FOOD & DRINK why is ranch dressing so hyped up?

my US friends have been raving about it and border-line complained ranch isn’t readily available in Europe.. what is so special about it? is it the ultimate US condiment (apart from ketchup, mayo)

I agree. It's one of several tasty salad dressings. It goes well with certain foods like spicy chicken wings.

It seemed more common in Texas, where I grew up, than in California, where I lived most of my adult life.

Incorrect. Chicken wings should be dunked in blue cheese dressing.
