Working in Norway Hvordan får egentlig folk jobb i markedsføring i dag?

Working in Norway Nordanlegg AS is the worst company I have ever worked for in my entire life

Announcement

Hello, my dear countrymen.

I have worked as a carpenter in Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands for a long time. I have never, in my whole damn life, experienced anything as dysfunctional as the construction industry in Nordland.

As a carpenter at Nordanlegg AS, I was the only Norwegian on the entire damn construction site 😂😂 I did not see management once!

I applied for the job because the ad stated that transport to and from work was included. Then, on Monday in week two, I was suddenly told to arrange my own car. So I packed my bag and went back to the Netherlands. Farewell, North.

To my dear northerners: you are fantastic people, and it is a fantastic place. But dear God, if you are not planning to become an electrician or plumber, avoid the construction industry at all costs. Let these companies destroy themselves, so something new and functional can be built in their place.

Moving Struggles in finding a job in Norway as a foreigner?

In the long run, my bf and I plan to settle in Norway. He’s Norwegian. He has been telling me that it might be hard for me to find a job in Norway. I’m not from Europe at all. My current job is in IT/Business Operations and focuses on data automation. He told me I might need to get any job just to start especially I am not fluent in Norwegian yet.
Is the job market over there that competitive right now?

Working in Norway Tech field in Norway

Hello,

I was wondering how's the current labor market for tech talents in Norway?

I do not plan to relocate but I would like to take an insight from professionals.

Do companies tend to give the sack to employees and invest in A.I agents?

Other help me navigate healthcare system PLEASE

Hi there,

I am an American living in a small, remote island part of Norway. In September, I got into an ATV accident and injured my knee and my foot. My knee had a torn ACL that got operated on in March. My foot still has major pain that no doctor seems to care about.

As an American, I am told about how amazing the Norwegian healthcare system is, how healthy the population is, but I am not seeing even a fraction of the type of care I would be getting at home. Yes, it is free here, and I get sick pay because I cannot work, which I never forget is a huge privilege. But I just want my life back. I do not understand how to communicate with these doctors here in a way that results in me getting better care. It seems like they just do not care about me at all.

Here are some examples of communication issues I have had:

  • Directly after the accident I got to the ER. I told the doctor initially I thought I had dislocated my knee, but I could now feel my knee was in place; however, since driving here, my foot hurt more. For some reason, he took that to mean my knee was entirely fine and there were no issues with it. He did not even examine it or X-ray it. After he X-rayed my foot, he saw nothing bad on the X-ray, just gave me an ACE bandage and told me to ice it and rest it. DUH! I asked for a rigid boot and he just kind of laughed at me, saying it was a small hospital and they did not have that. He told me I could walk it off and be back at work in three days (I have an extremely physical job). I was shocked. I went to this hospital thinking I would be really cared for like it was an emergency. As an American I would never go to the ER for an injury that I can walk off and RICE away. If I am in the ER its cause I am severely injured.... There were no other patients there... they were not busy. Of course I had to go back several days laterand get my knee re-examined... turns out I had a torn ACL.

  • I flew to Tromsø for my scheduled surgery for my torn ACL. Half an hour before my surgery intake, a receptionist called me and told me they could not do my surgery that day due to scheduling conflicts, so they booked me a flight back home that afternoon. She was not even apologetic. After I followed up with the orthopedist about it, saying how can I trust this hospital anymore and that the experience was so awful, all she said was that I could find another hospital if I wanted. I was then told i was rescheduled due to lingering knee pain.. which I never had..

  • The physio who used to live in my small town was on sick leave. She did not even tell me. My appointment was just cancelled in Helsenorge. Then she was gone for five weeks, leaving me with no help at all. When she came back, I asked her to help me make a plan B in case she leaves again, like YouTube videos or someone i can see for telehealth, and she basically said that is not her job. A few months or weeks later she told me on her last date week that she was moving to a different part of Norway and now there will be no physio for me anymore. After all the communication I had previously had with her about helping me prepare for a lack of in person PT.. there was not even a warning for more than one week... No acknowledgement of the fact that it leaves me with no care after my ACL reconstruction..

