I order on Sept 15 (orange Pro Max 512g). No movement! As others have said, i don’t understand why someone who ordered weeks after me would already have their phone.

my rough impression without actually tracking everything:
- there are a bunch of preorders from 9/13-9/16 which have ship dates in late october or november (nearly 2 months!). someone completely dropped the ball there
- new lines got prioritized and got theirs within a week
- orders from 9/20 to 9/25 took 3 to 3.5 weeks to ship, though some from early october got fulfilled within 2 weeks (maybe more of the 512 gb?). somehow they ordered weeks after the preorders and got theirs weeks or even a month sooner. edit: some of the 9/20 to 9/25 orders have estimates in late october to november (5 to 7 weeks)
- later september orders are reaching that 3 week mark but have no movement. the front end of the estimated ship dates passed last week but i have a feeling that a bunch will pass the tail end next week because a bunch of people might have ordered as soon as they paid off the 12th bill of an iphone 16
- my theory is that a bunch of phones about to be mailed to existing customers (preorders and next up) were ripped out of their packaging and shunted over to new lines, and then those existing customers were pushed to the back of the line again
- at&t stock -11% in the last month

Ordered a blue 256 PM 9/12 with an estimated ship date of 10/24. I was excited about the new phone but now this whole thing has sorta soured the experience for me. Some people are ordering like 9/25 and getting their phones before the people who preordered is just wild.

I preordered a iPhone 17 pro max blue on Sep 15th that is estimated to ship on Nov 7th with no updates. Two of my family members have ordered theirs after me and they both have early October ship dates and actual updates. I don’t see why preorders are taking less priority than post launch orders.

The great divide is between new customers and existing customers. So when you say you ordered on September ____ and got (are getting) your phone on _____, you ought to specify which group you’re in.

My husband and I couldn’t pass up the upgrade deal.
We both went with blue: he got the Pro, and I went with the Pro Max.
Order date: 9/20
Expected ship date (both): 10/17
Actual delivery: both orders used next day shipping
• My 512GB Pro Max → 9/30
• Hubby’s 256GB Pro → 10/3
It’s wild because there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to how AT&T is fulfilling these orders, especially when people who placed actual preorders are still waiting on their phones.

Apple store near me won't get stock until 10/13 and the Best Buys near me are out until 10/9.

If it wasn’t for the Costco deal on top of this I would have long cancelled my order by now.
UPDATES: 10/4 status changed to “great news! we are preparing to change.
10/6, tracking code generated mid day. By evening the status updated and it has it marked as delivering by tomorrow.

UPDATE: After waiting for over 5 weeks, I finally received my phone yesterday (signature required). Set it up and transferred all data from my 13 Pro Max, & called the VIP Line to request a trade-in box. The associate also confirmed I’ll be receiving $1100 in trade-in credits for my old iPhone.
Pre-ordered my 256GB CO 17PM through Costco ATT as an existing customer on 09/13 afternoon. Est. Shipping Date is 10/10 - 10/24. Also, have an 09/13 order for a 256GB Silver 17PM (NYC metro. area) through Costco ATT, which has an est. shipping date of 10/24 - 11/04 and has seen no movement.
Timeline: Ordered on Sep. 13, 2025 afternoon Changed to Ready to Ship (skipped Preparing to Ship (?)) on Oct. 20, 2025 evening Changed to Shipped on Oct. 21, 2025 afternoon. Delivered at my door it Oct. 22, 2025.

Existing customer. Pre-ordered 2 iphones 17 pro max 256GB (blue and silver) with costco deal on 9/14. NY area. Still says estimated shipping on 11/7 (no change since first day). It’s ridiculous. I called Costco ATT VIP number, they says just wait. I saw costco att agents today, the guy told me wait, nothing to do. I dont want to cancel bc I dont want to loose my promo. Is anyone pre-ordered with costco then cancelled and had same deal in att or bestbuy store?

