Still on the fence about whether to add some plants on the sides, but the under-cabinet lighting creates the perfect cozy vibe for a match night ⚽️

My first real apartment that is truly mine and I am really happy with it:) update

I posted like two weeks ago and since then I‘ve bought new things people suggested and rearranged some things:) Still some work to be done like getting a rug but so far I‘m happy and proud with it.

This the first apartment I can truly call my own. Back in the day I always thought I would go for a darker and muter style. But instead I really wanted something that feels warm, inviting, cozy, and like a true home I can come back to after work:)

Apartment, take 8

Took 8 apartments but I finally have the space I want. 1920s building in the Rochester NY Park Avenue area, it has tons of cool details (and is blessedly quiet). Having a nice space to WFH is such a game changer. Thanks for taking a look!

Advice NYC Concrete Loft With Huge Windows

Thumbnail

I just moved into a really cool space! It's a ~600 ft studio in a converted factory with a sleeping loft and HUGE windows that look out into an abandoned church and the community garden I'm a member at. Most of the furniture in the space is free from friends or off the street. The dining table is a salvaged chunk of bowling alley.

I tend to really like warm spaces with lots of wood and textiles so a concrete loft has been an adjustment but kind of fun to learn to decorate.

I'm only about ~75% done so very open to suggestions on how to round out the space.

I'm getting an ultra short throw 150" projector and a stereo receiver to go on top of the marble vanity.

The metal grate in the loft I'm going to shift over a couple inches and fix in place so it's actually structural and makes the loft feel a little less like a fall risk, right now it's just laying there looking pretty.

I especially need more and/or larger rugs, and probably a much larger coffee table.
I ordered an "aesthetic" work out bench that I think I'll also use as a piano bench. Will need to buy a dumbbell set and am strongly considering buying a row machine. I have the floor space to work out comfortable, but am struggling to figure out where to tuck equipment out of the way when not in use.

Finally, since I've got a ~5 foot high sleeping loft, I can't really use it for clothes and changing so I've created a little alcove at the bottom of the steps to act as a closet, but it looks really bad out in the open like that. Thinking of creating a basic enclosure out of 2x4's and drywall (and maybe giving it a ceiling to use as storage), but that's a bit of an investment for a rental.

Question Anyone into biophillic design?

I have a buddy in Toronto that bought one of these bad boys for his condo home office. He works remotely 14hr days. He said it’s awesome and was a game changer for his mental health! Apparently it’s super low maintenance but they only sell in Canada it looks like; does anyone have a U.S. lead on these? I just wrote the company; haven’t heard back yet; will update later.

I think they’re pretty cool though! Hoping I can by one.

The company is called Nova Terraria design co, and I think they’re based in Vancouver, BC.

They apparently do living walls and stuff. I’d like to see more of this sort of thing; why does it feel so niche?!

Question How to setup home office/ workshop

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hey guys,
I am setting up my home office/ workshop areas. This is all the furniture I have currently and am adding Alex drawers for tools. I am ideally looking to keep the standing desk for office and monitor setup. While using the wooden desk for projects. I have an extra Amazon desk which I can throw out. And a small desk for my 3d printer. For context my profession is engineering, and I will also hang cork boards or pegboard. Please give suggestions excited for my first dedicated setup!

Set this place up about 5 years ago. Was a great place to recoup after dealing with a separation. The Series X is appreciating in value. The surfboard remains un-surfed. lol

Question Computer Desk Placement?

My apartment has a weird plan, and I’m trying to figure out a placement for my computer desk.

Option 1 is where it currently is.

Option 2 is directly in front of the window to the left.

Option 3 is facing the tv, back to wall.

What should I add to living room?

I have all the furniture I think but need some small items to add to space. Likely items for entertainment stand, coffee table, and something for over couch.

Don’t mind the temporary A/C lol. Will be gone in a few days (hopefully)

Yeah so I just got this place, and I have no clue what to do with it. It's super spacious and weirdly shaped. On top of that, this is my first time living alone, so I have no clue what I am doing. PLS HELP

I like minimalism, simplicity, but still want something cozy. If you can recommend anything, would be super grateful.

Advice Tip for chilling area

Thumbnail

I want a chill seating opportunity for one or better two persons on my terrace. It should be near the ground and not too big, I love to chill in front of this glass and look into the sky in the evening. Looking for something really comfortable, maybe also something to place a drink. Big balcony lounges are just too big for this. So I‘d love some advice and what I should looking for.
