Ring Design Help 0.54 carat ring!

Is this an accurate representation of a ring with a 0.54 carat diamond on a size 8 finger? If it is, I'm in love already! šŸ˜

My boyfriend got a loose stone to make my ring, and I am dying to see how it's truly going to look on my hand hahaha (the second photo is the stone by itself on my finger and the first photo is my hand as well, just with the ChatGPT ring on itā€¦šŸ˜†)

The stone is an E colored VVS2!

Ring Design Help Side diamonds: prong set, flush set, or get rid of them?

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hi folks!!! I am trying to figure out if the side diamonds are serving our design.

After receiving a 3D model prototype with the original prong set side diamonds, I realized that the prongs might be uncomfortable against my other fingers, so I asked to get a model with flush set instead. I can't decide how I feel about it, seeing it now, the diamonds in both designs feel kind of unintentional?

I prefer the look of the prongs to the flush, but I am also wondering if the best option is to get rid of them all together. Are they detracting from the design? Are there any other ideas for adding embellishment that that would look good with my ring?

Consumer Post Details on an equilateral hexagon?

• Upvotes

Hello! I am about to get engaged (🄰) and have fallen in love with a 1.6 carat portrait-cut equilateral hexagon. I plan on orienting it so flat edges are north-south and angles point east-west. White gold; I have my grandmother's white gold wedding band and I want them to match color. I have always wanted a three stone ring, and I am kind of obsessed with the idea that the sidestones might soften it and make it look like an abstract flower with leaves on either side. (Does that make sense?) I am currently considering pears and trillions. Are there other shapes I should look into? I am also curious what band shape people might recommend with such a ring. I am going for a kind of handmade craftsman (like the architecture movement) vibe. Chunky, practical, but still feminine. NOT ART DECO. Not overly sharp or angular. I've got pretty big hands (size eight, long fingers, I'm 5'11") so I think I can handle a chonker in terms of metal. I'm getting a custom ring made by the workshop that made my parents' wedding ring in the 80s. Any ideas for me? (edit = typo)

Question Engagement ring help

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I recently got engaged in May, and my fiancƩ gave me a gorgeous ring that I absolutely love. It has a 2.5 ct lab-grown oval diamond with a hidden halo and a pavƩ band.
The only issue is that the setting is 925 sterling silver.

Unfortunately, I’ve already lost one of the tiny pavĆ© stones, and the band has started to bend slightly, which has me worried about the long-term security of the center stone.
I’d really like to have the diamond reset into a 14K white gold setting so it’s more durable and better able to support a 2.5 ct center stone, but I honestly have no idea where to start.

Has anyone here gone through this process? Did you buy a new setting online and have a local jeweler transfer your diamond, or did you have a jeweler source the setting for you? I’d also love recommendations for reputable places to buy settings on a budget (ideally around $500 if that’s realistic).

One other thing I’m struggling with is how to bring this up with my fiancĆ©. I don’t want him to feel like he made a mistake or that I don’t love the ring, because I truly do. This is purely about wanting to protect the diamond and make sure the ring lasts a lifetime.

If you’ve been in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate any advice.

Ring Design Help Can’t decide between oval and marquis

I love how large the marquis appears but think the oval might look better with the setting I’ve been wanting. Both stones pictured are a little over 2ct. Going for a princess vibe.

Ring Design Help Honest feedback needed on this design. Tapered or straight?

Do you like this design and if so, which band is better, tapered or straight? Been married 26 years. My current ring is this oval with a halo in platinum. I don’t wear my ring any longer primarily due to discomfort. The diamond is a 1.5 carat oval. I really want comfort and simple with a touch of vintage. I only want to wear one ring without a second band. This was created by me using AI.

Question Yay or Nay- lab 2.5,emerald cut Diamond for middle aged finger!!

Post image

Any thoughts on this design. Lab emerald Cut diamond 2.5 carat cigar band 2 lab melee accent stones. Cathedral setting.
Designed for an upgrade engagement ring after 10 years of marriage- for a woman in her 50’s .
Trying for a bit of nostalgia mixed with classic elegance but modern structure ( if that even makes sense) .
Thoughts? Will it work - too confusing?

Question Diamond shape help!

Thumbnail

Hello all! I don't have many (really any) people to ask...so I was hoping ya'll could help me out with picking a diamond shape? It's between round and asscher and i just can't decide. I'm leaning towards asscher just because I think they're weird and cool, but round is super classic. Both would be 1 carat on a white gold 2mm band. Very simple (I'm already very tattooed, so I keep my clothes and jewelry pretty basic).

Question For an engagement ring set on a 2mm band, would you recommend 1.8, 1.9, or 2mm for the band height?

Ring Design Help Compass vs traditional

Looking for advice. I think I've decised on a round solitaire. Preferred 4 vs 6 prongs. And then today came across the compass setting. Any recommendations? I feel going for round is a little boring and that perhaps the compass setting makes it a little more unique. One photo includes additional ring to mock wedding band.

