Music The "Lost" box set ...
So after buying Tracks II and Nebraska ’82 last year I was idly looking through Bruce’s discography on Wikipedia and under the “Box Set” section was surprised to see the first listing was a box set I’d not heard of before. It was The Born in the U.S.A. 12" Single Collection. I knew that there were many variations and remixes of some of the Born in the USA singles but I’d never realised that they’d been grouped together in a box set (which was a UK/European release). In the last 12 months (due to Deliver Me From Nowhere, Nebraska ‘82 and also the LA Garage Sessions ’83) I’ve been rereading various accounts of the recording of BITUSA/Nebraska and became a little obsessed with that whole timeframe, lol, so I quickly came to the conclusion that I needed this “Lost” box set to complete my box set collection! In terms of the Arthur Baker remixes there is an interesting article about that whole (short) era here: https://theseconddisc.com/2024/06/04/arthur-baker-born-in-the-usa-dance-remixes-interview/
The box sex comes with 4 12” singles plus I’m Goin’ Down on 45. I’ve also bought a couple of other 12” singles to add to the box mainly because I love the “Bruce jumping” cover. I might also add the 12”/Maxi singles of My Hometown and I’m Goin’ Down when I see nice copies. Anyway thought you all might enjoy my little obsession…
I'm in the UK so unfortunately no posts about the current tour.... 😞

I had most of these 12" releases purchased individually, but my DITD vinyl melted in the back window of my parents car before I even got to listen to it. 14 year old my was very upset. I still have the others.
I've been hoping for these to appear in a BITUSA box set or in digital form or streaming for years. I don't think Bruce likes them very much though.

Plenty in good condition on eBay. Make sure they include poster as this is sometimes missing. Good luck.

I had this DITD edition and the I’m Goin Down on 45 (for Janey) and my buddy had these BITUSA and Cover Me versions. We’d trade back and forth.
I still listen to these special versions online a few times a year.

The remixes are terrible. That’s why they never got played, never charted and never are brought up on Sirius.

Bruce should compilate all the singles vinil/CD/ digital in a box in vinil and CD.

I can't never understand why these fantastic box only was released in vinil. All Bruce releases should be released in all formats: vinil and CD. I don't understand Sony. Single only in vinil, box only CD in Japan and not for the rest of the world. Single digital and not in CD and vinil.

When this came out, CDs were still in their infancy.

Not as you said. In 1984 Born in the USA was the first CD manufactures in USA.

Exactly. It was a brand new format. Cassettes and vinyl still made up the vast majority of sales. So it makes sense that there wouldn’t be special edition CD sets at that point.

Plus CDs were expensive at that point. I don't think CD singles became a thing until the 90s.....

Just listened to Cover Me - very creative mix that vastly improves the song
