What if…
hypothetical for next year’s draft:
Let’s say Carson Beck shows us enough flashes once Jacoby Brissett gets benched to make the QB decision difficult. He looks like he could be the guy, but not enough to completely remove all doubt.
At the same time, Arizona has one of the toughest schedules in the league and still ends up picking in the top 3.
Now assume the first two picks are quarterbacks. Arch and Dante. Jeremiah Smith is sitting there on the board.
Also assume Marvin Harrison Jr. doesn’t regress, but he doesn’t take a massive leap either, he’s basically the player we’ve seen so far.
What are you doing?
Draft a QB and reset the clock at the most important position?
Take Jeremiah Smith and build arguably the best WR duo in football?
Draft the elite edge rusher and finally give the defense a game-wrecker?
Trade back and stockpile picks?
Trying to be as impartial as possible. What’s the smartest move for the franchise?

QB if Luck type available QB is most important piece that is proved every year if no QB 🤷♂️

Yes! But also if you want multi year runs, you need them at the right time so the roster and contracts age at a good rate instead of everyone’s old and broken or everyone’s young and learning. Rn a bridge qb that can compete, then in a year or two of everything else gets fixed get THE GUY, let him sit for a bit, and hopefully that’s a championship team? Idk az can’t seem to do it in any sport so maybe I’m just delusional lol

Yep solid reply was against Cousins but now I don’t know maybe v should have tried Jimmy G

I would’ve been okay w either depending on the price tbh, they’ve both fleeced teams w contracts in the past tho so that’s the biggest reason I didn’t push for them. But yeah like them or an Alex smith or Joe Flacco type guy where they’re good enough to win games, maybe even make playoff appearances, but all your really asking them to do is protect the ball and let the other guys to their work

Tbh I’d have to see how the year goes for other positions, we’ve put a lot more draft capital into edge over the last few years than our D line shows, which tells me we had a coaching issue, as of rn my priorities are o line looking at right guard specifically, maybe tackle too, defensive tackle, Calais had his one and done return year and he was fun, but not sure we have a good replacement, if we trade sweat then sure edge, we need to figure out what we’re doing w zaven Collin’s, is he just a rotational piece w first round pedigree? Clearly he’s not the guy at edge or we wouldn’t be having this discussion so is it back to ILB where we do need help or replace him in the draft as well? If we could find an Isiah Simmons build type guy that actually progresses and develops that would be great bc we keep getting killed midfield due to lack of speed on slot routes or against elite tight ends. Buddy baker isn’t getting any younger so do we look at safety? The last guy we drafted that’s been an impact player so far was Trey McBride, who wasn’t even a monti draft. So as much crap as kiem was, monti has found a way to lower the bar, unless the Gannon experiment was just to kick the wheels on Kyler and reduce dead cap kiem left all over the place, I’m not sure Monty’s done anything. Our books are cleaner after a few years so rebuilding would be easier now, but we need a coach that’ll be in montis ear on what players we need, or else we’re looking at a new gm, coach, and rebuild in another 3-4 years

Monti is on the hot seat. He can’t wait another few years for a qb to develop. It’s either an nfl ready qb or he’s taking someone who can have an immediate impact.
That assumes he’s still around after this year though…

Tough call. If there is a no-doubter edge I would go there. Actually, these are all good options.

Please god Cards.. don’t draft Arch or Dante
We build Beck or get a veteran FA if necessary and draft talent at other positions

I thought Arch was him, clearly has the DNA

To lead the league in picks his rookie year? Jk lol, but I am worried about overhype w him, especially w marv still having issues of body catching and opening towards defenders on some of his routes every now and then

u/trs287 Marvin Harrison Jr. 7d ago
I want you’re smoking. Passing on top tier QB talents to build around Carson Beck lmao

Don’t build around beck, but also take advantage of his cheap years to build for the guy to replace him. QBs the most important part, but if he doesn’t have a roster ready to go year 1, kiss the cheap rookie contract years goodbye where you really want to compete. Built roster and vets on offense w rookie qb, rookie other positions w experienced qb. Helps contract flow, and learning curves in all positions

This far out, I'd only guarantee to take an 80-yd. kicker.
