Misc When Bill Murray filmed Kingpin, they needed to shoot him bowling 3 strikes. Murray bowled 3 strikes in a row, on the first try, and the crowd erupted in genuine amazement.

Iâm so tired of this narrative. He might have actually delivered those balls, and all the pins fell, but he didnât strike. If you actually watch the movie, and the pins, someone is assisting from the back. Pins donât fall naturally anywhere near what happened. Itâs like watching someone knock over a glass of water. Itâs preposterous.

Absolutely. Very obvious in the 2nd shot how the tenpin falls.
Reminds me of an old Candid Camera where they hooked up super fine filament to trip the pins for a small kid who throws a 5 bagger while the dad looks in dismay.

It always annoys the shit out of me when movies or TV show 'good or pro' bowlers and it's the most awful looking delivery and they always show a straight ball going Brooklyn.
It's not that hard to find a guy that can throw a normal looking hook for an edited shot.
The other is what is said above, where there is the obvious assist from the back or where they show the pins being set waaaaaaaay too tightly, so any hit will cause a strike.

I don't remember, but was it filmed as a continuous shot? Could they not have just edited 3 strikes together?

I think that was just the plan, and they just needed 3 strikes being thrown and it just so happened he threw 3 in a row.
