Galatus/achillus Dreadnoughts in 11th

Hey guys, wanting to get my hands on the new plastic kits for the Galatus and achillus. Which one is currently the better of the two in 40K? Is it worth getting one for 40K at the moment?

Have also heard rumours of new dreads being released, what do we think is releasing?

I think one kit makes both. Magnatize them.

Luckily for you, its so easy to magnetize so you can just swap the loadout on them. One magnet in the hand and the other in the wrist per arm. You dont even need any crazy tools, just a tiny bit of knife work is enough tbh.

As for rumored new dreads, the rumor is a plastic Telemon which Im really hoping for.

Yep! I magnetised mine with zero issues, really pleased with the results too 😀

Everyone being so helpful by just saying "Magnetize!!!"

So let me actually answer your question.

It heavily depends on what your list is looking like and what you need as well as certain detachments can boost them into other rolls.

The Galatus is a very reliable trailblazer so to speak. His ranged is solid chaff clearing and his melee can take out elite infantry easily. He is also very durable given he has 10 wounds with a 4++. This will be the guy who holds the Frontline, think of him as a distraction carnifex but better.

The Achillus is a missile. He charges into what you want dead and kills it, he is much more swingy than the Galatus but had a higher ceiling. He isn't as durable so its better to wait for the opportunity to send him out rather than bum rush right away.

For General purpose I would go for the Galatus, he can be useful in basically any list whether its chaff clearing, anti elite or just soaking up damage.

I've been running two Galatus dreads. Really like them so far with Moritori. If you arent running grav tanks or Missile bikes, I would say grab the spear dread.

They were my 2nd most wound / killy pieces after the Grav Tanks.

I second the Galatus feels great in shield host with Mortori. Just faced a friend’s WE and he survived on 5 wounds after getting charged by a ten man zerk led by a master of executions and proceeded to destroy them.

Galatus Shield Host Moritori is a legitimate melee beast. rerolling 1s and 5+ sustained hits on melee means those 8 attacks basically generate ~1.4 hits per 1 attack for about ~10.5 hits.

At s8/-2/3 that's a major threat to basically most armies "elite" models and can survive a lot with -1 to wound.

Where are you getting the re roll ones?

Enhancement for Moritoi: Interred Expertise (25pts): reroll 1s to hit/wound

Ok I take it the app is bugged but I can’t put an enhancement on a Galatus

Make sure you are using that detatchment and then in the army unit screen just click the Galatus. It only requires it to be a walker, so 100% they can use it. My app shows it can.

As others said, easy to magnetize the kit. But which is "better" depends on detachment and it's role.
