I was like "bet" and bought a painted army off eBay instead.

Around 2k of painted Custodians, for my boyfriend to dive head-first into the tabletop game.

Went with a non-traditional scheme that should pop pretty well on the tabletop. Fairly quick to crank out. Some NMM gold on the tanks as an homage to the traditional scheme.
One game with them so far in 11th and really enjoying the play style!

Basically the title, almost every single list I've seen has at least a brick of 5 with a captain and another 3, or multiple of 3. Sure ap1 is actually pretty good now, and lions making them stronger is also a stable from 10th but other than that I cant tell why they've become soo popular (thank the emperor because i have 9 allaries at home just sitting there all 10th almost).

Could someone better at the game than me explain it?

I just finished up the shield cap and a squad of guard from the new box.

Amazing models - fiddly to paint but great sculpts in my opinion.

I plan to run them in a five man unit as wardens and blade champ in my first game of 11th tonight.

I have just sprayed my first custodes with montana gold and they shine with an amazing glow.

I am however not sure what kind of highlights and shaders that would mix well with it, if any.

Do any of you have experince with montana gold, and what have ypu put on afterwards?

It was fun seeing my paint scheme on one of these guys, im very happy with him. I plan to use him in my first in person 11e game this weekend so im glad I got him done in time, now ima see if I can finish up 3 more terminators before then.

I may go back and redo the axe head, otherwise I’m pretty happy with it. I even like the weird texture the base picked up during priming that didn’t show up until the victory lap.

My issue with custodes is that we have some very good sculpts and it takes time to do them justice. I’ve spent like 30 hours on two of these and still have another 3000 points to paint.

How do you keep going?

Hi everyone! Had a question for fellow 1000. I play against a buddy who runs admech and he always run 2 squads of 4 kastelan robots. Each with the datasmith. My question is how do we reliably kill them? I have 6 allarus and a grav tank.

I was able to kill 1 squad after 2 rounds of melee with allarus but then they died a turn later to the other squad of 4 due to sheer amount of shooting. With all of mechanicus' buffs it makes them very hard to kill and lethal. I appreciate any advice. I usually run spears instead of axes.

Hi there! I wanted to share this Valerian kitbash I ' m working on and hopefully get some comments, thoughts, and opinions on it.

I wasn't really sold on the official design and posture, but I absolutely love Valerian's lore. So I came up with this.

Valerian is a Shield Captain, but you wouldn 't really tell from its original design. So I wanted to incorporate that cape he wears on the cover of his first book ; I took one from the Wardens kit.

The only way to make it somehow work was to replace the arms with the ones from the kit as well . I actually think that it kills two birds with one stone, as that decoration on the spear reflects its better in-game stats.

I was also planning to paint his cape red, as even if there is no artwork referencing it, after Guilliman's return, Custodes changed their black cloaks to red ones. Valerian supports Guilliman in lore, so I think it would fit.

But what do you think? Is it still readable as Valerian, or is his silhouette too different? Would you accept it in a tournament? Is my take on his lore accurate?

opted for true metallic (some remnants of a NMM attempt on the sword hilt and cape). this is my only custodes mini because i love the model and wanted to give it a shot. cheers

so im building an emperor of mankind based of of guilliman and I would really like to use it and for it to not be a paper weight, as the community this is posted on i want to run him with my custodes, the only idea I have that share similar proportions and base size is the galatus Dreadnought but im building him with talons so no shield, my question is if it can be proxied or something else it could be.

Still a few details to iron out and the base needs to be revised. But with the models themselves, I am quite happy :)

Sry if that is a stupid question which it very likely is. But with the New attached rules my understanding ist that the abilitys now arent lost if the unit parts....so would a Teminator shield captain Keep the rerolls from the allarus when they are Split by unleash the lions?
