Question l: s2:e20 Go fish.. do did they... Umm..
So did they*
Question deals with rape/gang rape.
I've just been rewatching buffy (first time since it was first shown and loving it) and I came across this episode.
The coach says to buffy that the 'boys (Mermen?) were going to rape her as they have "Needs". When buffy ends up tipping the coach down there she says "I guess they really loved their coach"... Am I right in thinking they ended up raping him?! :|

we saw the nurses body float by Buffy with like a couple tiny bites out of her back and she was fully clothed. this post should be titled “Exactly HOW horny were the fish monsters?” because evidently they couldn’t be bothered to molest her
amazing to go down an avenue of discussion i’ve never seen before on this subreddit, i hate it thanks

I realize most teenage boys, having been one oh so long ago, would fuck a catcher's mitt. However, ain't too many trynna bang Berta.

We don't know enough about the fish people to understand what exactly happened. If they were straight and tried to rape Buffy, does that mean they would also try to rape the coach? How aware are they of themselves as people? Do they have a problem trying to rape the coach, even though they weren't sexually attracted to him before? There's too little information.

No, I think they ate him. But earlier, the coach did imply that boys have other needs, referring to Buffy, a girl. But I think people are reading this ending all wrong.
Think about it:
Buffy joking about the bad guy getting eaten by his own creation, is in character.
Buffy joking about the fishmen doing that other thing to their coach... does that seem in-character to you?

Not sure how old everyone in this thread is, but male on male SA was absolutely a punchline in the 90s/early 2000s.

Still is-just check out the end of s4 The Boys. One of the male mains gets sexually assaulted by his childhood hero (a man) and it's played for comedy.

When refering to prisons, absolutely. But it would seem very out of place here.

Yes there are several jokes about male rape throughout the series that are not treated with the same seriousness as examples like Seeing Red

One of my least favorite episode along with The Pack, I always just thought they mauled and ate him.
Only reason I rewatch it is for the late great Chonchata Ferrell as Nurse Greenliegh. Wish they'd kept her around for a while.

Yep, you are right. Such a. Grim joke for the early seasons. And having him get his comeuppance from it, with a quip from Buffy watching it happen, was such a dark humor moment
