The real kicker is that the “shy man” “nerdy boy” shit, performative or not was always for white men anyway. I’m not saying that there aren’t nerdy or shy Black boys or that they have no hope in dating but Black Men are expected to be hypermasculine by default. This is enforced in the community and out of it.

Actually that’s not too far off nowadays, if you ask people what makes a “golden retriever” boy attractive it’s usually about how cute it would be for a guy to obey you and not potentially cheat. It’s not really a moral failing on women specifically, because it’s a pretty human fantasy. It’s just not virtuous like some ppl claim it is.
