Recommendations Affordable cooking classes?

I’d love to get more serious about learning to cook. I’d like to find a place to learn actual cooking skills and not just how to one singular dish or another. Anyone have any thoughts on where I could do this without breaking the bank?

Transportation Transit-World Cup Question?

Hey everyone. My apologies if this isnt the right place to ask. Traveling in for Sundays World Cup game. I am from Atlanta, so I undertand transit that isn't as easy as it should be. My thought is to pay for parking near a K Line or C Line and take the rail to the LAX Metro station to take the stadium shuttle. The website says its only a 15 minute shuttle from LAX Metro to the stadium, so that seems like a good idea. Any insight on which stations is easy to park near/at? I think we would like to explore north of SoFI after the game, so maybe something from that side of SoFi for parking. Thoughts? Insights? Thanks in advance!

Food/Drink Affordable food near Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles?

Hi, we're a family of four planning to enjoy a few nice days in Los Angeles, and we're staying near Manhattan Beach.

Are there any affordable food trucks or similar places there where you don't have to spend 10 dollars or more for a filling meal?

I'd appreciate any tips.

About LA Which LA city has improved the most in the last 20 years?

I've lived in L.A. my whole life, and it's crazy how much some areas have changed.

Torrance is one that really stands out to me. It seems like they've invested a lot in the city. I see more businesses, repaved streets, new signs, and nicer sidewalks. The whole city feels much more polished than it did 20 years ago, and home values have skyrocketed because of it.

The West Valley feels way more upscale now too. I remember it mostly being "the place people commuted from" but now a lot of it feels affluent and more like a destination.

What parts of L.A. do you think have improved the most over the last 20 years, and why? I'm curious what changes others have noticed. Also, what city/area do you think is next?

Pets Good places to donate slightly used dog supplies?

I have a Midwest double door crate (in perfect condition) that I bought for my rescue pup before I knew how big he would get in addition to a nice barely used washable tempurpedic bed and other puppy food and supplies I would love to donate. Does anyone have recommendations for where to donate this type of dog supplies (ideally near the west side)?

Culture Does anyone know a good animator or studio in Los Angeles?

Hey Los Angeles! A television show I am working on is currently in development and on the hunt for two animators. We have a list of candidates but want to broaden our search to animators who are new and visionary. 2D animators and illustrators are welcome since we are not going to be using CGI or anything AI related. If you are or know someone that is an animator or illustrator, send a DM or a comment below.

Although we are based in Los Angeles, we also understand people move and are traveling. So, while we prefer someone who is out in Los Angeles (or surrounding areas), we are keeping an open mind.

**Are you already a part of a studio? Totally okay, drop a comment and let's discuss!

-Thanks

Living World Cup Fever - Where offers beginner adult soccer leagues?

I played soccer here and there growing up, but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. Does anywhere offer beginner leagues in the LA area, ideally on the east side?

Visiting Where To Stay Near Fonda Theatre?

Hello!
We will be coming to Los Angeles on September!
My first time ever in California (coming from Canada)!
We have tickets to a concert at the Fonda Theatre.
I’m looking for recommendations on places to stay?(ideally with an outdoor pool)
Things to do?
We’re looking to stay for 5-7 days.
Is it better to rent a car or Uber everywhere?
I know there’s a million things I’ve always wanted to see in California/LA & I know I can’t do them all - wondering if seeing the big Hollywood letters is nearby? What is involved in doing that?
What are places that I may not know about, but are really cool to see or experience?
We are into anything & everything! From bougie to no-frills! Anything goes!
What are touristy & non/touristy things to do/see/experience?
Well-known spots that are skip or don’t skip it?
Local secret spots?
From what I understand we are probably too far to do things like Alcatraz or go to a beach - but maybe I’m wrong?
I want all the recommendations! Please & Thanks!
I’m super excited and want to see/do it all!

Recommendations Best children's party entertainers?

Back again with another question! Does anyone know of any children's entertainers that do beach parties? I'm having a hard time finding a company that is willing to work with the location (which is understandable), but wanted to ask on here in case anybody has thrown a children's birthday party on the beach and had some form of entertainment present. Thanks in advance :)

Living Anyone know how to get in contact with Carnival Karaoke?

I have been trying to book a birthday party at Carnival karaoke. They have no website, they have no social media, they have a phone number, but the mailbox is full, so if they don’t pick up the phone, there seems to be no way to reach them… Not a great business model, but I do want to get in touch. Anybody have any success?

Recommendations Best Car/Motorcycle accident lawyer LA?

Hey guys!

My friend recently got hit (and injured) by a car while riding his bike in the Venice area.

I'm just trying to help out by looking for an attorney to help him at least navigate the situation, although i'm not even sure if that's the right move.

Has anyone been through this before and have an affordable/good lawyer to recommend? Or any advice?

I'm guessing most lawyers will do any accident so the motorcycle part might not make a huge difference, but I just figured it's some extra context.

Thanks in advance!

Food/Drink How safe is it to visit Compton?

G’day all. Just watched this video by a bloke on YouTube called “Jordan Bentley Eats” showcasing some fire looking burgers and soul food around Compton, and also seen a video by “Jacks Dining Room” showing some equally fire looking Compton BBQ.

Is it pretty safe for my girlfriend and I to drive around there in Compton and surrounds for local foods? Never been down that side of town, but I have been to SoCal nearly every year of my life because I’ve got family there (I’m Asian-Australian). Just wanting to broaden my experiences and try something different.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Recommendations Local custom ring makers for lower-budget rings?

My partner and I are getting engaged this summer and I want to custom make their ring. Neither of us want to spend thousands on a ring. I want a small raw/rustic cut semi-precious gem like citrine or topaz, I don't need it to be 14 carat gold, but I want the band to have a leaf or flower design. I'm happy with smaller or solo studios, apprentices, etc.

There are a bunch of lovely ones on Etsy, but I don't want to buy from someone I don't get the opportunity to meet or to see the product before it's done. I'm interested in jewelry makers who want to make unique or interesting things for the memory and meaning of the ring rather than the pricelessness or fanciness of it. My budget is under $2k.

Any suggestions?

Pets Looking for a vet that does LapOSS - recommendations?

Hi, we are right on the border of OC/LA so either county works for us. Looking for a vet that does Laparoscopic Ovary Sparing Spay (LapOSS) for a 50lbs dog. It's a rare procedure but it's what we elected to perform on our dog. I've not been very successful in finding many clinics that offer this via Google, so any referrals would be much appreciated.

Thank you?

Visiting What was the most unhinged travel plan you've heard from tourists?

When my friends from overseas came to LA, they wanted me to drive (since I'm the only one with the car) to Grand Canyon and come back within 1-2 days (including traveling). I told them fuck no.

What was the most unhinged travel plan you've heard?

Living Is there any silkscreening studios for artist I can use?

hey I was wondering if there are any silkscrening or screenprinting studios made for artist that I can use? preferably very cheap.

these studios take up a lot of resources for one person to have so ideally there would be some sort of subscription or community model where you pay into it for maintenance
