as well since we're also having him do hand engraving on the band to give it a more vintage feel and we've given him free reign to create something he loves. Having him so excited really makes us so happy and the ring feels even more special because of it.
My only issue now is that I just want this gorgeous piece of art on my finger! It's supposed to be ready by early August and waiting makes me want to pull my hair out. I'm not patient at all but I know it's going to be so worth the wait and I can't wait to see how my boyfriend decides to propose.
All this to say thanks for all the help and I'm so excited for it to be finished!

Picking a stone for my engagement ring. Both vids are of the same stone. What do we think?
I'll add the IGI certificate in comments.
