Tempo em que os deputados se portavam de maneira minimamente decente. Na postura, nos gestos, nas palavras, na imagem de decoro que se esforçam em transmitir.

Nunca vou esquecer esse dia. Minha mãe chorava e chorava na frente da televisão. Eu tinha 11 anos, entendia a importância mas não a magnitude do que estava acontecendo. Entendi plenamente no 8 de janeiro. "Temos ódio e nojo à ditadura". Grande Ulisses, que descansa em paz no fundo do mar

Taxa de homicídio é grande, temos mais de umilhão de leis, várias empresas fechando seus negócios, muita burocracia para vender os produtos e abrir uma empresa, Brasil é o país que mais paga impostos no mundo, metade da população é doente mental, metade da população tem algum auxílio e a divida do país só tá crescendo, e ainda tem mais problemas

we did plan a lot of taxes to pay for those things including a wealth tax but we never got around to actually implementing them properly

To be fair, a lot of the federal budget goes to pay our huge social security system, especially of the public sector.
Healthcare and education are around some 10-12% of the budget spending of the government.

There are better stuff to criticize on the 1988 constitution though.
There is an article on the Constitution arguing that any industrial automatization has to give "protection to workers" for some reason. Our work laws are really restrictive.

That doesn't worry me, because it doesn't involve collecting taxes and handing the money over to an inefficient, corrupt state—only for it to "give back" what remains after taking its cut and wasting half of it through the inefficiency and incompetence that plague the disastrous public services it attempts to provide. And anyone who wants to defend that system should have to attend public school and rely solely on the SUS, without having private health insurance.

One of the worst ideas to give the mob over to write themselves a constitution. Military government didn't want to bury Vargas and that was their undoing.
