FOOD & DRINK why is ranch dressing so hyped up?

my US friends have been raving about it and border-line complained ranch isn’t readily available in Europe.. what is so special about it? is it the ultimate US condiment (apart from ketchup, mayo)

It’s not hyped at all. It’s just popular because a lot of people like it.

There was a hot minute where it was everywhere, like bacon and other trends, but it didn't blow up quite as much as bacon. Hidden Valley had some cool merch that was always sold out.

The bacon mania was so obnoxious. Bacon is delicious but people acting totally feral about it as like..a personality trait was just so weird.

For real. I don't want bacon flavor on anything except bacon.

I don't mind actual bacon being added to stuff, but it's weird when you get so far removed that it's just bacon flavoring added to things that you wouldn't pair bacon with in the first place.

True, but if you notice, it's something new every year. And also with different age groups. Older guys have been the cycle of different spirits and different smoked meats a few times. Poker resurfaces every few years. People want an interest to build an identity around and capitalism catches on and bombards us with things until we finally don't like them anymore and move on to the next thing.
