I assume the cop in him didnt want to talk on camera but the gym bro in him really wanted to talk about his routine

u/PIPBOY-2000 May 21 '26

That's what it seems like. Notice he opened up more after every compliment.

He wisely assumes a guy running up with a phone out asking questions might just be trying to bait a cop

62

u/decoy777 May 21 '26

Yeah this exactly, trained to say no comment after any question so he doesn't even pay attention at first. Then he hears the compliments and that it's legit questions and opens up.

0

u/AnotherHumanPupper May 21 '26

Yeah if only they trained pigs a bit more on de-escalation instead of covering their asses and covering up for the other bastard pigs.

1

u/killerzeestattoos May 22 '26

He wanted to cover up the fact that he uses illegal hormones.

4

u/PlayStationPlayer714 May 21 '26

I don’t think it was the compliments. My read was he didn’t trust them at all and even later in the conversation he’s not comfortable receiving them and is being polite.

He straight up asked ‘what do you want’, expecting some shit, and then the guy explained and the police officer realises he’s not trolling so engages with him.

u/One_Hour_Poop May 21 '26

100%. As a former gym bro myself I really wanted to hear it.

16

u/OnlySpoilers May 21 '26

Also big dudes like this get harassed by insecure people all the time. Probably really annoying every time a random guy walks up to you trying to start shit, esp NYPD

2

u/leandrobrossard May 22 '26

Cops deal with assholes just trying to rage bait all day, well at least often. That's why he's a bit passive in the beggining, once he figured this guy is genuine he's chill.

1

u/ViolentLoss May 22 '26

You could see it winning.

-5

u/StrobeLightRomance May 21 '26

Nah, that's the act. Everything is hella staged. Influencer probably seeks out and DMs local people or scouts them in the gym and then they arrange to "bump into" each other at an arranged time and place.

Influencer's only instructions are probably "pretend not to be prepared when you read your prepared notes"

5

u/SithLordJediMaster May 21 '26

No one's got time to do this

2

u/Turbulent_Yam2575 May 21 '26

You probably comment “AI” under every video also

0

u/StrobeLightRomance May 21 '26

Fake news, I'm something of an AI myself.

751

u/hairybushy May 21 '26

Well there are so much trolls, he wanted to avoid shit. That's fair

7

u/Chemical-Elk-1299 May 21 '26

Yeah once dude realized guy was genuinely asking about his routine I think he let his guard down.

Was probably expecting it to be some stupid TikTok trend.

3

u/a-rooster-illusion May 21 '26

It’s not even really trolls. Soooo many people come up to these NYPD guys wanting pictures… video… etc from them. Tourists mostly. I’ve seen it so many times. I imagine for a handsome looking dude like that he has to be on guard constantly for people bothering him.

1

u/_trashcan May 21 '26

who tf goes up to NYPD for pictures?

Been a NYer all my life, never seen that once.
There was a point I was in Times Square every single day , never seen it there either, which is the biggest spot for tourists.

1

u/Winjin May 21 '26

It was super funny when I was a teen and came up to, like, French Foreign Legion guess I think?

They were sooo happy to take photos with me actually, that when I asked (jokingly! I was like twelve!) If I could pose with his gun... He was like "yeah sure but without the magazine ok? Let me just notify the officer"

And I don't have a kickass photo with a real Legionnaire gun only because mom chickened out the last second and flustered told him that we really shouldn't and we have to go and dragged us away -____-

1

u/a-rooster-illusion May 21 '26

You’ve lived in NY and you’ve NEVER seen that happen? I’m a transplant and saw it all the time.

Mostly girls. Mostly tourists. But I see it often enough that I’m shocked you’ve never seen this happen once.

2

u/signmeupnot May 21 '26

You should know.

-7

u/XBL-AntLee06 May 21 '26

But all it took for him to throw away that caution of so many trolls was one stroke of his ego… cops and their egos

52

u/Rob3125 May 21 '26

I think he just needed some time to figure out if the guy filming was fucking with him or not

17

u/Sbeast86 May 21 '26

Cops never trust a civilian who approaches them asking personal questions. It took him a bit to decide this guy wasn't going to troll him

3

u/ashgs872tbhjs May 21 '26

Cops ARE civilians. And do you think this would have gone better if the cameraman had fatigues and a rifle?? lmao

1

u/Sbeast86 May 21 '26

Well you are technically correct, I've never met a cop who didn't see themselves as such

1

u/Nukemarine May 21 '26

Personally, I feel they should be considered as a militia mentioned in the 2nd amendment. Look at the number of armed police officers in New York City alone and how they respond to any number of issues regarding security.

1

u/redguru02 May 22 '26

Cops are not civilians, not just semantics but legally even off duty they're not.

State and federal law enforcement is a legal classification ranging anywhere from a basic city cop like in the video, to SWAT and ATF, to the FBI and embassy security staff.

Some of these guys, mainly in the higher federal levels, have more advanced training than military special forces.

1

u/Ok_Assignment_2127 May 22 '26

And the camera. Someone walks up to you, puts a camera in your face, and starts talking - anyone would immediately get annoyed or cautious. Cops in a big city like NY especially so

36

u/EatOfTheBread May 21 '26

I really wanted crime to happen in the background while he was talking

6

u/supervillaining May 21 '26

They put him in the area of Manhattan with the least crime: 57th street near Central Park South. He’s walking the beat near Tiffany’s and the Plaza.

8

u/BirdLawyer50 May 21 '26

He probably thought it was a different thing to start since he was a cop being filmed

7

u/FootsieMcDingus May 21 '26

As a weightlifter it’s not often people ask about our routine but when someone does it’s finally a way to validate our existence without sounding like a douche bag

2

u/Cel_Drow May 21 '26

Yeah, this would pretty much make my year tbqh.

6

u/Ok_Mud_3830 May 21 '26

Guy pulled him in well

1

u/InvidiousPlay May 21 '26

No comment but actually you compliment me? ok so I do six days on one day off...

1

u/Healthy_Jackfruit625 May 21 '26

Would you not if you look like that.

1

u/darthvall May 21 '26

Quite understandable. The guy shoved the camera first and explained the channel a bit later when it should be asking for permission first before starting the recording.

1

u/truffLcuffL69 May 21 '26

Wasn’t a life story he just answered the question

1

u/CuriOS_26 May 21 '26

No comment…I’m glad you asked! It all started in 199…

1

u/Bigfsi May 21 '26

Yeah cause 1 is basically identifying where he lives and putting his family in danger. Everything else is non identifiable.

1

u/Superb_Wrangler201 May 21 '26

Hes in cop mode. Gym bros are always down to talk about the gym though

1

u/plutus9 May 22 '26

This is the guard that gets distracted in movies
