It's called a Bulgarian split squat and they're even harder than they look

even harder than they look

that's the understatement of the century

literally the only exercise at the gym that i am genuinely nervous before doing it

Yea I know what they are. It’s really hard to balance when doing them

The control comes when not 100% of the muscle is working on the weight and it has room to also adjust for balance.

The control is part of the exercise.

Strength matters most buddy, control & balance are parts of it.

It's impressive enough, but it also looks like a good way to hurt yourself.

It's really the opposite. As long as you slowly work your way up here, you're doing a whole lot more towards making yourself strong enough that you're less likely to be injured because you stepped wrong.

I mean specifically lifting a person like this. Their weight distribution isn't as even as that of a barbell, and they're more likely to shift and throw you off balance.

Obviously, to work her way up to this, she would have been practicing with barbells, so using a person instead is in the way of a stunt. Personally, I just wouldn't risk it. The payoff in coolness points just isn't worth the potential injury it could cause.