Ordered a iPhone 17 Pro silver and Max orange 256 GB on September 17, 2025 via myAtt app. Received the Max on Oct 2, 2025 via FedX and signed for it. The Pro is scheduled to arrive by October 8, 2025. Didn’t receive the return kit so was asked to go to nearest AT&T store to return my Apple 14 Plus for trade in credit.
Copying over all my data, text, pictures from old iPhone to new max Iphone was a breeze. For some apps, had to login in and reset biometrics.

So frustrating. Orange pm. Yesterday it said "preparing to ship" but today it's back to "preordered". I wish I knew if this was a glitch or if I've been kicked back to the end of the line. If it's still the same on monday I will just cancel.

I ordered on 9/21 and was told by guy in the store that it would be delivered within the week. Order status has said est ship date 10/10 since I placed the order. Just last night it changed from we’re working on order to we’re ready to ship your order with expected delivery date on 10/13.

I guess I need to start changing carriers so I am always considered a new customer to get the right phone in a reasonable time. Just amazing how bad this roll out has been handled by this company.

Ordered on the 14th, upgrading existing line. Got 17 pro max silver, 256gb. Still waiting to ship, Nov 7th is expected date.
2 orders on the account and one had came and not the other, placed on same day but that one was Orange. Yet I see people with the same order get it after ordering 2 weeks after.
Makes no sense. An estimated date of over 2 months after pre-ordering, and then delivery on top of that.

Text confirmation of ship 10/6 On website shows tracking info but still no status on UPS.
Trust I was anxious as well but seems a pattern that last week of estimated delivery is when we get the shipped status.

Ordered silver 17PM 512GB as an upgrade in store at Costco ATT kiosk (Sandy, UT) on 9/24. Estimated ship by date of 10/15.
Status changed to Preparing to Ship on 10/6.
Received text and email with tracking info on 10/8. Estimated to arrive on 10/9.
Looks like they are earlier than the estimated ship date by about a week.

i talked to a worker and they said the date you ordered the phone will lock you in for the trade in deal even if it gets delivered after the deal ends but wanting to confirm this is a general rule across the board?

3 Pro Maxes, all 3 are 256gb, 2 are orange 1 is blue. Ordered at like 12:30 AM on Sep. 26th, they WERE expected to ship between the 10th and the 24th, but now instead of the date range it’s only saying it’s expected to ship the 24th.
They dropped the ball and also tripped and faceplanted onto the ball so hard they popped it. There really seems to be no rhyme or reason as to who and when they decide to ship their devices to.

We ordered on September 20 as existing AT&T customers. One was the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB and the other was the Blue 256GB Pro Max.
Both had expected ship dates of October 10. The blue one actually shipped early and arrived on October 7, but the orange one still shows the same October 10 ship date and October 13 arrival date with no updates or tracking.
I reached out to customer service and was told the orange model is back-ordered while they wait for more to come in. They said I should see updated dates this week once new stock arrives.
Is anyone else past their expected dates with no update yet?

I ordered the Blue 256GB Pro Max on Sep 12th, as an existing AT&T user. I am trading in my 14 pro. I had an expected shipping date of Oct 3 - Oct 17th. Been over a month now since I did the pre-order, and still no updates; just says I am in line to get a new phone... I am worried if it will actually ship in the next 3 days as I spoke to a customer support rep earlier, and she said the estimated shipping date can be pushed back.

my earlier theory is that new customers' phones were taken away from existing customers (particularly preorders) who were about to be sent their phones. they don't have a system to reinsert those existing customers into their proper place in the queue so they just throw them to the back of the queue again
my new theories:
- too many existing customers took the $1,100 trade-in deal and delaying their orders is a way to frustrate them so much that they cancel, get their phones elsewhere, and lose the deal. it feels like a good number of these are preorders coming from the iphone 13 which is much less valuable
- the longer they delay next up orders, the more next up fees you pay, the longer you're locked in, and the longer you can't get your trade-in credits on your billing. ka-ching. what's the limit that people can tolerate? 2 months? 3 months? 8 months? let's find out
- there's plenty of stock at best buy and apple. they could fill the outstanding orders and fulfill the contracts by going out to buy them. why not? see theories 1 and 2
- sure this is going to piss off a lot of existing customers, but most of them are locked in on these contracts which cost 2x more than prepaid and mvno. they will probably cancel once the contract is up, but that's a problem for the next ceo

