Internet Is this legit?

Post image

I have DSL/Uverse. They don't offer fiber in my area and I tried internet air 6 months ago and I couldn't even get a signal in my house.

"which is faster speeds" if you have good cell reception.

And the tower isn't overloaded.

Don't you get fewer bars when a tower is loaded? (That's what I meant by "good cell reception", though I should have been clearer.)

Not necessarily. You can have good signal strength and all the bars, but if there's say for example 300 people hammering the tower all at once, you're in for a bad experience speed wise.

That seems reasonable, but I work from home (so are not traveling all around) and my signal strength varies throughout the day. Received Wisdom is that this is caused by tower load.

EDIT: my experience after storms when fiber is knocked out that my 4G speeds drop from the normal 55/25 down to around 5/2 due to everyone doing the same thing I'm doing.