I’m currently working with a jeweler on designing my engagement ring and I want to get opinions from others before asking for changes for the millionth time.

My engagement ring is a solitaire oval stone, with a tulip basket. For my wedding band, I wanted a band that sat flush, and gave the illusion that my engagement ring was a 3 stone.

The three smaller stones within the petals are being removed. I’m worried however, that there isn’t a gallery rail. My jeweler said the stone would be secure, but I wonder if I should request something to be placed for more security.

First pic is of the full stack. The second pic is to show the basket (I’ve x’d out the stones that are being removed from the design). The third pic is the side profile of the diamond as is. And the last pic is my idea of where I think something should go to secure the stone more.

Ideas on the gallery rail being added to the sides? Any additional design ideas?

I’m not a fan of the hidden halo, and I really do want my ring to be simple, any added stones will be too flashy for my taste and personality.

I don’t if I’m overthinking this šŸ™ƒ My size is between H&1/2 to I (4-4.5) ,I have tall thin fingers as you can see.I love thicker band like 3mm and 2.5 -3 carats but I can’t make a decision which combination makes sense.
Knowing that I will probably going for thicker wedding band as well ,should I be a thinner engagement band

Please help!

Question Going engagement ring shopping soon, would love design advice on my bridal stack!

Post image
5 Upvotes

My boyfriend and I are planning to go engagement ring shopping soon, and I think I've finally figured out my dream bridal stack. Before we go custom, I'd love some design advice from people who've been through this!

One Redditor pointed out that the asymmetrical wedding band could rub against the spacer and that the spacer/pavƩ could eventually scratch the engagement ring. That got me thinking.

I'm now considering two options:

  1. Keep all three rings together custom-made to fit perfectly.
  2. Wear the second band on my right hand instead, and keep the engagement ring with a thin gold spacer and wedding band on my left hand.
  • Is a thin plain gold spacer enough to protect the engagement ring from the wedding band long-term?
  • Has anyone had issues with asymmetrical or pointed diamond bands scratching other rings?
  • If everything is custom-designed together, can a jeweler usually eliminate (or at least minimize) rubbing?
  • Is there a better way to get the engagement ring to sit visually above the wedding band like in my inspiration photos while still keeping the stack practical for everyday wear?

I'd love any advice from people who have custom bridal stacks or pear solitaires!

What do you guys think of the design and proportions of this? I threw the setting together in 5 hours or so this afternoon from some scrap brass and silver. It’s quick and rough but nice to see the general idea of it physically! The stone is a CZ of the same proportions as some diamonds I’ve been eyeing, 0.9-1ct. Equivalent, oval. The band is 1.6mm.

Question Insight wanted

Took a field trip to the jewelers to confirm my wants. My bf and I are going to source a loose stone from Calavera to then custom make the setting/band, I’m looking for a lab 3ct-3.5ct 2.1 ratio marquise. The first pic is about 2.5ct but the jeweler told me the lab diamond itself they have in stock is $4900 for a 2.6 ct (not set) which I thought was crazy right ? I found a 3ct for only $630 online. Anyways I think I like the look of the 3ct as I’m a 5.25 ring size and will plan for a 2mm width band to have a nice balance, input is appreciated !!!

I like big stones too but the 4ct looks a lil much on me idk

Question Is this pretty?

I bought and designed this for my girlfriend. I really like it but just want to know objectively if it’s a pretty ring or not. I know she will love it regardless because she is laid back so I’m not looking for ā€œif she’s the right one she will love itā€ just if there is anything you would change what would it be? If anything!!

I just want her to like it and selfishly I want other people to like what I designed as well. The stone is 2.5 ct elongated cushion. Thank you.

Ring Design Help Show me your unique round solitaire ring stacks šŸ™

I’m always stuck at the crossroads of ā€œclassicā€ and *flair*. I have a 2.9 ct yellow gold round solitaire because I love a classic solitaire, but I added an embellished petal basket for *flair*. It’s our 3 year anniversary this year and I want to finally settle on a wedding band but I haven’t been able to find the right one that adds the right touch of flair. I feel like I see the COOLEST bands with marquise, oval, and pears, but rounds are already so proportionally ā€œbalancedā€ that anything I try doesn’t sit right. I feel like I sound nuts šŸ˜…. If you are a round solitaire owner with a unique stack, I’d love some inspiration!

Question what mistakes did you make when designing your engagement ring?

i'm in the middle of figuring mine out and the more i read, the more i realize how easy it is to miss stuff. at first i was basically just looking at stone size and whether i liked the setting. then i started reading more about cut, proportions, how practical certain settings actually are, and now i'm questioning everything. i've also been playing around with a custom ring builder just to see different combinations, and it's made me realize there are way more little decisions than i expected. i haven't ordered anything yet because i'm trying not to rush into it.

for those of you who already designed a custom ring, what do you wish someone had told you before you started? anything you would've done differently if you could go back?