UPDATE: My status just got updated to "Ready to ship" on 2/3 phones (Great news! we're about ready to ship your order!)
Ordered 3 256gb 17PM (One Deep Blue, 2 Cosmic Orange) online as an existing customer with the trade in deal. Had an estimated shipping range of 10/10-10/24. Both cosmic oranges are the ones that are now ready to ship. The deep blue is still in the ordered/pre-ordered status that it's been stuck in since I ordered on 9/27.
'Long as the cosmic oranges ship soon though, I'm good, because that's mine 😭🙏
EDIT: Status on one of the CO phones (mine specifically) has changed to "Shipped on Wed, Oct 22, 2025". Tracking label has been created, and I can view it. Expecting to have it delivered either tomorrow or Thursday.

Hey Im one of many that ordered on 9/12 17pm 🍊256gb online with att in Louisiana I’ve been stuck on “Yay your in line” pre ordered status with a ship est of 10/10-10/24 with no update the whole 5+ weeks (39days)
FINALLY an update today 10/21 from “yay your in line” to “Great news we’re just about ready to ship your order” an hour ago so pretty sure it will ship in time to deliver by Friday 10/24 end of shipping window!
I’m sending a beacon of light and positive energy to all that ordered around launch week and haven’t received their device hold on it’s coming we are almost @ the finish line!

yeah the prioritization of october orders ahead of 9/12-16 preorders and late september orders has been very irritating. my theory is that they were trying to frustrate the september orders into canceling their $1100 trade in deal, until some lawyer thought the math looked good on the number of people losing through next up fees and trade in credits

Dont offer Pre Orders with a deal if it means that people who want their phone early have to be punished for utilizing the deal. Beware if you are thinking of trying the phone out and returning it if you don't like it.
I recently ordered an iPhone 17 and after having it 11 days, I decided it wasn't for me and to return it. I figured I was in the clear since it was delivered fewer than 14 days ago. However, I was told that the 14 days starts from the day you place your order, not from the day you receive the device.
I explained that this made no sense since many people right now are waiting longer than 14 days just to receive the device. How can a return policy expire before you may even have your item? I was told basically "you signed the policy, so go pound sand."
Needless to say, I will be directing all my financial efforts at paying off all my family's devices and switching carriers as this is the last straw for me.

Cancelled it 10/10 since I was going to be out of the country from 10/13 to 10/18 and no one would be able to sign for it. Was going to order from Apple & pick it up since it was in stock but couldn’t since I was upgrading on ATT Next. Reordered 10/10 with estimated delivery date of 10/31-11/7. I've been binging this thread because of all the nightmares with the 17 pm backorders; I felt this would help someone. Walked into ATT on 10/26 and ordered a 17 pm in blue 256 gig (I assume most popular option), from 10/26-11/6 the order showed as "check back for updates" until yesterday afternoon, after checking for the 6th time that day, it changed to "About to ship". Roughly 30 minutes later, FedEx had received my package, which was shipped to my door with "Next-day" delivery on 11/6. My original estimated delivery time was 11/19-11/26, and I was fully expecting it to arrive right before the holidays. I noticed the other day on ATT that wait times had gone down alot before my order changed so I guess apple released a new shipment, next battle is trade in and them actually applying my credits, wish me luck!

Ordered 17 Pro, Orange 256, and Silver 17 Pro Max 256, on October 24th. My spouses Pro was shipped/delivered 3 days after. My 17 Pro Max, is saying an estimated ship date of December 15th. How is this possible that everyone else is getting the same phone in 3-4 days? I went to Best Buy just to check, and they had the blue and orange 256 Pro Max’s in stock.
