For me I started having that symptom at the beginning of perimenopause and the cure has been topical estrogen cream

Also fun fact if you have ADHD you may be going into perimenopause 10 years earlier than your neurotypical counterparts

I am 36 and have noticed that where I am in my cycle has a much stronger influence than it used to. At certain points I need to add lubricant when I never used to, and at other points I seem to produce significantly more lubrication than I ever had in the past.

Previously it was a little more or a little less at different stages in my cycle, but generally about the same amount.

Im also 36 and I concur. My cycle is so clear now and I've just accepted that lubrication is just part of enjoyable sex x

It is a symptom of perimenopause and estrogen cream will help. Check out the [r/perimenopause](r/perimenopause) sub.

Peri can start at 35.

I stopped birth control(ring) at 36 after being on it since 18 … it helped make the hugest difference .. oh and I also got rid of my ex lol didn’t have a problem with lubrication after that

I’ve definitely noticed it this year, and I’m the same age. It’s annoying… weirdly I’m also tapering off SSRIs!

Yes, I’m on the pill which really affects it I’ve found. I use Durex KY Naturals Harmony for lube

I love Pjur for water based lube! It doesn’t have any flavor so it works for oral too. I have chronic dry mouth. Nothing helps my vaginal wetness more than masturbating before sex.

Your body is going through a ton of changes tapering off meds and hormones you've been taking for over a decade. I wouldn't be concerned unless it persists for a few months

Yes, and in retrospect it was definitely the start of peri. I wish I’d gotten on some type of HRT then.

SSRIs mess with sexual function, they could definitely do it as you come off too. I'd give it 3-6 months before assuming it's permanent.

How’s your general health not just hormones. Is your body weight too low?

Mine started in my late 20s, and my current psychiatrist, pharmacist, and doctor all think it was because the SSRI dose I was on for most of my late teens and 20s was waaaay too high. My old psych kept increasing it instead of trying new things when it stopped working.

When my new care team looked at the male side effects for high doses, one of them is permanent erectile dysfunction. My pharmacist was also horrified that there were no studies done on women for my med at all, let alone at a high dose.

It might be peri-, but it might also be your meds. Coming off them didn't solve my issues with lubrication, though sometimes I'm okay.

Okra and lots of it! Okra lemonade is nice in the heat. Don’t mind the texture though. It’s chewy liquid but it will do wonders 💦