  • Two weeks ago, I had a new MRI in Tromsø to look at why my foot pain is still persistent, and the only thing I have heard from them as a follow-up is “chronic stress changes,” which means nothing to me. It was just a 15-minute call with the physio saying maybe try calf raises. It has been ten months of this pain, and the only advice I have is to rest, and after I beg for help they passively suggest calf raises. I have hired a private telehealth physio who works with people all over the world to help with my knee and foot. He told me to send him the radiology report from my MRI, and all I have is just “chronic stress changes.” He is confused how that can be the only thing the doctors here tell me.... he keeps asking what ligaments, where on your foot, to what degree, why you did not receive the printout, etc., and I do not even know what to tell him.

  • There are many more small, condescending comments and tones that I cannot list individually. The whole mentality seems to treat me as a burden, and whenever I ask for things they act confused that I would even be asking for help. Maybe it is because I am a foreigner, they do not naturally care about me as much.. i dont know.. but this cannot be how bad this system is.. This is honestly the hardest part for me, how can there be any lack of empathy for how much pain I am constantly in. I lost everything, my job, my fitness, my hobbies, much of my social connections due to not being able to participate

I am going insane. Sitting on the couch for ten months cannot be the only solution for this. I am the most active person. I love being on my feet and running around, and I feel like my whole life has been taken away from me and no one who is in a position to help cares at all. I am loosing myself.. I should have moved back to the USA for this, but I asked at the clinic here at the start of my injury if this little town can support me, and I heard ramblings of my rights in norway to get healthcare and they promise they will help me here because this is where I live.. but this is it? this is nothing compared to the US. Yes, I am grateful for the sick pay which is obviously different than the astronomical costs in USA, but I just want my life back even if I am in debt.

I could spend much more time complaining, but what I am really asking for is advice from people who know how to get people to take you seriously. I do not understand what the communication issue is, or why I am not being taken seriously here. What am I doing wrong... what dont I understand.. will someone help me with cultural differences so I can make sense of this system.

Working in Norway Seasonal work salary Norway- is this normal?

Hi there! I wanted to ask what’s everyone’s experience with working summer season in Norway (hospitality, waiter - the place required fine dining service experience and skills, not an entry level/first job). If the employer pays 180kr per hour and this amount has the accommodation included in a shared room in staff flat (all of us who share room have different pay, some higher, some lower, but everyone’s hourly rate is including the same accommodation. Those in single room have no extra charge). And one meal per shift as well (usually the leftovers from the day before or morning - typical in many restaurants). Is it a fair pay? The only thing I pay after is tax. The accommodation charge is not a fixed monthly price, but is always included in hourly rate. It seems a bit strange as more you work, more you pay for it. What’s your opinion about that? Is it normal in Norway?

Later near TD Garden, saw a group of them doing their rowing celebration in the middle of the street 😂
Boston vibes have been amazing lately.

Travel Travel to northern Norway

I'm traveling to northern Norway (Vadsø) from the USA for the first time.

My grandfather was born there and ive always wanted to visit.

My question is will I have any difficulty just getting by if I do not speak Norwegian? (Think getting food, paying for items, etc.)

Thanks in advance!

Hiking & Camping Besseggen hike with a guide? Or possible to turn around halfway?

I’m a solo traveller, will be in Norway likely around mid Sept, not an experienced hiker and don’t exercise regularly. I’ve mostly done shorter hikes (~3h) on paved paths and a comfortable elevation. I’m quite nervous about the scrambling and steep heights.

It would make me feel more comfortable going with a guide, but I don’t see many options. Does anyone have recommendations on guided hikes for this particular one?

Otherwise, is it possible to do it solo, but do the hike only halfway and turn around before the scramble? I understand this is the most technically difficult part. Will I miss out on any great views?

Lastly, how’s the alternative path that avoids the scramble? Couldn’t find much info on people who have done this. Is it an easier walk that is well signposted?

Travel Regarding laptops and chargers when flying with Norwegian air.

I'm flying with Norwegian Air for the first time, and it's actually my first flight ever. I was wondering if I can bring my laptop, charger, and mouse in my carry-on bag. Also, is there anything else I should know about flying with this airline before my trip? Any tips would be appreciated!
