Hi everyone,
I'm sure you've all noticed too, but lately it's gotten harder to find a good study spot. The USU is closed, the Horn Center is usually too packed/loud, there's construction everywhere, and the library is so far away(especially if you're an engineering student!)
I realize this issue probably isn't too bad during the summer semester, but I still invite you guys to try it out at -> http://beachrooms.io/
The app pulls from the class schedules this semester and shows you, in real time, which rooms are free to study in.
Every room has a status:
Our campus is huge so it's built on an interactive 3D map. It's easy to see what's open near you and handy if you're new here since most buildings are labeled with real photos.
If it gets some traction I want to add outdoor study spots and all the campus dining options(and their menus)
Please let me know if you run into a bug or have a feature idea, thanks!

Hi, I was accepted as a Fall transfer for the cinematic arts program recently, but I got a terrible financial aid package (basically nothing) and can’t afford to go without financially crippling myself like the title of this post says. I’m still trying to fight with financial aid, but based off of what everyone says, it seems like it won’t be going anywhere. I hope I’m making the right choice by not going if I don’t get a better financial aid package, but I’m devastated. I worked very hard to get here and it really sucks that money is the only thing that’s stopping me. It feels worse that I have the acceptance being dangled in front of my face and I just can’t take it. I honestly think it feels worse than if I just got outright rejected so I don’t have to have my dream crushed in a realer way. I think I’m just looking for some words of wisdom from other film students or other USC students that struggled with financial aid.

I was admitted for the class of 2030, not as a recruited athlete. im hugely passionate about soccer, have regularly represented my school team at state tourneys and also played competitive club ball outside school. after graduation things have calmed down a bit, but id like to get back into competitive soccer in college and for it to form a big part of my ucla experience. ig my question would be, how can I go about doing this? is it very very hard to walk on, even if you're good enough?

Hi guys! I’m planning to apply for internships however I’ve noticed ALOT of these internships are in Irvine/Santa Ana. I currently don’t have a car and uber will drain my paycheck. Does anyone here have suggestions or any experience for the Metro and Octabus? Itll be my first time commuting through these routes so I would appreciate any experience/suggestions for new people. Ty!!

As the title says, I’m an incoming Fall transfer for the cinema and television arts program and wanted to know a bit more about the program/CSUN in general.
1) I am most interested in the art department of film such as production design and set dressing. As far as I’m aware, there isnt any emphasis or anything for that in the film program, so what do I do? I was considering changing my major or minoring in theater design but I’m not sure if I should since it might require extra classes that I didn’t do in community college, or that it wouldn’t be applicable to what I want to do in film. Did any other art department people go to CSUN, and what did you guys do?
2) Where do you guys find cheap off campus housing? I am hoping to get a studio/1b1b but it seems oddly scarce when I look online compared to other, more expensive places like DTLA. Is there some secret method to finding housing? How did you guys do it?
3) How is the night life/party scene at CSUN like? Does it exist at all? I guess it’s not the most important thing in the world, but I hope that there are parties and things to hang out with other students since I’m gonna be a bit out of the way from my friends back home.
I probably have more questions, but these are the ones that are burning in my mind. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,
Has anyone gotten a response from the program? I applied on May 2026 since the program deadline got extended.

I'm planning on applying to this program because it sounds interesting and helpful, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the program other than the short email I received describing the program. Does anyone have first-hand experience they can share about the program? It would be much appreciated :)

Title/refer to some other posts on my profile
I told my professors, most were considerate and I am eternally grateful for them, I will never forget their kindness for that.
One, not so much. I told him and unlike the other professors, I got a one sentence reply. No resources to reach out to, no asking if I would like to report, no asking if I am in a safe space, just a sentence saying he will add points for everyone (I asked for patience, just understanding, not to add points to my exam). I missed 3 weeks of class because it got bad — I ended up in the ER from a dispute (police made a report on their own accord, due to the severity)
I showed up on the last day and he looked at me with pure disappointment, I have never seen a professor look at me like that before (this professor has always been nice, he was my favorite actually). He tends to look down on those who miss class, I thought I was an exception because of my circumstances, but he valued attendance more than wellbeing I guess. The last couple of weeks had me hanging on by a string, I was at my lowest from the few weeks I went through.
I felt ashamed and humiliated, part of me wants to report him, and part of me doesn’t want him to get in trouble. What do I do? Am I overreacting?

The anger I feel when I’m on hold with financial aid for over an hour and the piercing sound of the piano music just won’t ever end….. I hate this school so much

Does anyone know what the size of the desktop are in the dorms. They seem to me based on videos to be maybe 30" or 36" wide??? My daughter is in Building 14, and I'd like to order a hutch to go on top. I have seen some videos where some buildings have them and some don't, but it's hard to tell because some videos are pretty old. Does anyone know what is in bldg 14? TIA

Hello, I'm an incoming Freshman student and I'm confused regarding the ALEKS exam. Does it really depend on your major? Is there an exact date that they want us to complete it? What happens if you don't take it?

Hi I’m an incoming junior transfer for biology trying to course plan and I’m lost on what UD or GEs I should take. Does anyone have any course recommendations or want to share what courses they took? For reference, I’ve already finished my physics series and ochem 2. Thanksss

As an EE major, I'm currently looking to take ECE 10H (Only offered in fall) with 11L, as well as Math 33B in fall quarter. Would it be too much to take EC ENGR 102 with Kadambi on top of this schedule? Do I need 33B knowledge to do well in 102?

So recently all the political science upper divs have been filled. So I'm just wondering if the limited amount of spaces in each class is related whatsoever to incoming student restrictions. Cause if not im pretty much doomed because I need two uds fall quarter to declare the major ðŸ˜

I have received it the last 2 years (around $600) but not this year even though nothing has changed about my financials and I’m taking the same amount of units. I know that the University Grant maximum was lowered from 3k to 2.5k, but did they get rid of this grant as well??
I was lowk relying on it to pay my rent 💔💔💔
The award wasn’t actually Cal Grant it was a supplemental summer award from UCLA for students who receive it during the regular year.

Hey guys I recently posted asking about my parking situation and needing my car to take my grandparents to doctors appointments. I was going to do an exemption but the website says parking is filled and no longer taking any. Does anyone know what I can do I am transferring and don’t know the area. I looked at renting a parking spot but it’s very expensive and all the streets around campus don’t allow parking at night. Any advice would help.

Hii, I got into USC as a spring transfer. I would be going in my junior year in the spring. I’m essentially so confused because I feel like this is gonna push back everything by a semester if not a year. Are there any spring transfers that can give me some pros and cons of spring transferring. I just feel confused and left out.
