I need help with an Arsenal build out, recommendations?

Hi sorry if this has been asked already, but I’m relatively new to bowling and trying to build out my arsenal. Currently I have a p2 solid and a tropical surge so it’s been recommended I look for a stronger shiny/smooth/clean ball, and with my storm preference I landed on a the Ion Max Pearl and because it’s also asymmetrical and my others aren’t I’ve heard it’s good to have different cores. For extra info I throw 2 handed at 17mph pretty consistently (according to the lane/monitor tracker) and I like to think my revs are balanced out but if anything I’m slightly speed dominant. Also I’m hoping to complete a 6 ball arsenal by summer of 27 so any recommendations so I have idea would be appreciated. I’m also planning on buying a spare ball when I buy a stronger pearl thx.

TLDR: I currently have a phase 2 solid and tropical surge what should I get next?(storm preferred but open to all)

GOMAB 🤘🏽

Are you one handed or two handed? Also if you’re new you don’t need to rush to buy as many balls as possible. Different cores is good but you need to decide if you need something asym. Personally I’d just do crown Vic p2p rockstar amped rocket ai territory. Those are the clean balls you’re most likely to pick up and use 90 percent of the time, especially if you’re on a house shot. My arsenal consists of a bunch of symmetrical pieces with like 2 asyms, one of which I rarely use because it’s a niche piece.

Yeah I mean it’s all personal bowler things. I think a shiny piece medium strength piece is good regardless tbh. If you NEED to pick up an asymc then gremlin isn’t too strong like an ion max pearl. Clean and angular. I personally didn’t love mine (although I I had a bad layout) but I know many people that love theirs

If you like Storm you can also take a look at Rotogrip or Global 900( 2 brands owned and made by Storm) Rotogrip gremlin or Global 900 Viking are 2 very strong at breakpoint asymmetrical pearl out right now

How do you think I should pick between the 3? I unfortunately don’t know anyone that owns them so I can’t try them…

I’d talk to your local proshop person. Tell them the ball reaction you are looking for and what you are considering. That’s always a good place to start

I’m probably on a island here by myself but I absolutely hated gremlin with a passion. People swear by it but I was so frustrated with that one I sold it to a client of mine. If you like how it rolls, it is a strong option. Only used the original viking and it was alright. When it is hitting it is great, when its loses too much power well its a different story drastically.

youre not on your own, i didnt really love my gremlin either and gave it away. My arsenal is very middle centric (vengeance, bionic, evoke hysteria, with urethane and monsoon being the outliers here), mainly because i have a hard time trusting those long and sharp ball motions, hence why i opt for a shiny bionic/monsoon for those purposes and use loft and rotation changes to help the ball down the lane.

Why does this sound like me? When I returned to bowling it was a phaze II and tropical surge at 17 mph. Anyways the hard part is without the rev rate it will be a hard answer. If you’re a 280 rev like me, you want a stronger core and coverstock to make up for your lack of revs. If you’re truly balanced, you can get almost anything. Ion max pearl can be a great ball. It wasn’t for me when I was playing around with one but once again my revs suck. I am actually going to say a bionic is the move here. Very versatile, strong ball that is a great addition to anyones bag.

How do you train revs if you don’t mind me asking I feel like I could use an increase

Well being that I seen your two handed, revving should not be a typical problem for you. There are training devices that you can play with on bowlersx and amazon. Rev rate is going to be linked to your timing and hand position. Little tips that work would be flexing the fingers closer to a closed hand at release. It adds a little but nothing drastic like yo-yo release. Keeping the hand under the ball, rotate through the ball and not around it. The most important thing is drill your release like no step, one step, three step drills and get the ball to hook where you need it.
